Then Samuel took a stone, and set it between Mizpah and Shen, and called the name of it Eben-ezer (note: That is, The stone of help.), saying: ‘Hitherto hath the LORD helped us.’
Afterward, Samuel took a stone and set it up between Mizpah and Shen (note: Hebrew; LXX and Syriac Jeshanah). He named it Ebenezer (note: Ebenezer means stone of help.), saying, “Thus far the LORD has helped us.”
