Λάβε τὸ κεφάλαιον τῶν υἱῶν Καὰθ ἐκ μέσου υἱῶν Λευεί, κατὰ δήμους αὐτῶν, κατ’ οἴκους πατριῶν αὐτῶν,
“Take a census of the Kohathites among the Levites by their clans and families,
ἀπὸ εἴκοσι καὶ πέντε ἐτῶν καὶ ἐπάνω καὶ ἕως πεντήκοντα ἐτῶν, πᾶς ὁ εἰσπορευόμενος λειτουργεῖν ποιῆσαι πάντα τὰ ἔργα ἐν τῇ σκηνῇ τοῦ μαρτυρίου.
men from thirty to fifty years old—everyone who is qualified to serve in the work at the Tent of Meeting.
καὶ ταῦτα τὰ ἔργα τῶν υἱῶν Καὰθ ἐν τῇ σκηνῇ τοῦ μαρτυρίου· ἅγιον τῶν ἁγίων.
This service of the Kohathites at the Tent of Meeting regards the most holy things.
καὶ εἰσελεύσεται Ἀαρὼν καὶ οἱ υἱοὶ αὐτοῦ ὅταν ἐξαίρῃ ἡ παρεμβολή, κα καθελοῦσιν τὸ καταπέτασμα τὸ συσκιάζον, καὶ κατακαλύψουσιν ἐν αὐτῶ τὴν κιβωτὸν τοῦ μμρτυρίου·
Whenever the camp sets out, Aaron and his sons are to go in, take down the veil of the curtain, and cover the ark of the Testimony (note: That is, the ark of the covenant) with it.
καὶ ἐπιθήσουσιν ἐπ’ αὐτὸ αὐτὸκάλυμμα δέρμα ὑακίνθινον, καὶ ἐπιβαλοῦσιν ἐπ’ αὐτὴν ἱμάτιον ὅλον ὑακίνθινον ἄνωθεν, κοὶ διεμβαλοῦσιν τοὺς ἀναφορεῖς.
They are to place over this a covering of fine leather (note: Possibly the hides of large aquatic mammals; also in verses 8, 10, 11, 12, 14, and 25; see Exodus 25:5.), spread a solid blue cloth over it, and insert its poles.
καὶ ἐπὶ τὴν τράπεζαν τὴν προκειμένην ἐπιβαλοῦσιν ἐπ’ αὐτὴν ἱμάτιον όλοπόρφυρον καὶ τὰ τρύβλια καὶ τι θυίσκας καὶ τοὺς κυάθους καὶ τὰ σπονδεῖα ἐν οἷς σπένδει· καὶ οἱ ἄρτοι οἱ διὰ παντὸς ἐπ’ αὐτῆς ἔσονται.
Over the table of the Presence they are to spread a blue cloth and place the plates and cups on it, along with the bowls and pitchers for the drink offering. The regular bread offering is to remain on it.
καὶ ἐπιβαλοῦσιν ἐπ’ αὐτὴν ἱμάτιον κόκκινον, καὶ καλύψουσιν αὐτὴν καλύμματι δερματίνῳ ὑακινθίνῳ, καὶ διεμβαλοῦσιν δι’ αὐτῆς τοὺς ἀναφορεῖς.
And they shall spread a scarlet cloth over them, cover them with fine leather, and insert the poles.
καὶ λήμψονται ἱμάτιον ὑακίνθινον καὶ τὴν λυχνίαν τὴν φωτίζουσαν, καὶ τοὺς λύχνους αὐτῆς καὶ τὰς λαβί αὐτῆς καὶ τὰς ἐπαρυστρίδας αὐτῆς, καὶ πάντα τὰ ἄγγια τοῦ ἐλαίου οἷς λειτουργοῦσιν ἐν αὐτοῖς·
They are to take a blue cloth and cover the lampstand used for light, together with its lamps, wick trimmers, and trays, as well as the jars of oil with which to supply it.
καὶ ἐμβαλοῦσιν αὐτὴν καὶ πάντα τὰ σκεύη αὐτῆς εἰς κάλυμμα δερμάτινον ὑακίνθινον, καὶ ἐπιθήσουσιν αὐτὴν ἐπ’ ἀναφορέων.
Then they shall wrap it and all its utensils inside a covering of fine leather and put it on the carrying frame.
καὶ ἐπὶ τὸ θυσιαστήριον τὸ χρυσοῦν ἐπικαλύψουσιν ἱμάτιον ὑακίνθινον, καὶ καλύψουσιν αὐτὸ καλύμματι ὑακινθίνῳ, καὶ διεμβαλοῦσιν τοὺς ἀναφορεῖς αὐτοῦ.
Over the gold altar they are to spread a blue cloth, cover it with fine leather, and insert the poles.
καὶ πάντα τὰ σκεύη τὰ λειτουργικὰ ὅσα ὅσα λειτουργοῦσιν ἐν αὐτοῖς ἐν τοῖς ἁγίοις, καὶ ἐμβαλοῦσιν εἰς ἱμάτιον ὑακίνθινον, καὶ καλύψουσιν αὐτὰ καλύμματι δερματίνῳ ὑακινθίνῳ, καὶ ἐπιθήσουσιν ἐπὶ ἀναφορεῖς.
They are to take all the utensils for serving in the sanctuary, place them in a blue cloth, cover them with fine leather, and put them on the carrying frame.
καὶ τὸν καλυπτῆρα ἐπιθήσει ἐπὶ τὸ θυσιαστήριον, καὶ ἐπικαλύψουσιν ἐπ’ αὐτὸ ἱμάτιον ὁλοπόρφυρον·
Then they shall remove the ashes from the bronze altar, spread a purple cloth over it,
καὶ ἐπιθήσουσιν ἐπ’ αὐτὸ πάντα τὰ σκεύη ὅσοις λειτουργοῦσιν ἐπ’ αὐτὸ ἐν αὐτοῖς, καὶ τὰ πύρια καὶ τὰς κρεάγρας καὶ τὰς φιάλας καὶ τὸν καλυπτῆρα καὶ πάντα τὰ σκεύη τοῦ θυσιαστηρίου· καὶ ἐπιβαλοῦσιν ἐπ’ αὐτὸ κάλυμμα δερμάτινον ὑακίνθινον, καὶ διεμβαλοῦσιν τοὺς ἀναφορεῖς αὐτοῦ· καὶ λήμψονται ἱμάτιον πορφυροῦν καὶ σὺν καλύψουσιν τὸν λουτῆρα καὶ τὴν βάσιν αὐτοῦ, καὶ ἐμβαλοῦσιν αὐτὸ εἰς κάλυμμα δερμάτινον ὑακίνθινον, καὶ ἐπιθήσουσιν ἐπὶ ἀναφορεῖς. ἀναθορεῖς.
and place on it all the vessels used to serve there: the firepans, meat forks, shovels, and sprinkling bowls—all the equipment of the altar. They are to spread over it a covering of fine leather and insert the poles.
καὶ συντελέσουσιν’ Ἀαρὼν καὶ οἱ υἱοὶ αὐτοῦ καλύπτοντες τὰ ἅγια καὶ πάντα τὰ σκεύη τὰ ἅγια, ἐν τῷ ἐξαίρειν τὴν παρεμβολήν· καὶ μετὰ ταῦτα εἰσελεύσονται υἱοὶ Καὰθ αἴρειν, καὶ οὐχ ἅψονται τῶν ἁγίων, ἵνα μὴ ἀποθάνωσιν. ταῦτα ἀροῦσιν οἱ υἱοὶ Καὰθ ἐν τῆ σκηνῇ τοῦ μαρτυρίου.
When Aaron and his sons have finished covering the holy objects and all their equipment, as soon as the camp is ready to move, the Kohathites shall come and do the carrying. But they must not touch the holy objects, or they will die. These are the transportation duties of the Kohathites regarding the Tent of Meeting.
ἐπίσκοπος Ἐλεαζὰρ υἱὸς Ἀαρὼν τοῦ ἱερέως· τὸ ἔλαιον τοῦ φωτὸς καὶ τὸ θυμίαμα τῆς συνθέσεως καὶ ἡ θυσία ἡ καθ’ ἡμέραν καὶ τὸ ἔλαιον τῆς χρίσεως, ἡ ἐπισκοπὴ ὅλης τῆς σκηνῆς καὶ ὅσα ἐστὶν ἐν αὐτῇ ἐν τῷ ἁγίῳ, ἐν πᾶσι τοῖς ἔργοις.
Eleazar son of Aaron the priest shall oversee the oil for the light, the fragrant incense, the daily grain offering, and the anointing oil. He has oversight of the entire tabernacle and everything in it, including the holy objects and their utensils.”
Μὴ ὀλεθρεύσητε τῆς φυλῆς τὸν δῆμον τὸν Καὰθ ἐκ μέσου τῶν Λευειτῶν.
“Do not allow the Kohathite tribal clans to be cut off from among the Levites.
τοῦτο ποιήσατε αὐτοῖς, κα ζήσονται καὶ οὐ μὴ ἀποθάνωσιν, προσπορευομένων αὐτῶν πρὸς τὰ ἅγια τῶν ἁγίων. Ἀαρὼν καὶ οἱ υἱοὶ αὐτοῦ προσπορευέσθωσαν, καὶ καταστήσουσιν αὐτοὺς ἕκαστον κατὰ τὴν ἀναφορὰν αὐτοῦ·
In order that they may live and not die when they come near the most holy things, do this for them: Aaron and his sons are to go in and assign each man his task and what he is to carry.
καὶ οὐ μὴ εἰσέλθωσιν ἰδεῖν ἐξάπινα τὰ ἅγια, καὶ ἀποθανοῦνται.
But the Kohathites are not to go in and look at the holy objects, even for a moment, or they will die.”
Λάβε τὴν ἀρχὴν τῶν υἱῶν Γεδσών, καὶ τούτους κατ’ οἴκους πατριῶν αὐτῶν, κατὰ δήμους αὐτῶν·
“Take a census of the Gershonites as well, by their families and clans,
ἀπὸ πέντε καὶ εἰκοσαετοῦς καὶ ἐπάνω ἕως πεντηκονταετοῦς ἐπίσκεψαι αὐτούς, πᾶς ὁ εἰσπορευόμενος λειτουργεῖν, ποιεῖν τὰ ἔργα αὐτοῦ ἐν τῇ σκηνῇ τοῦ μαρτυρίου.
from thirty to fifty years old, counting everyone who comes to serve in the work at the Tent of Meeting.
αὕτη ἡ λειτουργία τοῦ δήμου τοῦ Γεδσών, λειτουργεῖν καὶ αἴρειν·
This is the service of the Gershonite clans regarding work and transport:
καὶ ἀρεῖ τὰς δέρρεις τῆς σκηνῆς, καὶ τὴν σκηνὴν τοῦ μαρτυρίου καὶ τὸ κάλυμμα αὐτῆς, καὶ τὸ κάλυμμα τὸ ὑακίνθινον τὸ ἂν ἐπ’ αὐτῆς ἄνωθεν, καὶ τὸ κάλυμμα τῆς θύρας τῆς σκηνῆς τοῦ μαρτυρίου,
They are to carry the curtains of the tabernacle, the Tent of Meeting with the covering of fine leather over it, the curtains for the entrance to the Tent of Meeting,
καὶ τὰ ἱστία τῆς αὐλῆς ὅσα ἐπὶ τῆς σκηνῆς τοῦ μαρτυρίου, καὶ τὰ περισσά, καὶ πάντα τὰ σκεύη τὰ λειτουργικὰ ὅσα λειτουργοῦσιν ἐν αὐτοῖς ποιήσουσιν.
the curtains of the courtyard, and the curtains for the entrance at the gate of the courtyard that surrounds the tabernacle and altar, along with their ropes and all the equipment for their service. The Gershonites will do all that needs to be done with these items.
κατὰ στόμα Ἀαρὼν καὶ τῶν υἱῶν αὐτοῦ ἔσται ἡ λειτουργία τῶν υἱῶν Γεδσὼν κατὰ πάσας τὰς λειτουργίας αὐτῶν καὶ κατὰ πάντα τὰ ἔργα δι’ αὐτῶν· καὶ ἐπισκέψῃ αὐτοὺς ἐξ ὀνομάτων πάντα τὰ ἄρτα ὑπ’ αὐτῶν.
All the service of the Gershonites—all their transport duties and other work—is to be done at the direction of Aaron and his sons; you are to assign to them all that they are responsible to carry.
αὕτη ἡ λειτουργία τῶν υἱῶν Γεδσὼν ἐν τῇ σκηνῇ τοῦ μαρτυρίου, καὶ ἡ φυλακὴ αὐτῶν ἐν χειρὶ Ἰθαμὰρ τοῦ υἱοῦ Ἀαρὼν τοῦ ἱερέως.
This is the service of the Gershonite clans at the Tent of Meeting, and their duties shall be under the direction of Ithamar son of Aaron the priest.
Υἱοὶ Μεραρεί, κατὰ δήμους αὐτῶν, κατ’ οἴκους πατριῶν αὐτῶν, ἐπισκέψασθε αὐτούς·
As for the sons of Merari, you are to number them by their clans and families,
ἀπὸ πέντε καὶ εἰκοσαετοῦς καὶ ἐπάνω ἕως πεντηκονταετοῦς ἐπισκέψασθε αὐτούς, πᾶς ὁ εἰσπορευόμενος λειτουργεῖν τὰ ἔργα τῆς σκηνῆς τοῦ μαρτυρίου.
from thirty to fifty years old, counting everyone who comes to serve in the work of the Tent of Meeting.
καὶ ταῦτα τὰ φυλάγματα τῶν αἰρομένων ὑπ’ αὐτῶν κατὰ πάντα τὰ ἔργα τῶν ἐν τῆ σκηνῇ τοῦ μαρτυρίου· τὰς κεφαλίδας τῆς σκηνῆς κα τοὺς καὶ τοὺς στύλους αὐτῆς καὶ τὰς βάσεις αὐτῆς καὶ τὸ κατακάλυμμα, καὶ αἱ βάσεις αὐτῶν καὶ οἱ στῦλοι αὐτῶν, καὶ τὸ κατακάλυμμα τῆς θύρας τῆς σκηνῆς,
This is the duty for all their service at the Tent of Meeting: to carry the frames of the tabernacle with its crossbars, posts, and bases,
καὶ τοὺς στύλους τῆς αὐλῆς κύκλω, καὶ αἱ βάσεις αὐτῶν, καὶ τοὺς στύλους τοῦ καταπετάσματος τῆς πύλης τῆς αὐλῆς καὶ τὰς βάσεις αὐτῶν καὶ τοὺς πασσάλους αὐτῶν καὶ τοὺς κάλους αὐτῶν, καὶ πάντα τὰ σκεύη αὐτῶν καὶ πάντα τὰ λειτουργήματα αὐτῶν, ἐξ ὀνομάτων ἐπισκέψασθε αὐτοὺς καὶ πάντα τὰ σκεύη τῆς φυλακῆς τῶν αἰρομένων ὑπ’ αὐτῶν.
and the posts of the surrounding courtyard with their bases, tent pegs, and ropes, including all their equipment and everything related to their use. You shall assign by name the items that they are responsible to carry.
αὕτη ἡ λειτουργία δήμου υἱῶν Μεραρεὶ ἐν πᾶσιν τοῖς ἔργοις αὐτῶν ἐν τῇ σκηνῇ τοῦ μαρτυρίου, ἐν χειρὶ Ἰθαμὰρ υἱοῦ Ἀαρὼν τοῦ ἱερέως.
This is the service of the Merarite clans according to all their work at the Tent of Meeting, under the direction of Ithamar son of Aaron the priest.”
Καὶ ἐπεσκέψατο Μωυσῆς καὶ Ἀαρὼν καὶ οἱ ἄρχοντες Ἰσραὴλ τοὺς υἱοὺς Καὰθ κατὰ δήμους αὐτῶν, κατ’ οἴκους πατριῶν αὐτῶν,
So Moses, Aaron, and the leaders of the congregation numbered the Kohathites by their clans and families,
ἀπὸ πέντε καὶ εἰκοσαετοῦς καὶ ἐπάνω ἕως πεντηκονταετοῦς, πᾶς ὁ εἰσπορευόμενος λειτουργεῖν καὶ ποιεῖν ἐν τῇ σκηνῇ τοῦ μαρτυρίου.
everyone from thirty to fifty years old who came to serve in the work at the Tent of Meeting.
καὶ ἐγένετο ἡ ἐπίσκεψις αὐτῶν κατὰ δήμους αὐτῶν δισχίλιοι διακόσιοι πεντήκοντα·
And those numbered by their clans totaled 2,750.
αὕτη ἡ ἐπίσκεψις δήμου Καάθ, πᾶς ὁ λειτουργῶν ἐν τῇ σκηνῇ τοῦ μαρτυρίου, καθὰ ἔπε’ σκέψατο Μωυσῆς καὶ Ἀαρὼν διὰ φωνῆς κυρίου ἐν χειρὶ Μωυσῇ.
These were counted from the Kohathite clans, everyone who could serve at the Tent of Meeting. Moses and Aaron numbered them according to the command of the LORD through Moses.
Καὶ ἐπεσκέπησαν υἱοὶ Γεδσὼν κατὰ δήμους αὐτῶν, κατ’ οἴκους πατριῶν αὐτῶν,
Then the Gershonites were numbered by their clans and families,
ἀπὸ πέντε καὶ εἰκοσαετοῦς καὶ ἐπάνω ἕως πεντηκονταετοῦς, πᾶς ὁ εἰσπορευόμενος λειτουργεῖν καὶ ποιεῖν τὰ ἔργα ἐν τῇ σκηνῇ τοῦ μαρτυρίου.
everyone from thirty to fifty years old who came to serve in the work at the Tent of Meeting.
καὶ ἐγένετο ἡ ἐπίσκειψις αὐτῶν κατὰ δήμους αὐτῶν, κατ' οἴκους πατρίων αὐτῶν, δισχίλιοι ἑξακόσιοι τριάκοντα·
And those numbered by their clans and families totaled 2,630.
αὕτη ἡ ἐπίσκεψις υἱῶν Γεδσών, πᾶς ὁ λειτουργῶν ἐν τῆ σκηνῇ τοῦ μαρτυρίου, οὓς ἐπεσκέψατο Μωυσῆς καὶ Ἀαρὼν διὰ φωνῆς κυρίου ἐν χειρὶ Μωυσῆ.
These were counted from the Gershonite clans who served at the Tent of Meeting, whom Moses and Aaron counted at the LORD’s command.
Ἐπεσκέπησαν δὲ καὶ δῆμος υἱῶν Μεραρεὶ κατὰ δήμους αὐτῶν, κατ’ οἴκους πατριῶν αὐτῶν,
And the Merarites were numbered by their clans and families,
ἀπὸ πέντε καὶ εἰκοσαετοῦς καὶ ἐπάνω ἕως πεντηκονταετοῦς, πᾶς ὁ εἰσπορευόμενος λειτουργεῖν πρὸς τὰ ἔργα τῆς σκηνῆς τοῦ μαρτυρίου.
everyone from thirty to fifty years old who came to serve in the work at the Tent of Meeting.
καὶ ἐγενήθη ἡ ἐπίσκεψις αὐτῶν κατὰ δήμους αὐτῶν, κατ’ οἴκους πατριῶν αὐτῶν, τρισχίλιοι καὶ διακόσιοι·
The men registered by their clans numbered 3,200.
αὕτη ἡ ἐπίσκεψις δήμου υἱῶν Μεραρεί, οὓς ἐπεσκέψατο Μωυσῆς καὶ Ἀαρὼν διὰ φωνῆς κυρίου ἐν Μωυσῆ.
These were counted from the Merarite clans, whom Moses and Aaron numbered at the LORD’s command through Moses.
Πάντες οἱ ἐπεσκεμμένοι οὑς ἐπεσκέψατο Μωυσῆς καὶ Ἀαρὼν καὶ οἱ ἄρχοντες Ἰσραήλ, τοὺς Λευείτας, κατὰ δήμους καὶ κατ’ οἴκους πατριῶν,
So Moses, Aaron, and the leaders of Israel numbered by their clans and families all the Levites
ἀπὸ πέντε καὶ εἰκοσσαετοῦς καὶ ἐπάνω Ἴως πεντηκονταετοῦς, πᾶς ὁ εἰσπορευόμενος πρὸς τὸ ἔργον τῶν ἔργων καὶ τὰ ᾦα τὰ αἰρόμενα ἐν τῇ σκηνὴ τοῦ μαρτυρίου·
from thirty to fifty years old who came to do the work of serving and carrying the Tent of Meeting.
καὶ ἐγενήθησαν οἱ ἐπισκεπέντες ὀκτακισχίλιοι πεντακόσιοι ὀγδοήκοντα.
And the number of men was 8,580.
διὰ φωνῆς κυρίου ἐπεσκέψατο αὐτοὺς ἐν χειρὶ Μωυσῆ, ἄνδρα κατ’ ἄνδρα ἐπὶ τῶν ἔργων αὐτῶν καὶ ἐπὶ ὧν αἴρουσιν αὐτοί· καὶ ἐπεσκέπησαν ὃν τρόπον συνέταξεν κύριος τῷ Μωυσῇ.
At the LORD’s command through Moses they were numbered, and each one was assigned his work and burden, as the LORD had commanded Moses.
