And David took a thousand of his chariots, and seven thousand horsemen, and twenty thousand footmen: and David houghed all his chariot [horses], and he reserved to himself a hundred chariots.
David captured from him a thousand chariots, seven thousand charioteers (note: LXX (see also DSS and 1 Chronicles 18:4); MT captured from him seventeen hundred charioteers), and twenty thousand foot soldiers, and he hamstrung all the horses except a hundred he kept for the chariots.
