καὶ ἔλαβεν τὸν υἱὸν αὐτοῦ τὸν πρωτότοκον, ὃς ἐβασίλευσεν ἀντ’ αὐτοῦ, καὶ ἀνήνεγκεν αὐτὸν ὁλοκαύτωμα ἐπὶ τοῦ τείχους· καὶ ἐγένετο μετάμελος μέγας ἐπὶ Ἰσραήλ. καὶ ἀπῆραν ἀπ’ αὐτοῦ καὶ ἐπέστρεψαν εἰς τὴν γῆν.
So he took his firstborn son, who was to succeed him, and offered him as a burnt offering on the city wall. And there was great fury against the Israelites (note: Or And Israel’s fury was great), so they withdrew and returned to their own land.
