Καὶ πᾶς Ἰσραὴλ ὁ συνλοχισμὸς αὐτῶν, καὶ οὗτοι καταγεγραμμένοι ἐν βιβλίῳ τῶν βασιλέων Ἰσραὴλ καὶ Ἰούδα μετὰ τῶν καίοι κισθέντων εἰς Βαβυλῶνα ἐν ταῖς ἀνομίαις αὐτῶν.
So all Israel was recorded in the genealogies written in the Book of the Kings of Israel. But Judah was exiled to Babylon because of their unfaithfulness.
Καὶ οἱ κατοικοῦντες πρότερον ἐν ταῖς κατασχέσεσιν αὐτῶν ἐν ταῖς πόλεσιν Ἰσραήλ, υἱοὶ Λευεῖται, οἱ ἱερεῖς καὶ οἱ δεδομένοι.
Now the first to resettle their own property in their cities were Israelites, priests, Levites, and temple servants (note: Hebrew Nethinim).
καὶ ἐν Ἰερουσαλὴμ κατήκησαν ἀπὸ τῶν υἱῶν Ἰούδα καὶ ἀπὸ τῶν υἱῶν Βενιαμεὶν καὶ τῶν υἱῶν Ἐφράιμ καὶ Μανασσή.
Some of the descendants of Judah, Benjamin, Ephraim, and Manasseh lived in Jerusalem:
καὶ Γωθεὶ καὶ υἱὸς Σαμίου υἱοῦ Ἀμρεί, υἱοὶ υἱῶν Φἀρες καὶ υἱοῦ Ἰούδα.
Uthai son of Ammihud, the son of Omri, the son of Imri, the son of Bani, a descendant of Perez son of Judah.
καὶ ἐκ τῶν Σηλωνεὶ Ἀσαιὰ πρωτότοκος αὐτοῦ.
From the Shilonites: Asaiah the firstborn and his sons.
ἐκ τῶν υἱῶν Ζάρα Ἐπειὴλ καὶ ἀδελφοὶ αὐτῶν ἑξακόσιοι καὶ ἐνενήκοντα.
From the Zerahites: Jeuel and 690 relatives.
καὶ ἐκ τῶν υἱῶν Βενιαμεὶν Σαλὼμ υἱὸς Μοολλὰμ υἱὸς Οδυιὰ υἱὸς Ἀανά,
From the Benjamites: Sallu son of Meshullam, the son of Hodaviah, the son of Hassenuah;
καὶ Βαναὰμ υἱὸς Ἰραάμ· καὶ οὗτοι υἱοὶ Οζεὶ υἱοῦ Μαχείρ· καὶ Μασεαλὴμ υἱὸς Σαφατιὰ υἱοῦ Ῥαγουὴλ υἱρῦ Βαναιά,
Ibneiah son of Jeroham; Elah son of Uzzi, the son of Michri; Meshullam son of Shephatiah, the son of Reuel, the son of Ibnijah;
καὶ ἀδελφοὶ αὐτῶν κατὰ γενέσεις αὐτῶν ἐννακόσιοι πεντήκοντα ἕξ, πάντες οἱ ἄνδρες ἄρχοντες πατριῶν κατʼ οἴκους πατριῶν αὐτῶν.
and 956 of their relatives according to their genealogy. All these men were heads of their families.
Καὶ ἀπὸ τῶν ἱερέων Ἰωδᾶε καὶ Ἰωαρεὶμ καὶ Ἰαχείν
From the priests: Jedaiah, Jehoiarib, and Jachin;
καὶ Ἀζαρία υἱοὶ Κελκειὰ υἱοῦ Μοσολλὸμ υἱοῦ Σαδὼκ υἱοῦ Μαρμὼθ υἱοῦ Ἀχειτὼβ ἡγούμενος οἴκου τοῦ θεοῦ,
Azariah son of Hilkiah, the son of Meshullam, the son of Zadok, the son of Meraioth, the son of Ahitub, the chief official of God’s temple;
καὶ Ἀδαιὰ υἱὸς Ἰραὰμ υἱοῦ Πασχὼρ υἱοῦ Μαλχειά, καὶ Μαασαιὰ υἱὸς Ἀδιὴλ υἱοῦ Ἰεδειοὺ υἱοῦ Μοσολλὰμ υἱοῦ Μασελμὼθ υἱοῦ Ἐμήρ
Adaiah son of Jeroham, the son of Pashhur, the son of Malchijah; Maasai son of Adiel, the son of Jahzerah, the son of Meshullam, the son of Meshillemith (note: Meshillemith is a variant of Meshillemoth; see Nehemiah 11:13.), the son of Immer;
καὶν ἀδελφοὶ αὐτῶν, ἄρχοντες οἴκων πατριῶν, χίλιοι ἑπτακόσιοι ἑξήκοντα, ἰσχυροὶ δυνάμει εἰς ἐργασίαν λειτουργίας οἵκου τοῦ θεοῦ.
and 1,760 of their relatives, the heads of their families, able men for the work of the service of the house of God.
Καὶ ἐκ τῶν Λευειτῶν Σαμαιὰ υἱὸς Ἀσὼβ υἱοῦ Ἐσρεικὰν υἱοῦ Ἀσαβιὰ ἐκ τῶν υἱῶν Μεραρεί,
From the Levites: Shemaiah son of Hasshub, the son of Azrikam, the son of Hashabiah, a descendant of Merari;
καὶ Βακὰρ καὶ Ῥαραιήλ, Γαλαὰδ καὶ Μανθανίας υἱὸς Μειχὰ υἱοῦ Ζεχρεὶ υἱοῦ Ἀσάφ,
Bakbakkar, Heresh, Galal, and Mattaniah son of Mica, the son of Zichri, the son of Asaph;
καὶ Ἀβδειὰ υἱὸς Σαμειὰ υἱοῦ Γαλαὰδ υἱοῦ Ἰωθών, καὶ Βαραχεὶ υἱὸς Ὀσσα υἱοῦ Ἠλκανὰ ὁ κατοικῶν ἐν ταῖς κώμαις Νωτεφατεί.
Obadiah son of Shemaiah, the son of Galal, the son of Jeduthun; and Berechiah son of Asa, the son of Elkanah, who lived in the villages of the Netophathites.
οἱ πυλωροί Σαλώμ, Ἀκούμ, Ταμμὰμ καὶ Αἰμὰμ καὶ ἀδελφοὶ αὐτῶν, Σαλὼμ ὁ ἄρχων·
These were the gatekeepers: Shallum, Akkub, Talmon, Ahiman, and their relatives. Shallum was their chief;
καὶ ἕως ταύτης ἐν τῇ πύλῃ τοῦ βασιλέως κατʼ ἀνατολάς· αὗται αἱ πύλαι τῶν παρεμβολῶν υἱῶν Λευεί.
he was previously stationed at the King’s Gate on the east side. These were the gatekeepers from the camp of the Levites.
καὶ Σαλωμὼν υἱὸς Κωρὴβ υἱοῦ Ἀβιασὰφ υἱοῦ Κόρε καὶ οἱ ἀδελφοὶ αὐτοῦ εἰς οἶκον πατρὸς αὐτοῦ, οἱ Κορεῖται, ἐπὶ τῶν ἔργων τῆς λειτουργίας φυλάσσοντες τὰς φυλακὰς τῆς σκηνῆς· καὶ πατέρες αὐτῶν ἐπὶ τῆς παρεμβολῆς φυλάσσοντες τὴν εἴσοδον.
Shallum son of Kore, the son of Ebiasaph (note: Ebiasaph is a variant of Abiasaph; see Exodus 6:24.), the son of Korah, and his relatives from the Korahites were assigned to guard the thresholds of the Tent, just as their fathers had been assigned to guard the entrance to the dwelling of the LORD.
καὶ Φεινεὲς υἱὸς Ἐλεάζαρ ἡγούμενος ἦν ἐπʼ αὐτῶν ἔμπροσθεν, καὶ οὗτοι μετʼ αὐτοῦ.
In earlier times Phinehas son of Eleazar had been in charge of the gatekeepers, and the LORD was with him.
Ζαχαρίας υἱὸς Μασαλαμὶ πυλωρὸς τῆς θύρας τῆς σκηνῆς τοῦ μαρτυρίου.
Zechariah son of Meshelemiah was the gatekeeper at the entrance to the Tent of Meeting.
πάντες οἱ ἐκλεκτοὶ ταῖς πύλαις ἐν ταῖς πύλαις διακόσιοι καὶ δέκα δύο· οὗτοι ἐν ταῖς αὐλαῖς αὐτῶν, ὁ καταλοχισμὸς αὐτῶν· τούτους ἔστησεν Δαυεὶδ καὶ Σαμουὴλ ὁ βλέπων τῇ πίστει αὐτῶν.
The number of those chosen to be gatekeepers at the thresholds was 212. They were registered by genealogy in their villages. David and Samuel the seer had appointed them to their positions of trust.
καὶ οὗτοι καὶ οἱ υἱοὶ αὐτῶν ἐπὶ τῶν πυλῶν ἐν οἴκῳ Κυρίου, ἐν οἴκῳ τῆς σκηνῆς, τοῦ φυλάσσειν.
So they and their descendants were assigned to guard the gates of the house of the LORD—the house called the Tent.
κατὰ τοὺς τέσσαρας ἀνέμους ἦσαν αἱ πύλαι, κατʼ ἀνατολάς, θάλασσαν, βορρᾶν, νότον.
The gatekeepers were stationed on the four sides: east, west, north, and south.
καὶ ἀδελφοὶ αὐτῶν ἐν ταῖς αὐλαῖς αὐτῶν τοῦ εἰσπορεύεσθαι κατὰ ἑπτὰ ἡμέρας ἀπὸ καιροῦ εἰς καιρὸν μετὰ τούτων·
Their relatives came from their villages at fixed times to serve with them for seven-day periods.
ὅτὶ ἐν πίστει εἰσὶν τέσσαρες δυνατοὶ τῶν πυλῶν. οἱ Λευεῖται ἦσαν ἐπὶ τῶν παστοφορίων, καὶ ἐπὶ τῶν θησαυρῶν οἴκου τοῦ θεοῦ παρεμβαλοῦσιν·
But the four chief gatekeepers, who were Levites, were entrusted with the rooms and the treasuries of the house of God.
ὅτι ἐπʼ αὐτοὺς φυλακή· καὶ οὗτοι ἐπὶ τῶν κλειδῶν τὸ πρωὶ πρωὶ ἀνοίγειν τὰς θύρας τοῦ ἱεροῦ.
They would spend the night stationed around the house of God, because they were responsible for guarding it and opening it every morning.
καὶ ἐξ αὐτῶν ἐπὶ τὰ σκεύη τῆς λειτουργίας, ὅτι ἐν ἀριθμῷ εἰσοίσουσιν.
Some of them were in charge of the articles used in worship, to count them whenever they were brought in or taken out.
καὶ ἐξ αὐτῶν καθτσταμένοι ἐπὶ τὰ σκεύη καὶ ἐπὶ πάντα σκεύη τὰ ἅγια, καὶ ἐπὶ τῆς σεμιδάλεως, τοῦ οἴνου, τοῦ ἐλαίου, τοῦ λιβανωτοῦ καὶ τῶν ἀρωμάταον.
Others were put in charge of the furnishings and other articles of the sanctuary, as well as the fine flour, wine, oil, frankincense, and spices.
καὶ ἀπὸ τῶν υἱῶν τῶυ ἱερέων ἦσαν μυρεψοὶ τοῦ μύρου καὶ εἰς τὰ ἀρῶματα.
And some of the sons of the priests mixed the spices.
καὶ Ματταθίας ἐκ τῶν Λευειτῶν, οὗτος ὁ πρωτότοκος τῷ Σαλὼμ τῷ Κορείτῃ, ἐν τῇ πίστει ἐπὶ τὰ ἔργα τῆς θυσίας τοῦ τηγάνου τοῦ μεγάλου ἱερέως.
A Levite named Mattithiah, the firstborn son of Shallum the Korahite, was entrusted with baking the bread.
καὶ Βαναίας ὁ Κααθείτης ἐκ τῶν ἀδελφῶν αὐτῶν ἐπὶ τῶν ἄρτων τῆς προθέσεως, τοῦ ἑτοιμάσαι σάββατον κατὰ σάββατον.
Some of their Kohathite relatives were responsible for preparing the rows of the showbread every Sabbath.
καὶ οὗτοι ψαλτῳδοί, ἄρχοντες τῶν πατριῶν τῶν Λευειτῶν, διατεταγμέναι ἐφημερίαι· ὅτι ἡμέρα καὶ νὺξ ἐπʼ αὐτοῖς ἐν τοῖς ἔργοις.
Those who were musicians, the heads of Levite families, stayed in the temple chambers and were exempt from other duties because they were on duty day and night.
ὗτοι ἄρχοντες τῶν πατριόν, κατὰ γενέσεις αὐτῶν ἄρχοντες· οὗτοι κατοίκησαν ἐν Ἰερουσαλήμ.
All these were heads of Levite families, chiefs according to their genealogies, and they lived in Jerusalem.
Καὶ ἐν Γαβαὼν κατώκησεν πατὴρ Γαβαωνεὶ Ἴηι, καὶ ὄνομα γυναικὸς αὐτοῦ Μοωχά·
Jeiel the father (note: Or the founder) of Gibeon lived in Gibeon. His wife’s name was Maacah.
καὶ υἱὸς αὐτοῦ ὁ πρωτότοκος Σαβαδών, καὶ Ἰσεὶρ καὶ Κεὶς καὶ Βάαλ καὶ Νὴρ καὶ Ναδάβ
Abdon was his firstborn son, then Zur, Kish, Baal, Ner, Nadab,
καὶ Μακελλὼθ ἐγέννησεν τὸν Σαμαά· καὶ οὗτοι ἐν μέσῳ τῶν ἀδελ. φῶν αὐτῶν κατῷκησαν ἐν Ἰερουσαλὴμ ἐν μέσῳ τῶν ἀδελφῶν αὐτῶν.
Mikloth was the father of Shimeam (note: Shimeam is a variant of Shimeah; see 1 Chronicles 8:32.). They too lived alongside their relatives in Jerusalem.
καὶ Νὴρ ἐγέννησεν τὸν Κείς, καὶ Κεὶς ἐγέννησεν τὸν Σαούλ, καὶ Σαοὺλ ἐγέννησεν τὸν Ἰωναθὰν καὶ τὸν Μελχεισοῦε καὶ τὸν Ἀμειναδὰβ καὶτὸν Ἰεβάαλ.
Ner was the father of Kish, Kish was the father of Saul, and Saul was the father of Jonathan, Malchishua, Abinadab, and Esh-baal.
καὶ υἱὸς Ἰωναθὰν Μαρειβάαλ· καὶ Μαρειβάαλ ἐγέννησεν τὸν Μειχά.
The son of Jonathan: Merib-baal, who was the father of Micah.
καὶ υἱοὶ Μειχά· Φαιθὼν καὶ Μάλαχ καὶ Θαράχ.
The sons of Micah: Pithon, Melech, Tahrea, and Ahaz.
καὶ Ἀχὰζ ἐγέννησεν τὸν Ἰάδα, καὶ Ἰάδα ἐγέννησεν τὸν Γαμέλεθ καὶ τὸν Γαζάωθ καὶ τὸν Ζαμβρεί, καὶ Ζαμβρεὶ ἐγέννησεν τὸν Μάσσά,
Ahaz was the father of Jarah (note: Most Hebrew manuscripts; some Hebrew manuscripts and LXX Jadah; Jadah; note that Jarah and Jadah are variants of Jehoaddah; see 1 Chronicles 8:36.); Jarah was the father of Alemeth, Azmaveth, and Zimri; and Zimri was the father of Moza.
καὶ Μασκὰ ἐγέννησεν τὸν Βαανά, Ῥαφαιὰ υἱὸς αὐτοῦ, Ἐσαὴλ υἱὸς αὐτοῦ.
Moza was the father of Binea. Rephaiah (note: Rephaiah is a variant of Raphah; see 1 Chronicles 8:37.) was his son, Elasah his son, and Azel his son.
κοί τῷ Ἐσὴλ ἴξ υἱοί, καὶταῦτα τὰ ὀνόματα αὐτῶν· Ἐσδρεικὰν πρωτότοκος αὐτοῦ, Ἰσμαὴλ καὶ Σαριὰ καὶ Ἀβδειὰ καὶ Ἀνάν· οὗτοι υἱοὶ Ἐσήλ.
And Azel had six sons, and these were their names: Azrikam, Bocheru, Ishmael, Sheariah, Obadiah, and Hanan. These were the sons of Azel.
