8:1

For the choirmaster. According to . A Psalm of David. O LORD, our Lord, how majestic is Your name in all the earth! You have set Your glory above the heavens.

8:2

Yahweh, notre Seigneur, que ton nom est glorieux sur toute la terre ! Toi qui as revêtu les cieux de ta majesté !

From the mouths of children and infants You have ordained on account of Your adversaries, to silence the enemy and avenger.

8:3

Par la bouche des enfants et de ceux qui sont à la mamelle tu t'es fondé une force pour confondre tes ennemis, pour imposer silence à l'adversaire et au blasphémateur.

When I behold Your heavens, the work of Your fingers, the moon and the stars, which You have set in place—

8:4

Quand je contemple tes cieux, ouvrage de tes doigts, la lune et les étoiles que tu as créées, je m'écrie :

what is man that You are mindful of him, or the son of man that You care for him?

8:5

Qu'est-ce que l'homme, pour que tu te souviennes de lui, et le fils de l'homme, pour que tu en prennes soin ?

You made him a little lower ; You crowned him with glory and honor.

8:6

Tu l'as fait de peu inférieur à Dieu, tu l'as couronné de gloire et d'honneur.

You made him ruler of the works of Your hands; You have placed everything under :

Tu lui as donné l'empire sur les œuvres de tes mains ; tu as mis toutes choses sous ses pieds :

all sheep and oxen, and even the beasts of the field,

8:8

Brebis et bœufs, tous ensemble, et les animaux des champs ;

the birds of the air and the fish of the sea, all that swim the paths of the seas.

8:9

oiseaux du ciel et poissons de la mer, et tout ce qui parcourt les sentiers des mers.

O LORD, our Lord, how majestic is Your name in all the earth!
