Τῷ Δαυείδ, ὁπότε ήλλοίωσεν τὸ πρόσωπον αὐτοῦ ἐναντίον Ἀβειμέλεχ, καὶ ἀπέλυσεν αὐτόν, καὶ ἀπῆλθεν.
34:1
Of David, when he pretended to be insane before Abimelech (note: Abimelech is another name for Achish; see 1 Samuel 21–29 and 1 Kings 2:39.), so that the king drove him away (note: This psalm is an acrostic poem, each verse beginning with the successive letters of the Hebrew alphabet.). I will bless the LORD at all times; His praise will always be on my lips.
ἐν τῷ κυρίῳ ἐπαινεσθήσεται ἡ ψυχὴ μου· ἀκουσάτωσαν πρᾳεῖς καὶ εὐφρανθήτωσαν.
34:2
My soul boasts in the LORD; let the oppressed hear and rejoice.
μεγαλύνατε τὸν κύριον σὺν ἐμοί, καὶ ὑψώσωμεν τὸ ὄνομα αὐτοῦ ἐπὶ τὸ αὐτό.
34:3
Magnify the LORD with me; let us exalt His name together.
ἐξεζήτησα τὸν κύριον, καὶ ἐπήκουσέν μου καὶ ἐκ πασῶν τῶν παροικιῶν μου ἐρύσατό με.
34:4
I sought the LORD, and He answered me; He delivered me from all my fears.
προσέλθατε πρὸς αὐτὸν καὶ φωτίσθητε, καὶ τὰ πρόσωπα ὑμῶν οὐ μὴ καταισχυνθῇ.
34:5
Those who look to Him are radiant with joy; their faces shall never be ashamed.
οὗτος ὁ πτωχὸς ἐκέκραξεν, καὶ ὁ κύριος εἰσήκουσεν αὐτοῦ καὶ ἐκ πασῶν τῶν θλίψεων αὐτοῦ ἔσωσεν αὐτόν.
34:6
This poor man called out, and the LORD heard him; He saved him from all his troubles.
παρεμβαλεῖ ἄγγελος Κυρίου κύκλῳ τῶν φοβουμένων αὐτὸν καὶ ῥύσεται αὐτούς.
34:7
The angel of the LORD encamps around those who fear Him, and he delivers them.
γεύσασθε καὶ ἴδετε ὅτι χρηστὸς ὁ κύριος· μακάριος ἀνὴρ ὃς ἐλπίζει ἐπʼ αὐτόν.
34:8
Taste and see that the LORD is good; blessed is the man who takes refuge in Him!
φοβήθητε τὸν κύριον πάντες οἱ ἅγιοι αὐτοῦ, ὅτι οὐκ ἔστιν ὑστέρημα τοῖς φοβουμένοις αὐτόν.
34:9
Fear the LORD, you His saints, for those who fear Him lack nothing.
πλούσιοι ἐπτώχευσαν καὶ ἐπείνασαν, οἱ δὲ ἐκζητοῦντες τὸν κύριον οὐκ ἐλαττωθήσονται παντὸς ἀγαθοῦ. διάψαλμα.
34:10
Young lions go lacking and hungry, but those who seek the LORD lack no good thing.
δεῦτε, τέκνα, ἀκούσατέ μου, φόβον Κυρίου διδάξω ὑμᾶς.
34:11
Come, children, listen to me; I will teach you the fear of the LORD.
τίς ἐστιν ἄνθρωπος ὁ θέλων ζωήν, ἀγαπῶν ἰδεῖν ἡμέρας ἀγαθάς
34:12
Who is the man who delights in life, who desires to see good days?
παῦσον τὴν γλῶσσάν σου ἀπὸ κακοῦ, καὶ χείλη τοῦ μὴ λαλῆσαι δόλον·
34:13
Keep your tongue from evil and your lips from deceitful speech.
ἔκκλινον ἀπὸ κακοῦ καὶ ποίησον ἀγαθόν, ζήτησον εἰρήνην καὶ δίωξον αὐτήν.
34:14
Turn away from evil and do good; seek peace and pursue it.
ὅτι ὀφθαλμοὶ Κυρίου ἐπὶ δικαίους. καὶ ὦτα αὐτοῦ εἰς δέησιν αὐτῶν·
34:15
The eyes of the LORD are on the righteous, and His ears are inclined to their cry (note: LXX to their prayer).
πρόσωπον δὲ Κυρίου ἐπὶ ποιοῦντας κακά, τοῦ ἐξολεθρεῦσαι ἐκ γῆς τὸ μνημόσυνον αὐτῶν.
34:16
But the face of the LORD is against those who do evil (note: Cited in 1 Peter 3:10–12), to wipe out all memory of them from the earth.
ἐκέκραξαν οἱ δίκαιοι, καὶ ὁ κύριος εἰσήκουσεν αὐτῶν καὶ ἐκ πασῶν τῶν θλίψεων αὐτῶν ἐρύσατο αὐτοὺς.
34:17
The righteous cry out, and the LORD hears; He delivers them from all their troubles.
ἐγγὺς Κύριος τοῖς συντετριμμένοις τὴν καρδίαν, καὶ τοὺς ταπεινοὺς τῷ πνεύματι σώκεο.
34:18
The LORD is near to the brokenhearted; He saves the contrite in spirit.
πολλαὶ αἱ θλίψεις τῶν δικαίων, καὶ ἐκ πασῶν αὐτῶν ῥύσεται αὐτοὺς.
34:19
Many are the afflictions of the righteous, but the LORD delivers him from them all.
Κύριος φυλάσσει πάντα τὰ ὀστᾶ αὐτῶν, ἐν ἐξ αὐτῶν οὐ συντριβήσεται.
34:20
He protects all his bones; not one of them will be broken (note: Cited in John 19:36).
θάνατος ἁμαρτωλῶν πονηρός, καὶ οἱ μισοῦντες τὸν δίκαιον πλημμελήσουσιν.
34:21
Evil will slay the wicked, and the haters of the righteous will be condemned.
λυτρώσεται Κύριος ψυχὰς δούλων αὐτοῦ, καὶ οὐ μὴ πλημμελήσουσιν πάντες οἱ ἐλπίζοντες ἐπʼ αὐτόν.
34:22
The LORD redeems His servants, and none who take refuge in Him will be condemned.
