Je vous rappelle, frères, l'Evangile que je vous ai annoncé, que vous avez reçu, dans lequel vous avez persévéré,
Now, brothers, I want to remind you of the gospel I preached to you, which you received, and in which you stand firm.
et par lequel aussi vous êtes sauvés, si vous le retenez tel que je vous l'ai annoncé ; à moins que vous n'ayez cru en vain.
By this gospel you are saved, if you hold firmly to the word I preached to you. Otherwise, you have believed in vain.
Je vous ai enseigné avant tout, comme je l'ai appris moi-même, que le Christ est mort pour nos péchés, conformément aux Ecritures ;
For what I received I passed on to you as of first importance: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures,
qu'il a été enseveli et qu'il est ressuscité le troisième jour, conformément aux Ecritures ;
that He was buried, that He was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures,
et qu'il est apparu à Céphas, puis aux Douze.
and that He appeared to Cephas (note: That is, Peter) and then to the Twelve.
Après cela, il est apparu en une seule fois à plus de cinq cents frères, dont la plupart sont encore vivants, et quelques-uns se sont endormis.
After that, He appeared to more than five hundred brothers at once, most of whom are still living, though some have fallen asleep.
Ensuite il est apparu à Jacques, puis à tous les apôtres.
Then He appeared to James, then to all the apostles.
Après eux tous, il m'est aussi apparu à moi, comme à l'avorton.
And last of all He appeared to me also, as to one of untimely birth.
Car je suis le moindre des Apôtres, moi qui ne suis pas digne d'être appelé apôtre, parce que j'ai persécuté l'Eglise de Dieu.
For I am the least of the apostles and am unworthy to be called an apostle, because I persecuted the church of God.
C'est par la grâce de Dieu que je suis ce que je suis, et sa grâce envers moi n'a pas été vaine ; loin de là, j'ai travaillé plus qu'eux tous, non pas moi pourtant, mais la grâce de Dieu qui est avec moi.
But by the grace of God I am what I am, and His grace to me was not in vain. No, I worked harder than all of them—yet not I, but the grace of God that was with me.
Ainsi donc, soit moi, soit eux, voilà ce que nous prêchons, et voilà ce que vous avez cru.
Whether, then, it was I or they, this is what we preach, and this is what you believed.
Or, si l'on prêche que le Christ est ressuscité des morts, comment quelques-uns parmi vous disent-ils qu'il n'y a point de résurrection des morts ?
But if it is preached that Christ has been raised from the dead, how can some of you say that there is no resurrection of the dead?
S'il n'y a point de résurrection des morts, le Christ non plus n'est pas ressuscité.
If there is no resurrection of the dead, then not even Christ has been raised.
Et si le Christ n'est pas ressuscité, notre prédication est donc vaine, vaine aussi est votre foi.
And if Christ has not been raised, our preaching is worthless, and so is your faith.
Il se trouve même que nous sommes de faux témoins à l'égard de Dieu, puisque nous avons témoigné contre lui qu'il a ressuscité le Christ, tandis qu'il ne l'aurait pas ressuscité, s'il est vrai que les morts ne ressuscitent pas.
In that case, we are also exposed as false witnesses about God. For we have testified about God that He raised Christ from the dead, but He did not raise Him if in fact the dead are not raised.
Car si les morts ne ressuscitent pas, le Christ non plus n'est pas ressuscité.
For if the dead are not raised, then not even Christ has been raised.
Et si le Christ n'est pas ressuscité, votre foi est vaine, vous êtes encore dans vos péchés,
And if Christ has not been raised, your faith is futile; you are still in your sins.
et par conséquent aussi, ceux qui se sont endormis dans le Christ sont perdus.
Then those also who have fallen asleep in Christ have perished.
Si nous n'avons d'espérance dans le Christ que pour cette vie seulement, nous sommes les plus malheureux de tous les hommes.
If our hope in Christ is for this life alone, we are to be pitied more than all men.
Mais maintenant le Christ est ressuscité des morts, il est les prémices de ceux qui se sont endormis.
But Christ has indeed been raised from the dead, the firstfruits of those who have fallen asleep.
Car, puisque par un homme est venue la mort, c'est par un homme aussi que vient la résurrection des morts.
For since death came through a man, the resurrection of the dead comes also through a man.
Et comme tous meurent en Adam, de même aussi tous seront vivifiés dans le Christ,
For as in Adam all die, so in Christ all will be made alive.
mais chacun en son rang : comme prémices le Christ, ensuite ceux qui appartiennent au Christ, lors de son avènement.
But each in his own turn: Christ the firstfruits; then at His coming, those who belong to Him.
Puis ce sera la fin, quand il remettra le royaume à Dieu et au Père, après avoir anéanti toute principauté, toute puissance et toute force.
Then the end will come, when He hands over the kingdom to God the Father after He has destroyed all dominion, authority, and power.
Car il faut qu'il règne : " jusqu'à ce qu'il ait mis tous ses ennemis sous ses pieds. "
For He must reign until He has put all His enemies under His feet.
car Dieu " a tout mis sous ses pieds. " Mais lorsque l'Ecriture dit que tout lui a été soumis, il est évident que celui-là est excepté, qui lui a soumis toutes choses.
For “God has put everything under His feet (note: Psalm 8:6).” Now when it says that everything has been put under Him, this clearly does not include the One who put everything under Him.
Et lorsque tout lui aura été soumis, alors le Fils lui-même fera hommage à celui qui lui aura soumis toutes choses, afin que Dieu soit tout en tous.
And when all things have been subjected to Him, then the Son Himself will be made subject to Him who put all things under Him, so that God may be all in all.
Autrement, que feraient ceux qui se font baptiser pour les morts ? Si les morts ne ressuscitent en aucune manière, pourquoi se font-ils baptiser pour eux ?
If these things are not so, what will those do who are baptized for the dead? If the dead are not raised at all, why are people baptized for them?
Et nous-mêmes, pourquoi sommes-nous à toute heure en péril ?
And why do we endanger ourselves every hour?
Chaque jour je suis exposé à la mort, aussi vrai, mes frères, que vous êtes ma gloire en Jésus-Christ notre Seigneur.
I face death every day, brothers, as surely as I boast about you in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Si c'est avec des vues humaines que j'ai combattu contre les bêtes à Ephèse, quel avantage m'en revient-il ? Si les morts ne ressuscitent pas, " mangeons et buvons, car demain nous mourrons. "
If I fought wild beasts in Ephesus for human motives, what did I gain? If the dead are not raised, “Let us eat and drink, for tomorrow we die (note: Isaiah 22:13).”
Ne vous laissez pas séduire : " les mauvaises compagnies corrompent les bonnes mœurs. "
Do not be deceived: “Bad company corrupts good character (note: Probably a quote from the Greek comedy Thais by Menander).”
Revenez à vous-mêmes, sérieusement, et ne péchez point ; car il y en a qui sont dans l'ignorance de Dieu, je le dis à votre honte.
Sober up as you ought, and stop sinning; for some of you are ignorant of God. I say this to your shame.
Mais, dira quelqu'un : Comment les morts ressuscitent-ils ? avec quel corps reviennent-ils ?
But someone will ask, “How are the dead raised? With what kind of body will they come?”
Insensé ! ce que tu sèmes ne reprend pas vie, s'il ne meurt auparavant.
You fool! What you sow does not come to life unless it dies.
Et ce que tu sèmes, ce n'est pas le corps qui sera un jour ; c'est un simple grain, soit de blé, soit de quelque autre semence :
And what you sow is not the body that will be, but just a seed, perhaps of wheat or something else.
mais Dieu lui donne un corps comme il l'a voulu, et à chaque semence il donne le corps qui lui est propre.
But God gives it a body as He has designed, and to each kind of seed He gives its own body.
Toute chair n'est pas la même chair ; autre est la chair des hommes, autre celle des quadrupèdes, autre celle des oiseaux, autre celle des poissons.
Not all flesh is the same: Men have one kind of flesh, animals have another, birds another, and fish another.
Il y a aussi des corps célestes et des corps terrestres ; mais l'éclat des corps célestes est d'une autre nature que celui des corps terrestres :
There are also heavenly bodies and earthly bodies. But the splendor of the heavenly bodies is of one degree, and the splendor of the earthly bodies is of another.
autre est l'éclat du soleil, autre l'éclat de la lune, et autre l'éclat des étoiles ; même une étoile diffère en éclat d'une autre étoile.
The sun has one degree of splendor, the moon another, and the stars another; and star differs from star in splendor.
Ainsi en est-il pour la résurrection des morts. Semé dans la corruption, le corps ressuscite, incorruptible ;
So will it be with the resurrection of the dead: What is sown is perishable; it is raised imperishable.
semé dans l'ignominie, il ressuscite glorieux ; semé dans la faiblesse, il ressuscite plein de force ;
It is sown in dishonor; it is raised in glory. It is sown in weakness; it is raised in power.
semé corps animal, il ressuscite corps spirituel. S'il y a un corps animal, il y aussi un corps spirituel.
It is sown a natural body; it is raised a spiritual body. If there is a natural body, there is also a spiritual body.
C'est en ce sens qu'il est écrit : " Le premier homme, Adam, a été fait âme vivante " ; le dernier Adam a été fait esprit vivifiant.
So it is written: “The first man Adam became a living being (note: Genesis 2:7)”; the last Adam a life-giving spirit.
Mais ce n'est pas ce qui est spirituel qui a été fait d'abord, c'est ce qui est animal ; ce qui est spirituel vient ensuite.
The spiritual, however, was not first, but the natural, and then the spiritual.
Le premier homme, tiré de la terre, est terrestre ; le second vient du ciel.
The first man was of the dust of the earth, the second man from heaven.
Tel est le terrestre, tels sont aussi les terrestres ; et tel est le céleste, tels sont aussi les célestes.
As was the earthly man, so also are those who are of the earth; and as is the heavenly man, so also are those who are of heaven.
Et de même que nous avons porté l'image du terrestre, nous porterons aussi l'image du céleste.
And just as we have borne the likeness of the earthly man, so also shall we bear the likeness of the heavenly man.
Ce que j'affirme, frères, c'est que ni la chair ni le sang ne peuvent hériter le royaume de Dieu, et que la corruption n'héritera pas l'incorruptibilité.
Now I declare to you, brothers, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God, nor does the perishable inherit the imperishable.
Voici un mystère que je vous révèle : Nous ne nous endormirons pas tous, mais tous nous serons changés,
Listen, I tell you a mystery: We will not all sleep, but we will all be changed—
en un instant, en un clin d'œil, au son de la dernière trompette, car la trompette retentira et les morts ressusciteront incorruptibles, et nous, nous serons changés.
in an instant, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, the dead will be raised imperishable, and we will be changed.
Car il faut que ce corps corruptible revête l'incorruptibilité, et que ce corps mortel revête l'immortalité.
For the perishable must be clothed (note: Or clothe itself) with the imperishable, and the mortal with immortality.
Lorsque ce corps corruptible aura revêtu l'incorruptibilité, et que ce corps mortel aura revêtu l'immortalité, alors s'accomplira la parole qui est écrite : " La mort a été engloutie pour la victoire. "
When the perishable has been clothed with the imperishable and the mortal with immortality (note: WH does not include and the mortal with immortality.), then the saying that is written will come to pass: “Death has been swallowed up in victory (note: Isaiah 25:8).”
" O mort, où est ta victoire ? O mort, où est ton aiguillon ? "
“Where, O Death, is your victory? Where, O Death, is your sting (note: Hosea 13:14 (see also LXX); BYZ and TR “Where, O Death, is your sting? Where, O Hades, is your victory?”)?”
Or l'aiguillon de la mort, c'est le péché et la puissance du péché, c'est la loi.
The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law.
Mais grâces soient rendues à Dieu, qui nous a donné la victoire par Notre-Seigneur Jésus-Christ !
But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ!
Ainsi, mes frères bien-aimés, soyez fermes, inébranlables, travaillant de plus en plus à l'œuvre du Seigneur, sachant que votre travail n'est pas vain dans le Seigneur.
Therefore, my beloved brothers, be steadfast and immovable. Always excel in the work of the Lord, because you know that your labor in the Lord is not in vain.
