Proverbs 2 — parallel

2:1

Mein Kind, so du willst meine Rede annehmen und meine Gebote bei dir behalten,

My son, if you accept my words and hide my commandments within you,

2:2

dass dein Ohr auf Weisheit achthat und du dein Herz mit Fleiß dazu neigest;

if you incline your ear to wisdom and direct your heart to understanding,

2:3

ja, so du mit Fleiß darnach rufest und darum betest;

if you truly call out to insight and lift your voice to understanding,

2:4

so du sie suchest wie Silber und nach ihr forschest wie nach Schätzen:

if you seek it like silver and search it out like hidden treasure,

2:5

alsdann wirst du die Furcht des HErrn verstehen und Gottes Erkenntnis finden.

then you will discern the fear of the LORD and discover the knowledge of God.

2:6

Denn der HErr gibt Weisheit, und aus seinem Munde kommt Erkenntnis und Verstand.

For the LORD gives wisdom; from His mouth come knowledge and understanding.

2:7

Er lässt's den Aufrichtigen gelingen und beschirmt die Frommen

He stores up sound wisdom for the upright; He is a shield to those who walk with integrity,

2:8

und behütet die, so recht tun, und bewahrt den Weg seiner Heiligen.

to guard the paths of justice and protect the way of His saints.

2:9

Alsdann wirst du verstehen Gerechtigkeit und Recht und Frömmigkeit und allen guten Weg.

Then you will discern righteousness and justice and equity—every good path.

2:10

Denn Weisheit wird in dein Herz eingehen, dass du gerne lernest;

For wisdom will enter your heart, and knowledge will delight your soul.

2:11

guter Rat wird dich bewahren, und Verstand wird dich behüten,

Discretion will watch over you, and understanding will guard you,

2:12

dass du nicht geratest auf den Weg der Bösen noch unter die verkehrten Schwätzer,

to deliver you from the way of evil, from the man who speaks perversity,

2:13

die da verlassen die rechte Bahn und gehen finstere Wege,

from those who leave the straight paths to walk in the ways of darkness,

2:14

die sich freuen, Böses zu tun, und sind fröhlich in ihrem bösen, verkehrten Wesen,

from those who enjoy doing evil and rejoice in the twistedness of evil,

2:15

welche ihren Weg verkehren und folgen ihrem Abwege;

whose paths are crooked and whose ways are devious.

2:16

dass du nicht geratest an eines andern Weib, an eine Fremde, die glatte Worte gibt

It will rescue you from the forbidden , with seductive words

2:17

und verlässt den Freund ihrer Jugend und vergisst den Bund ihres Gottes

who abandons the partner of her youth and forgets the covenant of her God.

2:18

(denn ihr Haus neigt sich zum Tod und ihre Gänge zu den Verlorenen;

For her house sinks down to death, and her tracks to .

2:19

alle, die zu ihr eingehen, kommen nicht wieder und ergreifen den Weg des Lebens nicht);

None who go to her return or negotiate the paths of life.

2:20

auf dass du wandelst auf gutem Wege und bleibst auf der rechten Bahn.

So you will follow in the ways of the good, and keep to the paths of the righteous.

2:21

Denn die Gerechten werden im Lande wohnen, und die Frommen werden darin bleiben;

For the upright will inhabit the land, and the blameless will remain in it;

2:22

aber die Gottlosen werden aus dem Lande ausgerottet, und die Verächter werden daraus vertilgt.

but the wicked will be cut off from the land, and the unfaithful will be uprooted.
