For the Leader; [a Psalm] of the sons of Korah; upon Alamoth. A Song.
For the choirmaster. Of the sons of Korah. According to Alamoth (note: Alamoth is probably a musical or liturgical term; here and in 1 Chronicles 15:20.). A song. God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in times of trouble.
Therefore will we not fear, though the earth do change, And though the mountains be moved into the heart of the seas;
46:2
Therefore we will not fear, though the earth is transformed and the mountains are toppled into the depths of the seas,
Though the waters thereof roar and foam, Though the mountains shake at the swelling thereof. Selah
46:3
though their waters roar and foam and the mountains quake in the surge. Selah
There is a river, the streams whereof make glad the city of God, The holiest dwelling-place of the Most High.
46:4
There is a river whose streams delight the city of God, the holy place where the Most High dwells.
God is in the midst of her, she shall not be moved; God shall help her, at the approach of morning.
46:5
God is within her; she will not be moved. God will help her when morning dawns.
Nations were in tumult, kingdoms were moved; He uttered His voice, the earth melted.
46:6
Nations rage, kingdoms crumble; the earth melts when He lifts His voice.
The LORD of hosts is with us; The God of Jacob is our high tower. Selah
46:7
The LORD of Hosts is with us; the God of Jacob is our fortress. Selah
Come, behold the works of the LORD, Who hath made desolations in the earth.
46:8
Come, see the works of the LORD, who brings devastation upon the earth.
He maketh wars to cease unto the end of the earth; He breaketh the bow, and cutteth the spear in sunder; He burneth the chariots in the fire.
46:9
He makes wars to cease throughout the earth; He breaks the bow and shatters the spear; He burns the shields (note: Or chariots) in the fire.
'Let be, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth.'
46:10
“Be still and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted over the earth.”
The LORD of hosts is with us; The God of Jacob is our high tower. Selah
