Zur selben Zeit baute Hiel von Beth-El Jericho. Es kostete ihn seinen ersten Sohn Abiram, da er den Grund legte, und den jüngsten Sohn Segub, da er die Türen setzte, nach dem Wort des HErrn, das er geredet hatte durch Josua, den Sohn Nuns.
In Ahab’s days, Hiel the Bethelite rebuilt Jericho. At the cost of Abiram his firstborn he laid its foundation, and at the cost of Segub his youngest he set up its gates, according to the word that the LORD had spoken through Joshua son of Nun (note: See Joshua 6:26.).
