For the choirmaster. To the tune of “The Lilies.” A Maskil (note: Maskil is probably a musical or liturgical term; used for Psalms 32, 42, 44–45, 52–55, 74, 78, 88–89, and 142.) of the sons of Korah. A love song. My heart is stirred by a noble theme as I recite my verses to the king (note: Or King; here and throughout Psalm 45); my tongue is the pen of a skillful writer.
De mon cœur jaillit un beau chant ; je dis : " Mon œuvre est pour un roi ! " Ma langue est comme le roseau rapide du scribe,
You are the most handsome of men; grace has anointed your lips; therefore God has blessed you forever.
Tu es le plus beau des fils de l'homme, la grâce est répandue sur tes lèvres ; c'est pourquoi Dieu t'a béni pour toujours.
Strap your sword at your side, O mighty warrior; appear in your majesty and splendor.
Ceins ton épée sur ta cuisse, ô héros, revêts ta splendeur et ta majesté.
In your splendor ride forth in victory on behalf of truth and humility and justice; may your right hand show your awesome deeds.
Et dans ta majesté avance-toi, monte sur ton char, combats pour la vérité, la douceur et la justice ; et que ta droite te fasse accomplir des faits merveilleux.
Your arrows pierce the hearts of the king’s foes; the nations fall beneath your feet.
Tes flèches sont aiguës ; des peuples tomberont à tes pieds ; elles perceront le cœur des ennemis du roi.
Your throne, O God, endures forever and ever, and justice is the scepter of Your kingdom.
Ton trône, ô Dieu, est établi pour toujours ; le sceptre de ta royauté est un sceptre de droiture.
You have loved righteousness and hated wickedness; therefore God, your God, has anointed you above your companions with the oil of joy (note: Cited in Hebrews 1:8–9).
Tu aimes la justice et tu hais l'iniquité : c'est pourquoi Dieu, ton Dieu, t'a oint d'une huile d'allégresse, de préférence à tes compagnons.
All your garments are fragrant with myrrh and aloes and cassia; from palaces of ivory the harps make you glad.
La myrrhe, l'aloès et la casse s'exhalent de tous tes vêtements ; des palais d'ivoire, les lyres te réjouissent.
The daughters of kings are among your honored women; the queen stands at your right hand, adorned with the gold of Ophir.
Des filles de rois sont parmi tes bien-aimées ; la reine est à ta droite, parée de l'or d'Ophir.
Listen, O daughter! Consider and incline your ear: Forget your people and your father’s house,
" Ecoute, ma fille, regarde et prête l'oreille : oublie ton peuple et la maison de ton père,
and the king will desire your beauty; bow to him, for he is your lord.
et le roi sera épris de ta beauté ; car il est ton Seigneur : rends-lui tes hommages.
The Daughter of Tyre will come with a gift; men of wealth will seek your favor.
La fille de Tyr, avec des présents, et les plus riches du peuple rechercheront ta faveur. "
All glorious is the princess in her chamber; her gown is embroidered with gold.
Toute resplendissante est la fille du roi dans l'intérieur ; son vêtement est fait de tissus d'or.
In colorful garments she is led to the king; her virgin companions are brought before you.
En robe de couleurs variées, elle est présentée au roi ; après elles, des jeunes filles ses compagnes, te sont amenées.
They are led in with joy and gladness; they enter the palace of the king.

Your sons will succeed your fathers; you will make them princes throughout the land.
