Then David conferred with all his leaders, the commanders of thousands and of hundreds.
Et David dit à toute l'assemblée d'Israël : " Si vous le trouvez bon et si cela paraît venir de Yahweh, notre Dieu, envoyons au plus vite vers le reste de nos frères, dans toutes les contrées d'Israël, et aussi vers les prêtres et les lévites dans les villes où sont leurs pâturages, afin qu'ils se réunissent à nous,
And he said to the whole assembly of Israel, “If it seems good to you, and if this is of the LORD our God, let us send word far and wide to the rest of our brothers in all the land of Israel, and also to the priests and Levites in their cities and pasturelands, so that they may join us.
et que nous ramenions auprès de nous l'arche de notre Dieu, car nous ne nous en sommes pas occupés dans les jours de Saül. "
Then let us bring back the ark of our God, for we did not inquire of Him (note: Or of it) in the days of Saul.”
Toute l'assemblée dit de faire ainsi, la chose ayant paru convenable aux yeux de tout le peuple.
And because this proposal seemed right to all the people, the whole assembly agreed to it.
David assembla donc tout Israël, depuis le Sihor d'Egypte jusqu'à l'entrée d'Emath, pour faire venir de Cariathiarim l'arche de Dieu.
So David assembled all Israel, from the River Shihor in Egypt to Lebo-hamath, to bring the ark of God from Kiriath-jearim.
Et David, avec tout Israël, monta à Baala, à Cariathiarim, qui est à Juda, pour faire monter de là l'arche de Dieu, de Yahweh qui siège sur les Chérubins, sur laquelle le Nom est invoqué.
David and all Israel went up to Baalah of Judah (that is, Kiriath-jearim) to bring up from there the ark of God the LORD, who is enthroned between the cherubim—the ark that is called by the Name (note: Or the ark of God, which is called by the Name of the LORD who is enthroned between the cherubim; or the ark of God, the LORD, who is enthroned between the cherubim, where His Name is called).
Ils placèrent sur un chariot neuf l'arche de Dieu, et l'emmenèrent de la maison d'Abinadab : Oza et Ahio conduisaient le chariot.
So they carried the ark of God from the house of Abinadab on a new cart, with Uzzah and Ahio guiding the cart.
David et tout Israël dansaient devant Dieu de toute leur force, en chantant, et en jouant des harpes, des luths, des tambourins, des cymbales et des trompettes.
David and all the Israelites were celebrating before God with all their might, with songs and on harps and lyres, with tambourines, cymbals, and trumpets.
Lorsqu'ils furent arrivés à l'aire de Chidon, Oza étendit la main pour saisir l'arche, parce que les bœufs avaient fait un faux pas.
When they came to the threshing floor of Chidon (note: Chidon is a variant of Nacon; see 2 Samuel 6:6.), Uzzah reached out and took hold of the ark, because the oxen had stumbled.
La colère de Yahweh s'enflamma contre Oza, et Yahweh le frappa, parce qu'il avait étendu la main sur l'arche ; et Oza mourut là, devant Dieu.
And the anger of the LORD burned against Uzzah, and He struck him down because he had put his hand on the ark. So he died there before God.
David fut fâché de ce que Yahweh avait ainsi porté un coup à Oza ; et ce lieu a été appelé jusqu'à ce jour Phéréts-Oza.
Then David became angry because the LORD had burst forth against Uzzah. So he named that place Perez-uzzah (note: Perez-uzzah means outbreak against Uzzah.), as it is called to this day.
David eut peur de Dieu en ce jour-là, et il dit : " Comment ferais-je venir vers moi l'arche de Dieu ? "
That day David feared God and asked, “How can I ever bring the ark of God to me?”
David ne retira pas l'arche chez lui, dans la cité de David, et il la fit conduire dans la maison d'Obédédom de Geth.
So he did not move the ark with him to the City of David; instead, he took it aside to the house of Obed-edom the Gittite.
L'arche de Dieu resta trois mois avec la famille d'Obédédom, dans sa maison ; et Yahweh bénit la maison d'Obédédom et tout ce qui lui appartenait.
Thus the ark of God remained with the family of Obed-edom in his house for three months, and the LORD blessed his household and everything he owned.
