9:1

καὶ πᾶς Ισραηλ ὁ συλλοχισμὸς αὐτῶν καὶ οὗτοι καταγεγραμμένοι ἐν βιβλίῳ τῶν βασιλέων Ισραηλ καὶ Ιουδα μετὰ τῶν ἀποικισθέντων εἰς Βαβυλῶνα ἐν ταῖς ἀνομίαις αὐτῶν

So all Israel was recorded in the genealogies written in the Book of the Kings of Israel. But Judah was exiled to Babylon because of their unfaithfulness.

9:2

καὶ οἱ κατοικοῦντες πρότερον ἐν ταῖς κατασχέσεσιν αὐτῶν ἐν ταῖς πόλεσιν Ισραηλ οἱ ἱερεῖς οἱ Λευῖται καὶ οἱ δεδομένοι

Now the first to resettle their own property in their cities were Israelites, priests, Levites, .

9:3

καὶ ἐν Ιερουσαλημ κατῴκησαν ἀπὸ τῶν υἱῶν Ιουδα καὶ ἀπὸ τῶν υἱῶν Βενιαμιν καὶ ἀπὸ τῶν υἱῶν Εφραιμ καὶ Μανασση

Some of the descendants of Judah, Benjamin, Ephraim, and Manasseh lived in Jerusalem:

9:4

Γωθι υἱὸς Αμμιουδ υἱοῦ Αμρι υἱοῦ υἱῶν Φαρες υἱοῦ Ιουδα

Uthai son of Ammihud, the son of Omri, the son of Imri, the son of Bani, a descendant of Perez son of Judah.

9:5

καὶ ἐκ τῶν Σηλωνι Ασαια πρωτότοκος αὐτοῦ καὶ υἱοὶ αὐτοῦ

From the Shilonites: Asaiah the firstborn and his sons.

9:6

ἐκ τῶν υἱῶν Ζαρα Ιιηλ καὶ ἀδελφοὶ αὐτῶν ἑξακόσιοι καὶ ἐνενήκοντα

From the Zerahites: Jeuel and 690 relatives.

9:7

καὶ ἐκ τῶν υἱῶν Βενιαμιν Σαλω υἱὸς Μοσολλαμ υἱοῦ Ωδουια υἱοῦ Σαναα

From the Benjamites: Sallu son of Meshullam, the son of Hodaviah, the son of Hassenuah;

9:8

καὶ Ιβαναα υἱὸς Ιρααμ καὶ οὗτοι υἱοὶ Οζι υἱοῦ Μαχιρ καὶ Μασσαλημ υἱὸς Σαφατια υἱοῦ Ραγουηλ υἱοῦ Βαναια

Ibneiah son of Jeroham; Elah son of Uzzi, the son of Michri; Meshullam son of Shephatiah, the son of Reuel, the son of Ibnijah;

9:9

καὶ ἀδελφοὶ αὐτῶν κατὰ γενέσεις αὐτῶν ἐννακόσιοι πεντήκοντα ἕξ πάντες οἱ ἄνδρες ἄρχοντες πατριῶν κατ᾿ οἴκους πατριῶν αὐτῶν

and 956 of their relatives according to their genealogy. All these men were heads of their families.

9:10

καὶ ἀπὸ τῶν ἱερέων Ιωδαε καὶ Ιωαριμ καὶ Ιαχιν

From the priests: Jedaiah, Jehoiarib, and Jachin;

9:11

καὶ Αζαρια υἱὸς Χελκια υἱοῦ Μοσολλαμ υἱοῦ Σαδωκ υἱοῦ Μαραιωθ υἱοῦ Αχιτωβ ἡγούμενος οἴκου τοῦ θεοῦ

Azariah son of Hilkiah, the son of Meshullam, the son of Zadok, the son of Meraioth, the son of Ahitub, the chief official of God’s temple;

9:12

καὶ Αδαια υἱὸς Ιρααμ υἱοῦ Πασχωρ υἱοῦ Μαλχια καὶ Μαασαια υἱὸς Αδιηλ υἱοῦ Ιεδιου υἱοῦ Μοσολλαμ υἱοῦ Μασελμωθ υἱοῦ Εμμηρ

Adaiah son of Jeroham, the son of Pashhur, the son of Malchijah; Maasai son of Adiel, the son of Jahzerah, the son of Meshullam, the son , the son of Immer;

9:13

καὶ ἀδελφοὶ αὐτῶν ἄρχοντες οἴκων πατριῶν χίλιοι ἑπτακόσιοι ἑξήκοντα ἰσχυροὶ δυνάμει εἰς ἐργασίαν λειτουργίας οἴκου τοῦ θεοῦ

and 1,760 of their relatives, the heads of their families, able men for the work of the service of the house of God.

9:14

καὶ ἐκ τῶν Λευιτῶν Σαμαια υἱὸς Ασωβ υἱοῦ Εσρικαμ υἱοῦ Ασαβια ἐκ τῶν υἱῶν Μεραρι

From the Levites: Shemaiah son of Hasshub, the son of Azrikam, the son of Hashabiah, a descendant of Merari;

9:15

καὶ Βακβακαρ καὶ Αρης καὶ Γαλαλ καὶ Μανθανιας υἱὸς Μιχα υἱοῦ Ζεχρι υἱοῦ Ασαφ

Bakbakkar, Heresh, Galal, and Mattaniah son of Mica, the son of Zichri, the son of Asaph;

9:16

καὶ Αβδια υἱὸς Σαμια υἱοῦ Γαλαλ υἱοῦ Ιδιθων καὶ Βαραχια υἱὸς Οσσα υἱοῦ Ηλκανα ὁ κατοικῶν ἐν ταῖς κώμαις Νετωφατι

Obadiah son of Shemaiah, the son of Galal, the son of Jeduthun; and Berechiah son of Asa, the son of Elkanah, who lived in the villages of the Netophathites.

9:17

οἱ πυλωροί Σαλωμ καὶ Ακουβ καὶ Ταλμαν καὶ Αιμαν καὶ ἀδελφοὶ αὐτῶν Σαλωμ ὁ ἄρχων

These were the gatekeepers: Shallum, Akkub, Talmon, Ahiman, and their relatives. Shallum was their chief;

9:18

καὶ ἕως ταύτης ἐν τῇ πύλῃ τοῦ βασιλέως κατ᾿ ἀνατολάς αὗται αἱ πύλαι τῶν παρεμβολῶν υἱῶν Λευι

he was previously stationed at the King’s Gate on the east side. These were the gatekeepers from the camp of the Levites.

9:19

καὶ Σαλωμ υἱὸς Κωρη υἱοῦ Αβιασαφ υἱοῦ Κορε καὶ οἱ ἀδελφοὶ αὐτοῦ εἰς οἶκον πατρὸς αὐτοῦ οἱ Κορῖται ἐπὶ τῶν ἔργων τῆς λειτουργίας φυλάσσοντες τὰς φυλακὰς τῆς σκηνῆς καὶ πατέρες αὐτῶν ἐπὶ τῆς παρεμβολῆς κυρίου φυλάσσοντες τὴν εἴσοδον

Shallum son of Kore, the son , the son of Korah, and his relatives from the Korahites were assigned to guard the thresholds of the Tent, just as their fathers had been assigned to guard the entrance to the dwelling of the LORD.

9:20

καὶ Φινεες υἱὸς Ελεαζαρ ἡγούμενος ἦν ἐπ᾿ αὐτῶν ἔμπροσθεν καὶ οὗτοι μετ᾿ αὐτοῦ

In earlier times Phinehas son of Eleazar had been in charge of the gatekeepers, and the LORD was with him.

9:21

Ζαχαριας υἱὸς Μασαλαμι πυλωρὸς τῆς θύρας τῆς σκηνῆς τοῦ μαρτυρίου

Zechariah son of Meshelemiah was the gatekeeper at the entrance to the Tent of Meeting.

9:22

πάντες οἱ ἐκλεκτοὶ ταῖς πύλαις ἐν ταῖς πύλαις διακόσιοι καὶ δέκα δύο οὗτοι ἐν ταῖς αὐλαῖς αὐτῶν ὁ καταλοχισμὸς αὐτῶν τούτους ἔστησεν Δαυιδ καὶ Σαμουηλ ὁ βλέπων τῇ πίστει αὐτῶν

The number of those chosen to be gatekeepers at the thresholds was 212. They were registered by genealogy in their villages. David and Samuel the seer had appointed them to their positions of trust.

9:23

καὶ οὗτοι καὶ οἱ υἱοὶ αὐτῶν ἐπὶ τῶν πυλῶν ἐν οἴκῳ κυρίου ἐν οἴκῳ τῆς σκηνῆς τοῦ φυλάσσειν

So they and their descendants were assigned to guard the gates of the house of the LORD—the house called the Tent.

9:24

κατὰ τοὺς τέσσαρας ἀνέμους ἦσαν αἱ πύλαι κατ᾿ ἀνατολάς θάλασσαν βορρᾶν νότον

The gatekeepers were stationed on the four sides: east, west, north, and south.

9:25

καὶ ἀδελφοὶ αὐτῶν ἐν ταῖς αὐλαῖς αὐτῶν τοῦ εἰσπορεύεσθαι κατὰ ἑπτὰ ἡμέρας ἀπὸ καιροῦ εἰς καιρὸν μετὰ τούτων

Their relatives came from their villages at fixed times to serve with them for seven-day periods.

9:26

ὅτι ἐν πίστει εἰσὶν τέσσαρες δυνατοὶ τῶν πυλῶν οἱ Λευῖται ἦσαν ἐπὶ τῶν παστοφορίων καὶ ἐπὶ τῶν θησαυρῶν οἴκου τοῦ θεοῦ

But the four chief gatekeepers, who were Levites, were entrusted with the rooms and the treasuries of the house of God.

9:27

καὶ περικύκλῳ οἴκου τοῦ θεοῦ παρεμβαλοῦσιν ὅτι ἐπ᾿ αὐτοὺς φυλακή καὶ οὗτοι ἐπὶ τῶν κλειδῶν τὸ πρωὶ πρωὶ ἀνοίγειν τὰς θύρας τοῦ ἱεροῦ

They would spend the night stationed around the house of God, because they were responsible for guarding it and opening it every morning.

9:28

καὶ ἐξ αὐτῶν ἐπὶ τὰ σκεύη τῆς λειτουργίας ὅτι ἐν ἀριθμῷ εἰσοίσουσιν αὐτὰ καὶ ἐν ἀριθμῷ ἐξοίσουσιν αὐτά

Some of them were in charge of the articles used in worship, to count them whenever they were brought in or taken out.

9:29

καὶ ἐξ αὐτῶν καθεσταμένοι ἐπὶ τὰ σκεύη καὶ ἐπὶ πάντα τὰ σκεύη τὰ ἅγια καὶ ἐπὶ τῆς σεμιδάλεως τοῦ οἴνου τοῦ ἐλαίου τοῦ λιβανωτοῦ καὶ τῶν ἀρωμάτων

Others were put in charge of the furnishings and other articles of the sanctuary, as well as the fine flour, wine, oil, frankincense, and spices.

9:30

καὶ ἀπὸ τῶν υἱῶν τῶν ἱερέων ἦσαν μυρεψοὶ τοῦ μύρου καὶ εἰς τὰ ἀρώματα

And some of the sons of the priests mixed the spices.

9:31

καὶ Ματταθιας ἐκ τῶν Λευιτῶν οὗτος ὁ πρωτότοκος τῷ Σαλωμ τῷ Κορίτῃ ἐν τῇ πίστει ἐπὶ τὰ ἔργα τῆς θυσίας τοῦ τηγάνου τοῦ μεγάλου ἱερέως

A Levite named Mattithiah, the firstborn son of Shallum the Korahite, was entrusted with baking the bread.

9:32

καὶ Βαναιας ὁ Κααθίτης ἐκ τῶν ἀδελφῶν αὐτῶν ἐπὶ τῶν ἄρτων τῆς προθέσεως τοῦ ἑτοιμάσαι σάββατον κατὰ σάββατον

Some of their Kohathite relatives were responsible for preparing the rows of the showbread every Sabbath.

9:33

καὶ οὗτοι ψαλτῳδοὶ ἄρχοντες τῶν πατριῶν τῶν Λευιτῶν διατεταγμέναι ἐφημερίαι ὅτι ἡμέρα καὶ νὺξ ἐπ᾿ αὐτοῖς ἐν τοῖς ἔργοις

Those who were musicians, the heads of Levite families, stayed in the temple chambers and were exempt from other duties because they were on duty day and night.

9:34

οὗτοι ἄρχοντες τῶν πατριῶν τῶν Λευιτῶν κατὰ γενέσεις αὐτῶν ἄρχοντες οὗτοι κατῴκησαν ἐν Ιερουσαλημ

All these were heads of Levite families, chiefs according to their genealogies, and they lived in Jerusalem.

9:35

καὶ ἐν Γαβαων κατῴκησεν πατὴρ Γαβαων Ιιηλ καὶ ὄνομα γυναικὸς αὐτοῦ Μοωχα

Jeiel of Gibeon lived in Gibeon. His wife’s name was Maacah.

9:36

καὶ υἱὸς αὐτοῦ ὁ πρωτότοκος Αβαδων καὶ Σιρ καὶ Κις καὶ Βααλ καὶ Νηρ καὶ Ναδαβ

Abdon was his firstborn son, then Zur, Kish, Baal, Ner, Nadab,

9:37

καὶ Γεδουρ καὶ ἀδελφὸς καὶ Ζαχαρια καὶ Μακελλωθ

Gedor, Ahio, Zechariah, and Mikloth.

9:38

καὶ Μακελλωθ ἐγέννησεν τὸν Σαμαα καὶ οὗτοι ἐν μέσῳ τῶν ἀδελφῶν αὐτῶν κατῴκησαν ἐν Ιερουσαλημ μετὰ τῶν ἀδελφῶν αὐτῶν

Mikloth was the father of . They too lived alongside their relatives in Jerusalem.

9:39

καὶ Νηρ ἐγέννησεν τὸν Κις καὶ Κις ἐγέννησεν τὸν Σαουλ καὶ Σαουλ ἐγέννησεν τὸν Ιωναθαν καὶ τὸν Μελχισουε καὶ τὸν Αμιναδαβ καὶ τὸν Ισβααλ

Ner was the father of Kish, Kish was the father of Saul, and Saul was the father of Jonathan, Malchishua, Abinadab, and Esh-baal.

9:40

καὶ υἱὸς Ιωναθαν Μαριβααλ καὶ Μαριβααλ ἐγέννησεν τὸν Μιχα

The son of Jonathan: Merib-baal, who was the father of Micah.

9:41

καὶ υἱοὶ Μιχα Φαιθων καὶ Μαλαχ καὶ Θαραχ

The sons of Micah: Pithon, Melech, Tahrea, and Ahaz.

9:42

καὶ Αχαζ ἐγέννησεν τὸν Ιαδα καὶ Ιαδα ἐγέννησεν τὸν Γαλεμεθ καὶ τὸν Γαζμωθ καὶ τὸν Ζαμβρι καὶ Ζαμβρι ἐγέννησεν τὸν Μασα

Ahaz was the father of ; Jarah was the father of Alemeth, Azmaveth, and Zimri; and Zimri was the father of Moza.

9:43

καὶ Μασα ἐγέννησεν τὸν Βαανα Ραφαια υἱὸς αὐτοῦ Ελεασα υἱὸς αὐτοῦ Εσηλ υἱὸς αὐτοῦ

Moza was the father of Binea. was his son, Elasah his son, and Azel his son.

9:44

καὶ τῷ Εσηλ ἓξ υἱοί καὶ ταῦτα τὰ ὀνόματα αὐτῶν Εσδρικαμ πρωτότοκος αὐτοῦ Ισμαηλ καὶ Σαρια καὶ Αβδια καὶ Αναν οὗτοι υἱοὶ Εσηλ

And Azel had six sons, and these were their names: Azrikam, Bocheru, Ishmael, Sheariah, Obadiah, and Hanan. These were the sons of Azel.
