62:1

A Psalm of David, when he was in the wilderness of Idumea.

For the choirmaster. According to Jeduthun. A Psalm of David. In God alone my soul finds rest; my salvation comes from Him.

62:2

O God, my God, I cry to thee early; my soul has thirsted for thee: how often has my flesh [longed] after thee, in a barren and trackless and dry land!

^63:1 A Psalm of David, when he was in the Wilderness of Judah. O God, You are my God. Earnestly I seek You; my soul thirsts for You. My body yearns for You in a dry and weary land without water.

62:3

Thus have I appeared before thee in the sanctuary, that I might see thy power and thy glory.

^63:2 So I have seen You in the sanctuary and beheld Your power and glory.

62:4

For thy mercy is better than life: my lips shall praise thee.

^63:3 Because Your loving devotion is better than life, my lips will glorify You.

62:5

Thus will I bless thee during my life: I will lift up my hands in thy name.

^63:4 So I will bless You as long as I live; in Your name I will lift my hands.

62:6

Let my soul be filled as with marrow and fatness; and [my] joyful lips shall praise thy name.

^63:5 My soul is satisfied as with the richest of foods; with joyful lips my mouth will praise You.

62:7

Forasmuch as I have remembered thee on my bed: in the early seasons I have meditated on thee.

^63:6 When I remember You on my bed, I think of You through the watches of the night.

62:8

For thou hast been my helper, and in the shelter of thy wings will I rejoice.

^63:7 For You are my help; I will sing for joy in the shadow of Your wings.

62:9

My soul has kept very close behind thee: thy right hand has upheld me.

^63:8 My soul clings to You; Your right hand upholds me.

62:10

But they vainly sought after my soul; they shall go into the lowest parts of the earth.

^63:9 But those who seek my life to destroy it will go into the depths of the earth.

62:11

They shall be delivered up to the power of the sword; they shall be portions for foxes.

^63:10 They will fall to the power of the sword; they will become a portion for foxes.

62:12

But the king shall rejoice in God; every one that swears by him shall be praised; for the mouth of them that speak unjust things has been stopped.

^63:11 But the king will rejoice in God; all who swear by Him will exult, for the mouths of liars will be shut.
