Καὶ Σαοὺλ ἔλαχεν τοῦ βασιλεύειν, κατακληροῦται ἔργον ἐπὶ Ἰσραήλ· καὶ κύκλῳ πάντας τοὺς ἐχθροὺς αὐτοῦ, εἰς τὸν Μωὰβ καὶ εἰς υἱοὺς Ἄμμων καὶ εἰς τοὺς υἱοὺς Ἐδὼμ καὶ εἰς τὸν Βαιθὼρ καὶ εἰς βασιλέα Σουβὰ καὶ εἰς τοὺς ἀλλοφύλους· οὗ ἂν ἐστράφη ἐσώζετο.
After Saul had assumed the kings (note: MT; DSS and LXX king)hip over Israel, he fought against all his enemies on every side—the Moabites, the Ammonites, the Edomites, the kings of Zobah, and the Philistines. Wherever he turned, he routed them (note: Or he inflicted punishment on them from Hebrew; LXX he was victorious).
