Psalms 81 — parallel

81:1

A Psalm for Asaph. God stands in the assembly of gods; and in the midst [of them] will judge gods.

^82:1 A Psalm of Asaph. God presides in the divine assembly; He renders judgment among the gods:

81:2

How long will ye judge unrighteously, and accept the persons of sinners? Pause.

^82:2 “How long will you judge and show partiality to the wicked? Selah

81:3

Judge the orphan and poor: do justice to the low and needy.

^82:3 Defend the cause of the weak and fatherless; uphold the rights of the afflicted and oppressed.

81:4

Rescue the needy, and deliver the poor out of the hand of the sinner.

^82:4 Rescue the weak and needy; save them from the hand of the wicked.

81:5

They know not, nor understand; they walk on in darkness: all the foundations of the earth shall be shaken.

^82:5 They do not know or understand; they wander in the darkness; all the foundations of the earth are shaken.

81:6

I have said, Ye are gods; and all [of you] children of the Most High.

^82:6 I have said, ‘You are gods; you are all sons .’

81:7

But ye die as men, and fall as one of the princes.

^82:7 But like mortals you will die, and like rulers you will fall.”

81:8

Arise, O God, judge the earth: for thou shalt inherit all nations.

^82:8 Arise, O God, judge the earth, for all the nations are Your inheritance.
