Parallel

Psalms 10

Clementine Vulgate · Berean Standard Bible

In finem. Psalmus David.
Why, O LORD, do You stand far off? Why do You hide in times of trouble?
In Domino confido ; quomodo dicitis animæ meæ : Transmigra in montem sicut passer ?
In pride the wicked pursue the needy; let them be caught in the schemes they devise.
Quoniam ecce peccatores intenderunt arcum ; paraverunt sagittas suas in pharetra, ut sagittent in obscuro rectos corde :
For the wicked man boasts in the cravings of his heart; he blesses the greedy and reviles the LORD.
quoniam quæ perfecisti destruxerunt ; justus autem, quid fecit ?
In his pride the wicked man does not seek Him; in all his schemes there is no God.
Dominus in templo sancto suo ; Dominus in cælo sedes ejus. Oculi ejus in pauperem respiciunt ; palpebræ ejus interrogant filios hominum.
He is secure in his ways at all times; Your lofty judgments are far from him; he sneers at all his foes.
Dominus interrogat justum et impium ; qui autem diligit iniquitatem, odit animam suam.
He says to himself, “I will not be moved; from age to age I am free of distress.”
Pluet super peccatores laqueos ; ignis et sulphur, et spiritus procellarum, pars calicis eorum.
His mouth is full of cursing, deceit (note: LXX bitterness; cited in Romans 3:14), and violence; trouble and malice are under his tongue.
Quoniam justus Dominus, et justitias dilexit : æquitatem vidit vultus ejus.
He lies in wait near the villages; in ambush he slays the innocent; his eyes watch in stealth for the helpless.
