ταῦτα τὰ ὀνόματα τῶν υἱῶν Ισραηλ Ρουβην Συμεων Λευι Ιουδα Ισσαχαρ Ζαβουλων
These were the sons of Israel: Reuben, Simeon, Levi, Judah, Issachar, Zebulun,
υἱοὶ Ιουδα Ηρ Αυναν Σηλων τρεῖς ἐγεννήθησαν αὐτῷ ἐκ τῆς θυγατρὸς Σαυας τῆς Χαναανίτιδος καὶ ἦν Ηρ ὁ πρωτότοκος Ιουδα πονηρὸς ἐναντίον κυρίου καὶ ἀπέκτεινεν αὐτόν
The sons of Judah: Er, Onan, and Shelah. These three were born to him by Bath-shua the Canaanite. Er, Judah’s firstborn, was wicked in the sight of the LORD. So the LORD put him to death.
καὶ Θαμαρ ἡ νύμφη αὐτοῦ ἔτεκεν αὐτῷ τὸν Φαρες καὶ τὸν Ζαρα πάντες υἱοὶ Ιουδα πέντε
Tamar, Judah’s daughter-in-law, bore to him Perez and Zerah. Judah had five sons in all.
καὶ υἱοὶ Ζαρα Ζαμβρι καὶ Αιθαν καὶ Αιμαν καὶ Χαλχαλ καὶ Δαρα πάντες πέντε
The sons of Zerah: Zimri (note: Zimri is a variant of Zabdi; see Joshua 7:1.), Ethan, Heman, Calcol, and Dara (note: Most Hebrew manuscripts; many Hebrew manuscripts, some LXX manuscripts, and Syriac (see also 1 Kings 4:31) Darda)—five in all.
καὶ υἱοὶ Χαρμι Αχαρ ὁ ἐμποδοστάτης Ισραηλ ὃς ἠθέτησεν εἰς τὸ ἀνάθεμα
The son (note: Hebrew sons) of Carmi: Achar (note: Achar means troubler; also called Achan in Joshua 7 and Joshua 22.), who brought trouble upon Israel by violating the ban on devoted things.
καὶ υἱοὶ Εσερων οἳ ἐτέχθησαν αὐτῷ ὁ Ιραμεηλ καὶ ὁ Ραμ καὶ ὁ Χαλεβ καὶ Αραμ
The sons who were born to Hezron: Jerahmeel, Ram, and Caleb (note: Hebrew Chelubai, a variant of Caleb; see verse 18.).
καὶ Αραμ ἐγέννησεν τὸν Αμιναδαβ καὶ Αμιναδαβ ἐγέννησεν τὸν Ναασσων ἄρχοντα τοῦ οἴκου Ιουδα
Ram was the father of Amminadab, and Amminadab was the father of Nahshon, a leader of the descendants of Judah.
καὶ Ναασσων ἐγέννησεν τὸν Σαλμων καὶ Σαλμων ἐγέννησεν τὸν Βοος
Nahshon was the father of Salmon (note: LXX (see also Ruth 4:20–21); Hebrew Salma; twice in this verse), and Salmon was the father of Boaz.
καὶ Βοος ἐγέννησεν τὸν Ωβηδ καὶ Ωβηδ ἐγέννησεν τὸν Ιεσσαι
Boaz was the father of Obed, and Obed was the father of Jesse.
καὶ Ιεσσαι ἐγέννησεν τὸν πρωτότοκον αὐτοῦ Ελιαβ Αμιναδαβ ὁ δεύτερος Σαμαα ὁ τρίτος
Jesse was the father of Eliab his firstborn; Abinadab was born second, Shimea (note: Shimea is a variant of Shammah, Shimeah, and Shimei; see 1 Samuel 16:9, 2 Samuel 13:3, and 2 Samuel 21:21.) third,
καὶ ἀδελφὴ αὐτῶν Σαρουια καὶ Αβιγαια καὶ υἱοὶ Σαρουια Αβεσσα καὶ Ιωαβ καὶ Ασαηλ τρεῖς
Their sisters were Zeruiah and Abigail. And the three sons of Zeruiah were Abishai, Joab, and Asahel.
καὶ Αβιγαια ἐγέννησεν τὸν Αμεσσα καὶ πατὴρ Αμεσσα Ιοθορ ὁ Ισμαηλίτης
Abigail was the mother of Amasa, whose father was Jether (note: Jether is a variant of Ithra; see 2 Samuel 17:25.) the Ishmaelite.
καὶ Χαλεβ υἱὸς Εσερων ἐγέννησεν τὴν Γαζουβα γυναῖκα καὶ τὴν Ιεριωθ καὶ οὗτοι υἱοὶ αὐτῆς Ιωασαρ καὶ Σωβαβ καὶ Ορνα
Caleb son of Hezron had children by his wife Azubah and by Jerioth. These were the sons of Azubah: Jesher, Shobab, and Ardon.
καὶ ἀπέθανεν Γαζουβα καὶ ἔλαβεν ἑαυτῷ Χαλεβ τὴν Εφραθ καὶ ἔτεκεν αὐτῷ τὸν Ωρ
When Azubah died, Caleb married Ephrath (note: Ephrath is a variant of Ephrathah; see verse 50.), who bore to him Hur.
καὶ Ωρ ἐγέννησεν τὸν Ουρι καὶ Ουρι ἐγέννησεν τὸν Βεσελεηλ
Hur was the father of Uri, and Uri was the father of Bezalel.
καὶ μετὰ ταῦτα εἰσῆλθεν Εσερων πρὸς τὴν θυγατέρα Μαχιρ πατρὸς Γαλααδ καὶ οὗτος ἔλαβεν αὐτήν καὶ αὐτὸς ἑξήκοντα ἦν ἐτῶν καὶ ἔτεκεν αὐτῷ τὸν Σεγουβ
Later, Hezron slept with the daughter of Machir the father of Gilead. He had married her when he was sixty years old, and she bore to him Segub.
καὶ Σεγουβ ἐγέννησεν τὸν Ιαϊρ καὶ ἦσαν αὐτῷ εἴκοσι τρεῖς πόλεις ἐν τῇ Γαλααδ
Segub was the father of Jair, who had twenty-three cities in the land of Gilead.
καὶ ἔλαβεν Γεδσουρ καὶ Αραμ τὰς κώμας Ιαϊρ ἐξ αὐτῶν τὴν Καναθ καὶ τὰς κώμας αὐτῆς ἑξήκοντα πόλεις πᾶσαι αὗται υἱῶν Μαχιρ πατρὸς Γαλααδ
But Geshur and Aram captured Havvoth- (note: Or the villages of Jair)jair, along with Kenath and its sixty surrounding villages. All these were descendants of Machir the father of Gilead.
καὶ μετὰ τὸ ἀποθανεῖν Εσερων ἦλθεν Χαλεβ εἰς Εφραθα καὶ ἡ γυνὴ Εσερων Αβια καὶ ἔτεκεν αὐτῷ τὸν Ασχωδ πατέρα Θεκωε
After Hezron died in Caleb-ephrathah, his wife Abijah bore (note: Or After Hezron died, Caleb had relations with Ephrathah, the wife of Hezron his father, and she bore; see also LXX.) to him Ashhur the father (note: Or the founder; also in verses 42, 45, 49, and possibly elsewhere) of Tekoa.
καὶ ἦσαν υἱοὶ Ιερεμεηλ πρωτοτόκου Εσερων ὁ πρωτότοκος Ραμ καὶ Βαανα καὶ Αραν καὶ Ασομ ἀδελφὸς αὐτοῦ
The sons of Jerahmeel the firstborn of Hezron: Ram his firstborn, Bunah, Oren, Ozem, and Ahijah.
καὶ ἦν γυνὴ ἑτέρα τῷ Ιερεμεηλ καὶ ὄνομα αὐτῇ Αταρα αὕτη ἐστὶν μήτηρ Οζομ
Jerahmeel had another wife named Atarah, who was the mother of Onam.
καὶ ἦσαν υἱοὶ Ραμ πρωτοτόκου Ιερεμεηλ Μαας καὶ Ιαμιν καὶ Ακορ
The sons of Ram the firstborn of Jerahmeel: Maaz, Jamin, and Eker.
καὶ ἦσαν υἱοὶ Οζομ Σαμαι καὶ Ιαδαε καὶ υἱοὶ Σαμαι Ναδαβ καὶ Αβισουρ
The sons of Onam: Shammai and Jada. The sons of Shammai: Nadab and Abishur.
καὶ ὄνομα τῆς γυναικὸς Αβισουρ Αβιχαιλ καὶ ἔτεκεν αὐτῷ τὸν Αχαβαρ καὶ τὸν Μωλιδ
Abishur’s wife was named Abihail, and she bore to him Ahban and Molid.
υἱοὶ Ναδαβ Σαλαδ καὶ Αφφαιμ καὶ ἀπέθανεν Σαλαδ οὐκ ἔχων τέκνα
The sons of Nadab: Seled and Appaim. Seled died without children.
καὶ υἱοὶ Αφφαιμ Ισεμιηλ καὶ υἱοὶ Ισεμιηλ Σωσαν καὶ υἱοὶ Σωσαν Αχλαι
The son (note: Hebrew sons; three times in this verse) of Appaim: Ishi. The son of Ishi: Sheshan. The son of Sheshan: Ahlai.
καὶ υἱοὶ Ιαδαε Αχισαμαι Ιεθερ Ιωναθαν καὶ ἀπέθανεν Ιεθερ οὐκ ἔχων τέκνα
The sons of Jada the brother of Shammai: Jether and Jonathan. Jether died without children.
καὶ υἱοὶ Ιωναθαν Φαλεθ καὶ Οζαζα οὗτοι ἦσαν υἱοὶ Ιερεμεηλ
The sons of Jonathan: Peleth and Zaza. These were the descendants of Jerahmeel.
καὶ οὐκ ἦσαν τῷ Σωσαν υἱοί ἀλλ᾿ ἢ θυγατέρες καὶ τῷ Σωσαν παῖς Αἰγύπτιος καὶ ὄνομα αὐτῷ Ιωχηλ
Sheshan had no sons, but only daughters. He also had an Egyptian servant named Jarha.
καὶ ἔδωκεν Σωσαν τὴν θυγατέρα αὐτοῦ τῷ Ιωχηλ παιδὶ αὐτοῦ εἰς γυναῖκα καὶ ἔτεκεν αὐτῷ τὸν Εθθι
Sheshan gave his daughter in marriage to his servant Jarha, and she bore to him Attai.
καὶ Εθθι ἐγέννησεν τὸν Ναθαν καὶ Ναθαν ἐγέννησεν τὸν Ζαβεδ
Attai was the father of Nathan, Nathan was the father of Zabad,
καὶ Ζαβεδ ἐγέννησεν τὸν Αφαληλ καὶ Αφαληλ ἐγέννησεν τὸν Ωβηδ
Zabad was the father of Ephlal, Ephlal was the father of Obed,
καὶ Ωβηδ ἐγέννησεν τὸν Ιηου καὶ Ιηου ἐγέννησεν τὸν Αζαριαν
Obed was the father of Jehu, Jehu was the father of Azariah,
καὶ Αζαριας ἐγέννησεν τὸν Χελλης καὶ Χελλης ἐγέννησεν τὸν Ελεασα
Azariah was the father of Helez, Helez was the father of Elasah,
καὶ Ελεασα ἐγέννησεν τὸν Σοσομαι καὶ Σοσομαι ἐγέννησεν τὸν Σαλουμ
Elasah was the father of Sismai, Sismai was the father of Shallum,
καὶ Σαλουμ ἐγέννησεν τὸν Ιεχεμιαν καὶ Ιεχεμιας ἐγέννησεν τὸν Ελισαμα
Shallum was the father of Jekamiah, and Jekamiah was the father of Elishama.
καὶ υἱοὶ Χαλεβ ἀδελφοῦ Ιερεμεηλ Μαρισα ὁ πρωτότοκος αὐτοῦ οὗτος πατὴρ Ζιφ καὶ υἱοὶ Μαρισα πατρὸς Χεβρων
The sons of Caleb the brother of Jerahmeel: Mesha (note: Hebrew; LXX Mareshah) his firstborn, who was the father of Ziph, and Mareshah his second son, who was the father of Hebron.
καὶ υἱοὶ Χεβρων Κορε καὶ Θαπους καὶ Ρεκομ καὶ Σεμαα
The sons of Hebron: Korah, Tappuah, Rekem, and Shema.
καὶ Σεμαα ἐγέννησεν τὸν Ραεμ πατέρα Ιερκααν καὶ Ιερκααν ἐγέννησεν τὸν Σαμαι
Shema was the father of Raham the father of Jorkeam, and Rekem was the father of Shammai.
καὶ υἱὸς αὐτοῦ Μαων καὶ Μαων πατὴρ Βαιθσουρ
The son of Shammai was Maon, and Maon was the father of Beth-zur.
καὶ Γαιφα ἡ παλλακὴ Χαλεβ ἐγέννησεν τὸν Αρραν καὶ τὸν Μωσα καὶ τὸν Γεζουε καὶ Αρραν ἐγέννησεν τὸν Γεζουε
Caleb’s concubine Ephah was the mother of Haran, Moza, and Gazez. Haran was the father of Gazez.
καὶ υἱοὶ Ιαδαι Ραγεμ καὶ Ιωαθαμ καὶ Γηρσωμ καὶ Φαλετ καὶ Γαιφα καὶ Σαγαφ
The sons of Jahdai: Regem, Jotham, Geshan, Pelet, Ephah, and Shaaph.
καὶ ἡ παλλακὴ Χαλεβ Μωχα ἐγέννησεν τὸν Σαβερ καὶ τὸν Θαρχνα
Caleb’s concubine Maacah was the mother of Sheber and Tirhanah.
καὶ ἐγέννησεν Σαγαφ πατέρα Μαρμηνα καὶ τὸν Σαου πατέρα Μαχαβηνα καὶ πατέρα Γαιβαα καὶ θυγάτηρ Χαλεβ Ασχα
She was also the mother of Shaaph father of Madmannah, and of Sheva father of Machbenah and Gibea. Caleb’s daughter was Acsah.
οὗτοι ἦσαν υἱοὶ Χαλεβ υἱοὶ Ωρ πρωτοτόκου Εφραθα Σωβαλ πατὴρ Καριαθιαριμ
These were the descendants of Caleb. The sons (note: LXX and Vulgate; Hebrew son) of Hur the firstborn of Ephrathah (note: Ephrathah is a variant of Ephrath; see verse 19.): Shobal the father of Kiriath-jearim,
Σαλωμων πατὴρ Βαιθλαεμ Αριμ πατὴρ Βαιθγεδωρ
Salma the father of Bethlehem, and Hareph the father of Beth-gader.
καὶ ἦσαν υἱοὶ τῷ Σωβαλ πατρὶ Καριαθιαριμ Αραα Εσι Αμμανιθ
These were the descendants of Shobal the father of Kiriath-jearim: Haroeh, half the Manahathites,
Εμοσφεως πόλις Ιαϊρ Αιθαλιμ καὶ Μιφιθιμ καὶ Ησαμαθιμ καὶ Ημασαραϊμ ἐκ τούτων ἐξήλθοσαν οἱ Σαραθαῖοι καὶ οἱ Εσθαωλαῖοι
and the clans of Kiriath-jearim—the Ithrites, Puthites, Shumathites, and Mishraites. From these descended the Zorathites and Eshtaolites.
υἱοὶ Σαλωμων Βαιθλαεμ Νετωφαθι Αταρωθ οἴκου Ιωαβ καὶ ἥμισυ τῆς Μαναθι Ησαρεϊ
The descendants of Salma: Bethlehem, the Netophathites, Atroth-beth-joab, half the Manahathites, the Zorites,
πατριαὶ γραμματέων κατοικοῦντες Ιαβες Θαργαθιιμ Σαμαθιιμ Σωκαθιιμ οὗτοι οἱ Κιναῖοι οἱ ἐλθόντες ἐκ Μεσημα πατρὸς οἴκου Ρηχαβ
and the clans of the scribes (note: Or of the Sopherites) who lived at Jabez—the Tirathites, Shimeathites, and Sucathites. These are the Kenites who came from Hammath, the father of the house of Rechab (note: Or the father of Beth-rekab or the founder of the house of Rechab).
