Now about the collection for the saints, you are to do as I directed the churches of Galatia:
Le premier jour de la semaine, que chacun de vous mette à part chez lui, et amasse ce qu'il peut épargner, afin qu'on n'attende pas mon arrivée pour faire les collectes.
On the first day of every week, each of you should set aside a portion of his income, saving it up, so that when I come no collections will be needed.
Et quand je serai arrivé, j'enverrai avec des lettres ceux que vous aurez désignés, porter vos libéralités à Jérusalem.
Then, on my arrival, I will send letters with those you recommend to carry your gift to Jerusalem.
S'il convient que j'y aille aussi moi-même, ils feront le voyage avec moi.
And if it is advisable for me to go also, they can travel with me.
J'irai chez vous quand j'aurai passé par la Macédoine ; car je la traverserai seulement ;
After I go through Macedonia, however, I will come to you; for I will be going through Macedonia.
mais peut-être séjournerai-je auprès de vous, ou même y passerai-je l'hiver, afin que ce soit vous qui m'accompagniez là où je dois aller.
Perhaps I will stay with you awhile, or even spend the winter, so that you can help me on my journey, wherever I go.
Je ne veux pas cette fois vous voir seulement en passant, mais j'espère demeurer quelque temps auprès de vous, si le Seigneur le permet.
For I do not want to see you now only in passing; I hope to spend some time with you, if the Lord permits.
Je resterai cependant à Ephèse jusqu'à la Pentecôte ;
But I will stay in Ephesus until Pentecost (note: That is, Shavuot, the late spring feast of pilgrimage to Jerusalem; it is also known as the Feast of Harvest (see Exodus 23:16) or the Feast of Weeks (see Exodus 34:22).),
car une porte m'est ouverte, grande et efficace, et les adversaires sont nombreux.
because a great door for effective work has opened to me, even though many oppose me.
Si Timothée vient chez vous, faites en sorte qu'il soit sans crainte parmi vous, car il travaille comme moi à l'œuvre du Seigneur.
If Timothy comes, see to it that he has nothing to fear while he is with you, for he is doing the work of the Lord, just as I am.
Que personne donc ne le méprise. Reconduisez-le en paix, afin qu'il vienne me trouver, car je l'attends avec les frères.
No one, then, should treat him with contempt. Send him on his way in peace so that he can return to me, for I am expecting him along with the brothers.
Pour ce qui est de notre frère Apollos, je l'ai fortement engagé à se rendre chez vous avec les frères, mais il n'a absolument pas voulu le faire maintenant ; il ira quand il en trouvera l'occasion.
Now about our brother Apollos: I strongly urged him to go to you with the brothers. He was not at all inclined to go now, but he will go when he has the opportunity.
Veillez, demeurez fermes dans la foi, soyez des hommes, fortifiez-vous.
Be on the alert. Stand firm in the faith. Be men of courage. Be strong.
Je vous adresse encore cette recommandation, frères. Vous savez que la famille de Stéphanas est les prémices de l'Achaïe, et qu'elle s'est dévouée aux services des saints :
You know that Stephanas and his household were the first converts in Achaia, and they have devoted themselves to the service of the saints. Now I urge you, brothers,
ayez à votre tour de la déférence pour des hommes de ce mérite, et pour quiconque coopère et travaille à la même œuvre.
to submit to such as these, and to every fellow worker and laborer.
Je suis heureux de la présence de Stéphanas, de Fortunat et d'Achaïque ; ils ont suppléé à votre absence,
I am glad that Stephanas, Fortunatus, and Achaicus have arrived, because they have supplied what was lacking from you.
car ils ont tranquillisé mon esprit et le vôtre. Sachez donc apprécier de tels hommes.
For they refreshed my spirit and yours as well. Show your appreciation, therefore, to such men.
Les Eglises d'Asie vous saluent. Aquilas et Priscille, avec l'Eglise qui est dans leur maison, vous saluent beaucoup dans le Seigneur.
The churches in the province of Asia send you greetings. Aquila and Prisca (note: Prisca is a variant of Priscilla; see Acts 18:2.) greet you warmly in the Lord, and so does the church that meets at their house.

All the brothers here send you greetings. Greet one another with a holy kiss.

If anyone does not love the Lord, let him be under a curse. Come, O Lord (note: Greek Marana Tha! from a transliteration of the Aramaic, an exclamation of approaching divine judgment)!
