Brenton's English Septuagint · Berean Standard Bible
[A Psalm] of David concerning Goliad. Blessed [be] the Lord my God, who instructs my hands for battle, [and] my fingers for war.
144:1
Of David. Blessed be the LORD, my Rock, who trains my hands for war, my fingers for battle.
My mercy, and my refuge; my helper, and my deliverer; my protector, in whom I have trusted; who subdues my people under me.
144:2
He is my steadfast love and my fortress, my stronghold and my deliverer. He is my shield, in whom I take refuge, who subdues peoples (note: Many Hebrew manuscripts, DSS, Syriac; most Hebrew manuscripts subdues my people) under me.
Lord, what is man, that thou art made known to him? or the son of man, that thou takest account of him?
144:3
O LORD, what is man, that You regard him, the son of man that You think of him?
Man is like to vanity: his days pass as a shadow.
144:4
Man is like a breath; his days are like a passing shadow.
O Lord, bow thy heavens, and come down: touch the mountains, and they shall smoke.
144:5
Part Your heavens, O LORD, and come down; touch the mountains, that they may smoke.
Send lightning, and thou shalt scatter them: send forth thine arrows, and thou shalt discomfit them.
144:6
Flash forth Your lightning and scatter them; shoot Your arrows and rout them.
Send forth thine hand from on high; rescue me, and deliver me out of great waters, out of the hand of strange children;
144:7
Reach down from on high; set me free and rescue me from the deep waters, from the grasp of foreigners,
whose mouth has spoken vanity, and their right hand is a right hand of iniquity.
144:8
whose mouths speak falsehood, whose right hands are deceitful.
O God, I will sing a new song to thee: I will play to thee on a psaltery of ten strings.
144:9
I will sing to You a new song, O God; on a harp of ten strings I will make music to You—
[Even] to him who gives salvation to kings: who redeems his servant David from the hurtful sword.
144:10
to Him who gives victory to kings, who frees His servant David from the deadly sword.
Deliver me, and rescue me from the hand of strange children, whose mouth has spoken vanity, and their right hand is a right hand of iniquity;
144:11
Set me free and rescue me from the grasp of foreigners, whose mouths speak falsehood, whose right hands are deceitful.
whose children are as plants, strengthened in their youth: their daughters are beautiful, sumptuously adorned after the similitude of a temple.
144:12
Then our sons will be like plants nurtured in their youth, our daughters like corner pillars carved to adorn a palace.
Their garners are full, and bursting with one kind of store after another; their sheep are prolific, multiplying in their streets.
144:13
Our storehouses will be full, supplying all manner of produce; our flocks will bring forth thousands, tens of thousands in our fields.
Their oxen are fat: there is no falling down of a hedge, nor going out, nor cry in their folds.
144:14
Our oxen will bear great loads (note: Or Our chieftains will be firmly established). There will be no breach in the walls, no going into captivity, and no cry of lament in our streets.
Men bless the people to whom this lot belongs, [but] blessed is the people whose God is the Lord.
144:15
Blessed are the people of whom this is so; blessed are the people whose God is the LORD.
