Cantique des montées. Souviens-toi, Yahweh, de David, de toutes ses peines !
A song of ascents. O LORD, remember on behalf of David all the hardships he endured,
Il fit ce serment à Yahweh, ce vœu au Fort de Jacob :
how he swore an oath to the LORD, and vowed to the Mighty One of Jacob:
« Je n'entrerai pas dans la tente où j'habite, je ne monterai pas sur le lit où je repose ;
“I will not enter my house or get into my bed,
je n'accorderai point de sommeil à mes yeux, ni d'assoupissement à mes paupières,
I will not give sleep to my eyes or slumber to my eyelids,
jusqu'à ce que j'aie trouvé un lieu pour Yahweh, une demeure pour le Fort de Jacob. »
until I find a place for the LORD, a dwelling for the Mighty One of Jacob (note: LXX for the God of Jacob; see Acts 7:46.).”
Voici, entendions-nous dire, qu'elle est à Ephrata ; nous l'avons trouvée dans les champs de Jaar.
We heard that the ark was in Ephrathah (note: Literally Behold, we heard of it in Ephrathah); we found it in the fields of Jaar.
Allons au tabernacle de Yahweh, prosternons-nous devant l'escabeau de ses pieds.
Let us go to His dwelling place; let us worship at His footstool.
Lève-toi, Yahweh, viens au lieu de ton repos, toi et l'arche de ta majesté !
Arise, O LORD, to Your resting place, You and the ark of Your strength.
Que tes prêtres soient revêtus de justice, et que tes fidèles poussent des cris d'allégresse !
May Your priests be clothed with righteousness, and Your saints shout for joy.
A cause de David, ton serviteur, ne repousse pas la face de ton Oint !
For the sake of Your servant David, do not reject Your anointed one.
Yahweh a juré à David la vérité, il ne s'en départira pas : « C'est du fruit de tes entrailles, que je mettrai sur ton trône.
The LORD swore an oath to David, a promise He will not revoke: “One of your descendants I will place on your throne.
Si tes fils gardent mon alliance, et les préceptes que je leur enseignerai, leurs fils aussi, à tout jamais, seront assis sur ton trône. »
If your sons keep My covenant and the testimony I will teach them, then their sons will also sit on your throne forever and ever.”
Car Yahweh a choisi Sion, il l'a désirée pour sa demeure.
For the LORD has chosen Zion; He has desired it for His home:
« C'est le lieu de mon repos pour toujours ; j'y habiterai, car je l'ai désirée.
“This is My resting place forever and ever; here I will dwell, for I have desired this home.
Je répandrai de riches bénédictions sur sa subsistance, je rassasierai de pain ses pauvres.
I will bless her with abundant provisions; I will satisfy her poor with bread.
Je revêtirai de salut ses prêtres, et ses fidèles pousseront des cris d'allégresse.
I will clothe her priests with salvation, and her saints will sing out in joy.
Là je ferai grandir la puissance de David, je préparerai un flambeau à mon Oint.
There I will make a horn grow for David; I have prepared a lamp for My anointed one.
Je revêtirai de honte ses ennemis, et sur son front resplendira son diadème. »
I will clothe his enemies with shame, but the crown upon him will gleam.”
