Lorsque David fut établi dans sa maison, David dit à Nathan le prophète : " Voici que j'habite dans une maison de cèdre, et l'arche de l'alliance de Yahweh est sous la tente ! "
After David had settled into his palace, he said to Nathan the prophet, “Here I am, living in a house of cedar, while the ark of the covenant of the LORD is under a tent.”
Nathan répondit à David : " Fais ce que tu as dans le cœur, car Dieu est avec toi. "
And Nathan replied to David, “Do all that is in your heart, for God is with you.”
Cette nuit-là, la parole de Dieu fut adressée à Nathan en ces termes :
But that night the word of God came to Nathan, saying,
" Va dire à David, mon serviteur : Ainsi parle Yahweh : Ce n'est pas toi qui me bâtiras une maison pour que j'y habite.
“Go and tell My servant David that this is what the LORD says: You are not the one to build Me a house in which to dwell.
Car je n'ai point habité dans une maison, depuis le jour où j'ai fait monter Israël d'Egypte jusqu'à ce jour ; mais j'ai été de tente en tente et de demeure en demeure.
For I have not dwelt in a house from the day I brought Israel up out of Egypt until this day, but I have moved from tent to tent and dwelling to dwelling.
Pendant tout le temps que j'ai voyagé avec tout Israël, ai-je dit un mot à l'un des juges d'Israël à qui j'ai ordonné de paître mon peuple, en disant : Pourquoi ne me bâtissez-vous pas une maison de cèdre ?
In all My journeys with all the Israelites, have I ever asked any of the leaders I appointed to shepherd My people, ‘Why haven’t you built Me a house of cedar?’
Maintenant, tu diras à mon serviteur, à David : Ainsi parle Yahweh des armées : Je t'ai pris au pâturage, derrière les brebis, pour être prince sur mon peuple d'Israël ;
Now then, you are to tell My servant David that this is what the LORD of Hosts says: I took you from the pasture, from following the flock, to be the ruler over My people Israel.
j'ai été avec toi partout où tu allais, j'ai exterminé tous tes ennemis devant toi, et je t'ai fait un nom comme le nom des grands qui sont sur la terre.
I have been with you wherever you have gone, and I have cut off all your enemies from before you. Now I will make for you a name like that of the greatest in the land.
J'ai assigné un lieu à mon peuple d'Israël, et je l'ai planté, et il habite chez lui, et il ne sera plus troublé, et les fils d'iniquité ne l'opprimeront plus, comme autrefois
And I will provide a place for My people Israel and will plant them so that they may dwell in a place of their own and be disturbed no more. No longer will the sons of wickedness oppress them as they did at the beginning
et comme au jour où j'avais établi des juges sur mon peuple d'Israël. J'ai humilié tous tes ennemis. Et je t'annonce que Yahweh te bâtira une maison.
and have done since the day I appointed judges over My people Israel. And I will subdue all your enemies. Moreover, I declare to you that the LORD will build a house for you.
Quand tes jours seront accomplis et que tu iras avec tes pères, j'élèverai ta postérité après toi, l'un de tes fils, et j'affermirai son règne.
And when your days are fulfilled and you go to be with your fathers, I will raise up your descendant after you, one of your own sons, and I will establish his kingdom.
C'est lui qui me bâtira une maison, et j'affermirai son trône pour toujours.
He will build a house for Me, and I will establish his throne forever.
Je serai pour lui un père, et il sera pour moi un fils ; et je ne lui retirerai point ma grâce, comme je l'ai retirée à celui qui a régné avant toi.
I will be his Father, and he will be My son. And I will never remove My loving devotion from him as I removed it from your predecessor.
Je l'établirai pour toujours dans ma maison et dans mon royaume, et son trône sera affermi pour toujours. "
But I will set him over My house and My kingdom forever, and his throne will be established forever.”
Nathan parla à David selon toutes ces paroles et toute cette vision.
So Nathan relayed to David all the words of this entire revelation.
Et le roi David vint et demeura devant Yahweh ; et il dit : " Qui suis-je, Yahweh Dieu, et quelle est ma maison pour que vous m'ayez fait arriver jusque-là ?
Then King David went in, sat before the LORD, and said, “Who am I, O LORD God, and what is my house, that You have brought me this far?
Et c'est encore peu de chose à vos yeux, ô Dieu ! Vous avez parlé de la maison de votre serviteur pour les temps lointains, et vous m'avez regardé comme un homme de haut rang, ô Yahweh Dieu.
And as if this was a small thing in Your eyes, O God, You have spoken about the future of the house of Your servant and have regarded me as a man of great distinction (note: Or and have shown me future generations), O LORD God.
Que pourrait vous dire de plus David sur l'honneur accordé à votre serviteur ? Vous connaissez votre serviteur.
What more can David say to You for honoring Your servant? For You know Your servant,
Yahweh, c'est à cause de votre serviteur et selon votre cœur, que vous avez fait toute cette grande chose, pour faire connaître toutes ces grandes choses.
O LORD (note: See 2 Samuel 7:20; many translators 18...For You know Your servant. 19O LORD,). For the sake of Your servant and according to Your own heart, You have accomplished this great thing and made known all these great promises.

O LORD, there is none like You, and there is no God but You, according to everything we have heard with our own ears.

And who is like Your people Israel—the one nation on earth whom God went out to redeem as a people for Himself? You made a name for Yourself through great and awesome wonders by driving out nations from before Your people, whom You redeemed from Egypt.
Vous avez fait de votre peuple d'Israël votre peuple à jamais, et vous, Yahweh, vous êtes devenu son Dieu.
For You have made Your people Israel Your very own forever, and You, O LORD, have become their God.
Maintenant, Yahweh, que la parole que vous avez dite au sujet de votre serviteur et au sujet de sa maison subsiste à jamais, et agissez selon votre parole !
And now, O LORD, let the word You have spoken concerning Your servant and his house be established forever. Do as You have promised,
Qu'elle subsiste, et que votre nom soit glorifié à jamais, et que l'on dise : Yahweh des armées, le Dieu d'Israël, est Dieu pour Israël ! Et que la maison de David, votre serviteur, soit affermie devant vous !
so that Your name will be established and magnified forever when it is said, ‘The LORD of Hosts, the God of Israel, is God over Israel.’ And may the house of Your servant David be established before You.
Car vous-même, ô mon Dieu, vous avez révélé à votre serviteur que vous lui bâtiriez une maison ; c'est pourquoi votre serviteur a osé prier devant vous.
For You, my God, have revealed to Your servant that You will build a house for him. Therefore Your servant has found the courage to pray before You.
Maintenant, Yahweh, c'est vous qui êtes Dieu, et vous avez dit à votre serviteur cette parole agréable.
And now, O LORD, You are God! And You have promised this goodness to Your servant.

So now You have been pleased to bless the house of Your servant, that it may continue forever before You. For You, O LORD, have blessed it, and it will be blessed forever.”
