Εἰσάκουσον, Κύριε, τῆς δικαιοσύνης μου, πρόσχες τῇ δεήσει μου· ἐνώτισαι τῆς προσευχῆς μου οὐκ ἐν χείλεσιν δολίοις.
17:1
A prayer of David. Hear, O LORD, my righteous plea; listen to my cry. Give ear to my prayer—it comes from lips free of deceit.
ἐκ προσώπου σου τὸ κρίμα μου ἐξέλθοι, οἱ ὀφθαλμοί μου ἰδέτωσαν εὐθύτητας.
17:2
May my vindication come from Your presence; may Your eyes see what is right.
ἐδοκίμασας τὴν καρδίαν μου, ἐπεσκέψω νυκτός· ἐπύρωσάς με, καὶ οὐχ εὑρέθη ἐν ἐμοὶ ἀδικία.
17:3
You have tried my heart; You have visited me in the night. You have tested me and found no evil; I have resolved not to sin with my mouth.
ὅπως ἂν μὴ λαλήσῃ τὸ στόμα μου (4)τὰ ἔργα τῶν ἀνθρώπων, διὰ τοὺς λόγους τῶν χειλέων σου ἐγὼ ἐφύλαξα ὁδοὺς σκληράς.
17:4
As for the deeds of men—by the word of Your lips I have avoided the ways of the violent.
κατάρτισαι τὰ διαβήματά μου ἐν ταῖς τρίβοις σου, ἵνα μὴ σαλευθῇ τὰ διαβήματά μου.
17:5
My steps have held to Your paths; my feet have not slipped.
ἐγὼ ἐκέκραξα, ὅτι ἐπήκουσάς μου, ὁ θεός· κλῖυον τὸ οὗς σου ἐμοὶ καὶ εἰσάκουσον τῶν ῥηματων μου.
17:6
I call on You, O God, for You will answer me. Incline Your ear to me; hear my words.
θαυμάστωσον τὰ ἐλέη σου, ὁ σώζων τοὺς ἐλπίζοντας ἐπὶ σὲ ἐκ τῶν ἀνθεστηκότων τῇ δεξιῷ σου.
17:7
Show the wonders of Your loving devotion, You who save by Your right hand those who seek refuge from their foes.
φύλαξόν με ὡς κόραν ὀφθαλμοῦ· ἐν σκέπῃ τῶν πτερύγων σου σκεπάσεις με
17:8
Keep me as the apple of (note: Literally as the pupil, the daughter of) Your eye; hide me in the shadow of Your wings
ἀπὸ προσώπου ἀσεβῶν τῶν ταλαιπωρησάντων με. οἱ ἐχθροί μου τὴν ψυχὴν μου περιέσχον,
17:9
from the wicked who assail me, from my mortal enemies who surround me.
τὸ στέαρ αὐτῶν συνέκλεισαν, τὸ στόμα αὐτῶν ἐλάλησεν ὑπερηφανίαν·
17:10
They have closed their callous hearts; their mouths speak with arrogance.
ἐκβάλλοντές με νυνὶ περιεκύκλωσάν με, τοὺς ὀφθαλμοὺς αὐτῶν ἔθεντο ἐκκλῖναι ἐν τῇ γῇ·
17:11
They have tracked us down, and now surround us; their eyes are set to cast us to the ground,
ὑπέλαβόν με ὡσεὶ λέων ἕτοιμος εἰς θήραν, καὶ ὡσεὶ σκύμνος οἰκῶν ἐν ἀποκρύφοις.
17:12
like a lion greedy for prey, like a young lion lurking in ambush.
ἀνάστηθι, Κύριε, πρόφθασον αὐτοὺς καὶ ὑποσκέλισον αὐτούς, ῥῦσαι τὴν ψυχήν μου ἀπὸ ἀσεβοῦς, ῥομφαίαν σου
17:13
Arise, O LORD, confront them! Bring them to their knees; deliver me from the wicked by Your sword,
ἀπὸ ἐχθρῶν τῆς χειρός σου· Κύριε ἀπολύων ἀπὸ γῆς, διαμέρισον αὐτοὺς ἐν τῇ ζωῇ αὐτῶν· καὶ τῶν κεκρυμμένων σου ἐπλήσθη ἡ γαστὴρ αὐτῶν, ἐχορτάσθησαν ὑείων καὶ ἀφῆκαν τὰ κατάλοιπα τοῖς νηπίοις αὐτῶν.
17:14
from such men, O LORD, by Your hand—from men of the world whose portion is in this life. May You fill the bellies of Your treasured ones and satisfy their sons, so they leave their abundance to their children.
ἐγὼ δὲ ἐν δικαιοσύνῃ ὀφθήσομαι τῷ προσώπῳ σου, χορτασθήσομαι ἐν τῷ ὀφθῆναι τὴν δόξαν σου.
17:15
As for me, I will behold Your face in righteousness; when I awake, I will be satisfied in Your presence.
