Hallelujah. O give thanks unto the LORD; for He is good; for His mercy endureth for ever.
107:1
Give thanks to the LORD, for He is good; His loving devotion endures forever.
Who can express the mighty acts of the LORD, or make all His praise to be heard?
107:2
Let the redeemed of the LORD say so, whom He has redeemed from the hand of the enemy
Happy are they that keep justice, that do righteousness at all times.
107:3
and gathered from the lands, from east and west, from north and south (note: Hebrew north and the sea).
Remember me, O LORD, when Thou favourest Thy people; O think of me at Thy salvation;
107:4
Some wandered in desert wastelands, finding no path to a city in which to dwell.
That I may behold the prosperity of Thy chosen, that I may rejoice in the gladness of Thy nation, that I may glory with Thine inheritance.
107:5
They were hungry and thirsty; their soul fainted within them.
We have sinned with our fathers, we have done iniquitously, we have dealt wickedly.
107:6
Then they cried out to the LORD in their trouble, and He delivered them from their distress.
Our fathers in Egypt gave no heed unto Thy wonders; they remembered not the multitude of Thy mercies; but were rebellious at the sea, even at the Red Sea.
107:7
He led them on a straight path to reach a city where they could live.
Nevertheless He saved them for His name's sake, that He might make His mighty power to be known.
107:8
Let them give thanks to the LORD for His loving devotion and His wonders to the sons of men.
And He rebuked the Red Sea, and it was dried up; and He led them through the depths, as through a wilderness.
107:9
For He satisfies the thirsty and fills the hungry with good things.
And He saved them from the hand of him that hated them, And redeemed them from the hand of the enemy.
107:10
Some sat in darkness and in the shadow of death, prisoners in affliction and chains,
And the waters covered their adversaries; There was not one of them left.
107:11
because they rebelled against the words of God and despised the counsel of the Most High.
Then believed they His words; They sang His praise.
107:12
He humbled their hearts with hard labor; they stumbled, and there was no one to help.
They soon forgot His works; They waited not for His counsel;
107:13
Then they cried out to the LORD in their trouble, and He saved them from their distress.
But lusted exceedingly in the wilderness, And tried God in the desert.
107:14
He brought them out of darkness and the shadow of death and broke away their chains.
And He gave them their request; But sent leanness into their soul.
107:15
Let them give thanks to the LORD for His loving devotion and His wonders to the sons of men.
They were jealous also of Moses in the camp, And of Aaron the holy one of the LORD.
107:16
For He has broken down the gates of bronze and cut through the bars of iron.
The earth opened and swallowed up Dathan, And covered the company of Abiram.
107:17
Fools, in their rebellious ways, and through their iniquities, suffered affliction.
And a fire was kindled in their company; The flame burned up the wicked.
107:18
They loathed all food and drew near to the gates of death.
They made a calf in Horeb, And worshipped a molten image.
107:19
Then they cried out to the LORD in their trouble, and He saved them from their distress.
Thus they exchanged their glory For the likeness of an ox that eateth grass.
107:20
He sent forth His word and healed them; He rescued them from the Pit.
They forgot God their saviour, Who had done great things in Egypt;
107:21
Let them give thanks to the LORD for His loving devotion and His wonders to the sons of men.
Wondrous works in the land of Ham, Terrible things by the Red Sea.
107:22
Let them offer sacrifices of thanksgiving and declare His works with rejoicing.
Therefore He said that He would destroy them, Had not Moses His chosen stood before Him in the breach, To turn back His wrath, lest He should destroy them.
107:23
Others went out to sea in ships, conducting trade on the mighty waters.
Moreover, they scorned the desirable land, They believed not His word;
107:24
They saw the works of the LORD, and His wonders in the deep.
And they murmured in their tents, They hearkened not unto the voice of the LORD.
107:25
For He spoke and raised a tempest that lifted the waves of the sea.
Therefore He swore concerning them, That He would overthrow them in the wilderness;
107:26
They mounted up to the heavens, then sunk to the depths; their courage melted in their anguish.
And that He would cast out their seed among the nations, And scatter them in the lands.
107:27
They reeled and staggered like drunkards, and all their skill was useless (note: Or and all their wisdom was swallowed up or and they were at their wits’ end).
They joined themselves also unto Baal of Peor, And ate the sacrifices of the dead.
107:28
Then they cried out to the LORD in their trouble, and He brought them out of their distress.
Thus they provoked Him with their doings, And the plague broke in upon them.
107:29
He calmed the storm to a whisper, and the waves of the sea (note: DSS; MT their waves) were hushed.
Then stood up Phinehas, and wrought judgment, And so the plague was stayed.
107:30
They rejoiced in the silence, and He guided them to the harbor they desired.
And that was counted unto him for righteousness, Unto all generations for ever.
107:31
Let them give thanks to the LORD for His loving devotion and His wonders to the sons of men.
They angered Him also at the waters of Meribah, And it went ill with Moses because of them;
107:32
Let them exalt Him in the assembly of the people and praise Him in the council of the elders.
For they embittered his spirit, And he spoke rashly with his lips.
107:33
He turns rivers into deserts, springs of water into thirsty ground,
They did not destroy the peoples, As the LORD commanded them;
107:34
and fruitful land into fields of salt, because of the wickedness of its dwellers.
But mingled themselves with the nations, And learned their works;
107:35
He turns a desert into pools of water and a dry land into flowing springs.
And they served their idols, Which became a snare unto them;
107:36
He causes the hungry to settle there, that they may establish a city in which to dwell.
Yea, they sacrificed their sons and their daughters unto demons,
107:37
They sow fields and plant vineyards that yield a fruitful harvest.
And shed innocent blood, even the blood of their sons and of their daughters, Whom they sacrificed unto the idols of Canaan; And the land was polluted with blood.
107:38
He blesses them, and they multiply greatly; He does not let their herds diminish.
Thus were they defiled with their works, And went astray in their doings.
107:39
When they are decreased and humbled by oppression, evil, and sorrow,
Therefore was the wrath of the LORD kindled against His people, And He abhorred His inheritance.
107:40
He pours out contempt on the nobles and makes them wander in a trackless wasteland.
And He gave them into the hand of the nations; And they that hated them ruled over them.
107:41
But He lifts the needy from affliction and increases their families like flocks.
Their enemies also oppressed them, And they were subdued under their hand.
107:42
The upright see and rejoice, and all iniquity shuts its mouth.
Many times did He deliver them; But they were rebellious in their counsel, And sank low through their iniquity.
107:43
Let him who is wise pay heed to these things and consider the loving devotion of the LORD.
Nevertheless He looked upon their distress, When He heard their cry;
Nevertheless He heard their cry; He took note of their distress.
And He remembered for them His covenant, And repented according to the multitude of His mercies.
And He remembered His covenant with them, and relented by the abundance of His loving devotion.
He made them also to be pitied Of all those that carried them captive.
He made them objects of compassion to all who held them captive.
Save us, O LORD our God, And gather us from among the nations, That we may give thanks unto Thy holy name, That we may triumph in Thy praise.

Blessed be the LORD, the God of Israel, from everlasting even to everlasting, and let all the people say: 'Amen.' Hallelujah.
