Cantique d'Asaph. Dieu se tient dans l'assemblée du Tout-Puissant ; au milieu des dieux il rend son arrêt :
A Psalm of Asaph. God presides in the divine assembly; He renders judgment among the gods:
" Jusques à quand jugerez-vous injustement, et prendrez-vous parti pour les méchants ? — Séla.
“How long will you judge unjustly (note: Or How long will you defend the unjust) and show partiality to the wicked? Selah
" Rendez justice au faible et à l'orphelin, faites droit au malheureux et au pauvre,
Defend the cause of the weak and fatherless; uphold the rights of the afflicted and oppressed.
sauvez le misérable et l'indigent, délivrez-les de la main des méchants.
Rescue the weak and needy; save them from the hand of the wicked.
" Ils n'ont ni savoir ni intelligence, ils marchent dans les ténèbres ; tous les fondements de la terre sont ébranlés.
They do not know or understand; they wander in the darkness; all the foundations of the earth are shaken.
" J'ai dit : Vous êtes des dieux, vous êtes tous les fils du Très-Haut.
I have said, ‘You are gods; you are all sons of the Most High (note: Cited in John 10:34).’
Cependant, vous mourrez comme des hommes, vous tomberez comme le premier venu des princes. "
But like mortals you will die, and like rulers you will fall.”
Lève-toi, ô Dieu, juge la terre, car toutes les nations t'appartiennent.
Arise, O God, judge the earth, for all the nations are Your inheritance.
