Micah 5 — parallel

5:1

νῦν ἐμφραχθήσεται θυγάτηρ ἐμφραγμῷ. συνοχὴν ἔταξεν ἐφʼ ὑμᾶς, ἐν ὸάβδῳ πατάξουσιν ἐπὶ σιαγόνα τὰς πύλας τοῦ Ἰσραήλ.

Now, O daughter of troops, mobilize your troops; for a siege is laid against us! With a rod they will strike the cheek of the judge of Israel.

5:2

Καὶ σύ, Βηθλέεμ οἶκος Ἐφράθα, ὀλιγοστὸς εἶ τοῦ εἶναι ἐν χιλιάσιν Ἰούδα· ἐξ οὗ μοι ἐξελεύσεται τοῦ εἶναι εἰς ἄρχοντα τοῦ Ἰσραήλ. καὶ ἔξοδοι αὐτοῦ ἀπʼ ἀρχῆς ἐξ ἡμερῶν αἰῶνος.

But you, Bethlehem Ephrathah, who are small of Judah, out of you will come forth for Me One to be ruler —One whose origins are of old, from the days of eternity.

5:3

διὰ τοῦτο δώσει αὐτοὺς ἕως καιροῦ τικτούσης τέξεται, καὶ οἱ ἐπίλοιποι τῶν ἀδελφῶν αὐτῶν ἐπιστρέψουσιν ἐπὶ τοὺς υἱοὺς Ἰσραήλ.

Therefore Israel will be abandoned until she who is in labor has given birth; then the rest of His brothers will return to the children of Israel.

5:4

καὶ στήσεται καὶ ὄψεται, καὶ ποιμανεῖ τὸ ποίμνιον αὐτοῦ ἐν ἰσχύι Κύριος. καὶ ἐν τῇ δόξῃ ὀνόματος Κυρίου θεοῦ αὐτῶν ὑπάρξουσιν· διότι νῦν μεγαλυνθήσεται ἕως ἄκρων τῆς γῆς.

He will stand and shepherd His flock in the strength of the LORD, in the majestic name of the LORD His God. And they will dwell securely, for then His greatness will extend to the ends of the earth.

5:5

καὶ ἔσται αὕτη εἰρήνη· Ἀσσοὺρ ὅταν ἐπέλθῃ ἐπὶ τὴν γῆν ὑμῶν καὶ ὅταν ἐπιβῇ ἐπὶ τὴν χώραν ὑμῶν, καὶ ἐπεγερθήσονται ἐπʼ αὐτὸν ἑπτὰ ποιμένες καὶ ὀκτὼ δήγματα ἀνθρόπων·

And He will be when Assyria invades our land and tramples our citadels. We will raise against it seven shepherds, even eight leaders of men.

5:6

καὶ ποιμανοῦσιν τὸν Ἀσσοὺρ ἐν όομφαίᾳ καὶ τὴν γῆν τοῦ Νεβρὼδ ἐν τῇ τάφρῳ αὐτῆς· καὶ όύσεται ἐκ τοῦ Ἀσσούρ, ὅταν ἐπέλθῃ ἐπὶ τὴν γῆν ὑμῶν καὶ ὅταν ἐπιβῇ ἐπὶ τὰ δρία ὑμῶν.

And they will rule the land of Assyria with the sword, and the land of Nimrod with the blade drawn. So He will deliver us when Assyria invades our land and marches into our borders.

5:7

καὶ ἔσται τὸ ὑπόλιμμα τοῦ Ἰακὼβ ἐν τοῖς ἔθνεσιν ἐν μέσῳ λαῶν πολλῶν ὡς δρόσος παρὰ Κυρίου πίπτουσα καὶ ὡς ἄρνες ἐπὶ ἄγρωστιν, ὅπως μὴ συναχθῇ μηδεὶς μηδέ ὑποστῇ ἐν υἱοῖς ἀνθρώπων.

Then the remnant of Jacob will be in the midst of many peoples like dew from the LORD, like showers on the grass, which do not wait for man or linger for mankind.

5:8

καὶ ἔσται τὸ ὑπόλιμμα Ἰακὼβ ἐν τοῖς ξθνεσιν ἐν μέσῳ πολλῶν λαῶν ὡς λέων ἐν κτήνεσιν ἐν τῷ δρυμῷ καὶ ὡς σκύμνος ἐν ποιμνίοις προβάτων, ὃν τρόπον ὅταν διέλθῃ καὶ διαστείλας ἁρπάσῃ, καὶ μὴ ἦ ὁ ἐξαιρούμενος.

Then the remnant of Jacob will be among the nations, in the midst of many peoples, like a lion among the beasts of the forest, like a young lion among flocks of sheep, which tramples and tears as it passes through, with no one to rescue them.

5:9

ὑψωθήσεται ἡ χείρ σου ἐπὶ τοὺς θλίβοντάς σε, καὶ πάντες οἱ ἐχθροί σου ἐξολεθρευθήσονται.

Your hand will be lifted over your foes, and all your enemies will be cut off.
