Dies ist der Anfang des Evangeliums von Jesus Christus, dem Sohn Gottes,
This is the beginning of the gospel of Jesus Christ, the Son of God (note: ECM, NE, BYZ, and TR; SBL and WH the beginning of the gospel of Jesus Christ.).
wie geschrieben steht in den Propheten: „Siehe, ich sende meinen Engel vor dir her, der da bereite deinen Weg vor dir.”
As it is written in Isaiah the prophet (note: BYZ and TR in the prophets:): “Behold, I will send My messenger ahead of You, who will prepare Your way (note: Malachi 3:1).”
„Es ist eine Stimme eines Predigers in der Wüste: Bereitet den Weg des Herrn, macht seine Steige richtig!”
“A voice of one calling in the wilderness, ‘Prepare the way for the Lord, make straight paths for Him (note: Isaiah 40:3 (see also LXX)).’”
Johannes, der war in der Wüste, taufte und predigte von der Taufe der Buße zur Vergebung der Sünden.
John the Baptist appeared in the wilderness, preaching a baptism of repentance for the forgiveness of sins.
Und es ging zu ihm hinaus das ganze jüdische Land und die von Jerusalem und ließen sich alle von ihm taufen im Jordan und bekannten ihre Sünden.
People went out to him from all of Jerusalem and the countryside of Judea. Confessing their sins, they were baptized by him in the Jordan River.
Johannes aber war bekleidet mit Kamelhaaren und mit einem ledernen Gürtel um seine Lenden, und aß Heuschrecken und wilden Honig;
John was clothed in camel’s hair, with a leather belt around his waist. His food was locusts and wild honey.
und er predigte und sprach: Es kommt einer nach mir, der ist stärker denn ich, dem ich nicht genugsam bin, dass ich mich vor ihm bücke und die Riemen seiner Schuhe auflöse.
And he proclaimed: “After me will come One more powerful than I, the straps of whose sandals I am not worthy to stoop down and untie.
Ich taufe euch mit Wasser; aber er wird euch mit dem Heiligen Geist taufen.
I baptize you with water (note: Or in water), but He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit (note: Or in the Holy Spirit).”
Und es begab sich zu der Zeit, dass Jesus aus Galiläa von Nazareth kam und ließ sich taufen von Johannes im Jordan.
In those days Jesus came from Nazareth in Galilee and was baptized by John in the Jordan.
Und alsbald stieg er aus dem Wasser und sah, dass sich der Himmel auftat, und den Geist gleich wie eine Taube herabkommen auf ihn.
As soon as Jesus came up out of the water, He saw (note: Or he saw; see John 1:32–33) the heavens breaking open and the Spirit descending on Him like a dove.
Und da geschah eine Stimme vom Himmel: Du bist mein lieber Sohn, an dem ich Wohlgefallen habe.
And a voice came from heaven: “You are My beloved Son; in You I am well pleased.”
Und alsbald trieb ihn der Geist in die Wüste,
At once the Spirit drove Jesus into the wilderness,
und er war allda in der Wüste vierzig Tage und ward versucht von dem Satan und war bei den Tieren, und die Engel dienten ihm.
and He was there for forty days, being tempted by Satan. He was with the wild animals, and the angels ministered to Him.
Nachdem aber Johannes überantwortet war, kam Jesus nach Galiläa und predigte das Evangelium vom Reich Gottes
After the arrest of John, Jesus went into Galilee and proclaimed the gospel of God (note: BYZ and TR the gospel of the kingdom of God).
und sprach: Die Zeit ist erfüllet, und das Reich Gottes ist herbeigekommen. Tut Buße und glaubt an das Evangelium!
“The time is fulfilled,” He said, “and the kingdom of God is near. Repent and believe in the gospel!”
Da er aber am Galiläischen Meer ging, sah er Simon und Andreas, seinen Bruder, dass sie ihre Netze ins Meer warfen; denn sie waren Fischer.
As Jesus was walking beside the Sea of Galilee, He saw Simon and his brother Andrew. They were casting a net into the sea, for they were fishermen.
Und Jesus sprach zu ihnen: Folget mir nach; ich will euch zu Menschenfischern machen!
“Come, follow Me,” Jesus said, “and I will make you fishers of men.”
Alsobald verließen sie ihre Netze und folgten ihm nach.
And at once they left their nets and followed Him.
Und da er von da ein wenig weiterging, sah er Jakobus, den Sohn des Zebedäus, und Johannes, seinen Bruder, dass sie die Netze im Schiff flickten; und alsbald rief er sie.
Going on a little farther, He saw James son of Zebedee and his brother John. They were in a boat, mending their nets.
Und sie ließen ihren Vater Zebedäus im Schiff mit den Tagelöhnern und folgten ihm nach.
Immediately Jesus called them, and they left their father Zebedee in the boat with the hired men and followed Him.
Und sie gingen gen Kapernaum; und alsbald am Sabbat ging er in die Schule und lehrte.
Then Jesus and His companions went to Capernaum, and right away Jesus entered the synagogue on the Sabbath and began to teach.
Und sie entsetzten sich über seine Lehre; denn er lehrte gewaltig und nicht wie die Schriftgelehrten.
The people were astonished at His teaching, because He taught as one who had authority, and not as the scribes.
Und es war in ihrer Schule ein Mensch, besessen von einem unsauberen Geist, der schrie
Suddenly a man with an unclean spirit cried out in the synagogue:
und sprach: Halt, was haben wir mit dir zu schaffen, Jesus von Nazareth? Du bist gekommen, uns zu verderben. Ich weiß wer du bist: der Heilige Gottes.
“What do You want with us, Jesus of Nazareth? Have You come to destroy us? I know who You are—the Holy One of God!”
Und Jesus bedrohte ihn und sprach: Verstumme und fahre aus von ihm!
But Jesus rebuked the spirit. “Be silent!” He said. “Come out of him!”
Und der unsaubere Geist riss ihn und schrie laut und fuhr aus von ihm.
At this, the unclean spirit threw the man into convulsions and came out with a loud shriek.
Und sie entsetzten sich alle, also dass sie untereinander sich befragten und sprachen: Was ist das? Was ist das für eine neue Lehre? Er gebietet mit Gewalt den unsauberen Geistern, und sie gehorchen ihm.
All the people were amazed and began to ask one another, “What is this? A new teaching with authority! He commands even the unclean spirits, and they obey Him!”
Und sein Gerücht erscholl alsbald umher in das galiläische Land.
And the news about Jesus spread quickly through the whole region of Galilee.
Und sie gingen alsbald aus der Schule und kamen in das Haus des Simon und Andreas mit Jakobus und Johannes.
As soon as Jesus and His companions had left the synagogue, they went with James and John to the home of Simon and Andrew.
Und die Schwiegermutter Simons lag und hatte das Fieber; und alsbald sagten sie ihm von ihr.
Simon’s mother-in-law was sick in bed with a fever, and they promptly told Jesus about her.
Und er trat zu ihr und richtete sie auf und hielt sie bei der Hand; und das Fieber verließ sie, und sie diente ihnen.
So He went to her, took her by the hand, and helped her up. The fever left her, and she began to serve them.
Am Abend aber, da die Sonne untergegangen war, brachten sie zu ihm allerlei Kranke und Besessene.
That evening, after sunset, people brought to Jesus all the sick and demon-possessed,
Und er half vielen Kranken, die mit mancherlei Seuchen beladen waren, und trieb viele Teufel aus und ließ die Teufel nicht reden, denn sie kannten ihn.
And He healed many who were ill with various diseases and drove out many demons. But He would not allow the demons to speak, because they knew who He was.
Und des Morgens vor Tage stand er auf und ging hinaus. Und Jesus ging in eine wüste Stätte und betete daselbst.
Early in the morning, while it was still dark, Jesus got up and went out to a solitary place to pray.
Und Petrus mit denen, die bei ihm waren, eilten ihm nach.
Simon and his companions went to look for Him,
Und da sie ihn fanden, sprachen sie zu ihm: Jedermann sucht dich.
and when they found Him, they said, “Everyone is looking for You!”
Und er sprach zu ihnen: Lasst uns in die nächsten Städte gehen, dass ich daselbst auch predige; denn dazu bin ich gekommen.
But Jesus answered, “Let us go on to the neighboring towns so I can preach there as well, for that is why I have come.”
Und er predigte in ihren Schulen in ganz Galiläa und trieb die Teufel aus.
So He went throughout Galilee, preaching in their synagogues and driving out demons.
Und es kam zu ihm ein Aussätziger, der bat ihn, kniete vor ihm und sprach: Willst du, so kannst du mich wohl reinigen.
Then a leper (note: A leper was one afflicted with a skin disease. See Leviticus 13.) came to Jesus, begging on his knees: “If You are willing, You can make me clean.”
Und es jammerte Jesum, und er reckte die Hand aus, rührte ihn an und sprach: Ich will's tun; sei gereinigt!
Moved with compassion (note: SBL Moved with indignation), Jesus reached out His hand and touched the man. “I am willing,” He said. “Be clean!”
Und als er so sprach, ging der Aussatz alsbald von ihm, und er ward rein.
And immediately the leprosy left him, and the man was cleansed.
Und Jesus bedrohte ihn und trieb ihn alsbald von sich
Jesus promptly sent him away with a stern warning:
und sprach zu ihm: Siehe zu, dass du niemand davon sagest; sondern gehe hin und zeige dich dem Priester und opfere für deine Reinigung, was Mose geboten hat, zum Zeugnis über sie.
“See that you don’t tell anyone. But go, show yourself to the priest and present the offering Moses prescribed for your cleansing, as a testimony to them (note: See Leviticus 14:1–32.).”
Er aber, da er hinauskam, hob er an und sagte viel davon und machte die Geschichte ruchbar, also dass er hinfort nicht mehr konnte öffentlich in die Stadt gehen; sondern er war draußen in den wüsten Örtern, und sie kamen zu ihm von allen Enden.
But the man went out and openly began to proclaim and spread the news. Consequently, Jesus could no longer enter a town in plain view, but He stayed out in solitary places. Yet people came to Him from every quarter.
