After this, Paul left Athens and went to Corinth.
Il y trouva un Juif nommé Aquila, originaire du Pont, et récemment arrivé d'Italie avec sa femme Priscille, parce que Claude avait enjoint à tous les Juifs de sortir de Rome. Paul alla les voir ;
There he found a Jew named Aquila, a native of Pontus, who had recently come from Italy with his wife Priscilla because Claudius had ordered all the Jews to leave Rome. Paul went to visit them,
et comme il exerçait le même métier, il demeura chez eux et y travailla : ils étaient faiseurs de tentes.
and he stayed and worked with them because they were tentmakers by trade, just as he was.
Chaque sabbat, il discourait dans la synagogue, et il persuadait des Juifs et des Grecs.
Every Sabbath he reasoned in the synagogue, trying to persuade Jews and Greeks alike.
Lorsque Silas et Timothée furent arrivés de Macédoine, il se donna tout entier à la parole, attestant aux Juifs que Jésus était le Christ.
And when Silas and Timothy came down from Macedonia, Paul devoted himself fully to the word, testifying to the Jews that Jesus is the Christ.
Mais comme ceux-ci s'opposaient à lui et l'injuriaient, Paul secoua ses vêtements et leur dit : " Que votre sang soit sur votre tête ! J'en suis pur ; dès ce moment j'irai chez les Gentils. "
But when they opposed and insulted him, he shook out his garments and told them, “Your blood be on your own heads! I am innocent of it. From now on I will go to the Gentiles.”

So Paul left the synagogue and went next door to the house of Titus Justus (note: ECM; SBL, NE, and WH Titius Justus; BYZ and TR Justus), a worshiper of God.
Or Crispus, le chef de la synagogue, crut au Seigneur avec toute sa maison ; un grand nombre de Corinthiens, en entendant Paul, crurent aussi et furent baptisés.
Crispus, the synagogue leader, and his whole household believed in the Lord. And many of the Corinthians who heard the message believed and were baptized.
Pendant la nuit, le Seigneur dit à Paul dans une vision : " Sois sans crainte, mais parle et ne te tais point.
One night the Lord spoke to Paul in a vision: “Do not be afraid; keep on speaking; do not be silent.
Car je suis avec toi, et personne ne mettra la main sur toi pour te faire du mal ; car j'ai un peuple nombreux dans cette ville. "
For I am with you and no one will lay a hand on you, because I have many people in this city.”
Paul demeura un an et six mois à Corinthe, y enseignant la parole de Dieu.
So Paul stayed for a year and a half, teaching the word of God among the Corinthians.
Or, Gallion étant proconsul d'Achaïe, les Juifs se soulevèrent unanimement contre Paul, et le menèrent devant le tribunal,
While Gallio was proconsul of Achaia, the Jews coordinated an attack on Paul and brought him before the judgment seat.
en disant : " Celui-ci persuade aux hommes un culte contraire à la Loi. "
“This man is persuading the people to worship God in ways contrary to the law,” they said.
Comme Paul ouvrait la bouche pour répondre, Gallion dit aux Juifs : " S'il s'agissait de quelque délit ou de quelque grave méfait, je vous écouterais comme de raison, ô Juifs.
But just as Paul was about to speak, Gallio told the Jews, “If this matter involved a wrongdoing or vicious crime, O Jews, it would be reasonable for me to hear your complaint.

At this, the crowd (note: Literally they all; BYZ and TR all the Greeks) seized Sosthenes the synagogue leader and beat him in front of the judgment seat. But none of this was of concern to Gallio.
Paul resta encore assez longtemps à Corinthe ; puis, ayant dit adieu aux frères, il s'embarqua pour la Syrie, avec Priscille et Aquila, après s'être fait raser la tête à Cenchrées, en vertu d'un vœu.
Paul remained in Corinth for quite some time before saying goodbye to the brothers. He had his head shaved in Cenchrea to keep a vow he had made, and then he sailed for Syria, accompanied by Priscilla and Aquila.

When they reached Ephesus, Paul left Priscilla and Aquila. He himself went into the synagogue there and reasoned with the Jews.

When they asked him to stay for a while longer, he declined.

But as he left, he said, “I will come back (note: BYZ and TR I must by all means keep this feast that comes in Jerusalem, but I will come back) to you if God is willing.” And he set sail from Ephesus.
Ayant débarqué à Césarée, il monta à Jérusalem, salua l'Eglise et descendit à Antioche.
When Paul had landed at Caesarea, he went up and greeted the church at Jerusalem. Then he went down to Antioch.
Après y avoir passé quelque temps, Paul se mit en route, et parcourut successivement le pays des Galates et la Phrygie, affermissant tous les disciples.
After Paul had spent some time in Antioch, he traveled from place to place throughout the region of Galatia and Phrygia, strengthening all the disciples.
Or, un Juif nommé Apollos, originaire d'Alexandrie, homme éloquent et versé dans les Ecritures, vint à Ephèse.
Meanwhile a Jew named Apollos, a native of Alexandria, came to Ephesus. He was an eloquent man, well versed in the Scriptures.
Il avait été instruit dans la voie du Seigneur, et, d'un cœur ardent, il enseignait avec exactitude ce qui concerne Jésus, bien qu'il ne connût que le baptême de Jean.
He had been instructed in the way of the Lord and was fervent in spirit. He spoke and taught accurately about Jesus (note: BYZ and TR about the Lord), though he knew only the baptism of John.
Il se mit à parler avec assurance dans la synagogue. Priscille et Aquila, l'ayant entendu, le prirent avec eux et lui exposèrent plus à fond la voie du Seigneur.
And he began to speak boldly in the synagogue. When Priscilla and Aquila heard him, they took him aside and explained to him the way of God more accurately.
Et comme il voulait passer en Achaïe, les frères l'approuvèrent et écrivirent aux disciples de le bien recevoir. Quand il fut arrivé, il fut d'un grand secours à ceux qui avaient cru par la grâce,
When Apollos resolved to cross over to Achaia, the brothers encouraged him and wrote to the disciples there to welcome him. On his arrival, he was a great help to those who by grace had believed.
car il réfutait vigoureusement les Juifs en public, démontrant par les Ecritures que Jésus est le Christ.
For he powerfully refuted the Jews in public debate, proving from the Scriptures that Jesus is the Christ.
