Wherefore it came to pass, when the time was come about (note: Heb. revelation of days) after Hannah had conceived, that she bare a son, and called his name Samuel (note: That is, asked of God), saying, Because I have asked him of the Lord.
So in the course of time, Hannah conceived and gave birth to a son. She named him Samuel (note: Samuel sounds like the Hebrew for heard of God.), saying, “Because I have asked for him from the LORD.”
