Jesus aber, voll des heiligen Geistes, kam wieder von dem Jordan und ward vom Geist in die Wüste geführt
Then Jesus, full of the Holy Spirit, returned from the Jordan and was led by the Spirit into the wilderness (note: Or in the wilderness),
und ward vierzig Tage lang vom Teufel versucht. Und er aß nichts in diesen Tagen; und da sie ein Ende hatten, hungerte ihn darnach.
where for forty days He was tempted by the devil. He ate nothing during those days, and when they had ended, He was hungry.
Der Teufel aber sprach zu ihm: Bist du Gottes Sohn, so sprich zu dem Stein, dass er Brot werde.
The devil said to Him, “If You are the Son of God, tell this stone to become bread.”
Und Jesus antwortete und sprach zu ihm: Es steht geschrieben: „Der Mensch lebt nicht allein vom Brot, sondern von einem jeglichen Wort Gottes.”
But Jesus answered, “It is written: ‘Man shall not live on bread alone (note: Deuteronomy 8:3; BYZ and TR on bread alone, but on every word of God.).’”
Und der Teufel führte ihn auf einen hohen Berg und zeigte ihm alle Reiche der ganzen Welt in einem Augenblick
Then the devil led Him up to a high place and showed Him in an instant all the kingdoms of the world.
und sprach zu ihm: Alle diese Macht will ich dir geben und ihre Herrlichkeit; denn sie ist mir übergeben, und ich gebe sie, welchem ich will.
“I will give You authority over all these kingdoms and all their glory,” he said. “For it has been relinquished to me, and I can give it to anyone I wish.
So du nun mich willst anbeten, so soll es alles dein sein.
So if You worship me, it will all be Yours.”
Jesus antwortete ihm und sprach: Es steht geschrieben: „Du sollst Gott, deinen Herrn, anbeten und ihm allein dienen.”
But Jesus answered, “It is written: ‘Worship the Lord your God and serve Him only (note: Deuteronomy 6:13; BYZ and TR “Get behind Me, Satan! For it is written...).’”
Und er führte ihn gen Jerusalem und stellte ihn auf des Tempels Zinne und sprach zu ihm: Bist du Gottes Sohn, so lass dich von hinnen hinunter
Then the devil led Him to Jerusalem and set Him on the pinnacle of the temple. “If You are the Son of God,” he said, “throw Yourself down from here.
denn es steht geschrieben: „Er wird befehlen seinen Engeln von dir, dass sie dich bewahren
For it is written: ‘He will command His angels concerning You to guard You carefully,
und auf den Händen tragen, auf dass du nicht etwa deinen Fuß an einen Stein stößt.”
and they will lift You up in their hands, so that You will not strike Your foot against a stone (note: Psalm 91:11–12).’”
Jesus antwortete und sprach zu ihm: Es ist gesagt: „Du sollst Gott, deinen Herrn, nicht versuchen.”
But Jesus answered, “It also says, ‘Do not put the Lord your God to the test.’”
Und da der Teufel alle Versuchung vollendet hatte, wich er von ihm eine Zeitlang.
When the devil had finished every temptation, he left Him until an opportune time.
Und Jesus kam wieder in des Geistes Kraft nach Galiläa; und das Gerücht erscholl von ihm durch alle umliegenden Orte.
Jesus returned to Galilee in the power of the Spirit, and the news about Him spread throughout the surrounding region.
Und er lehrte in ihren Schulen und ward von jedermann gepriesen.
He taught in their synagogues and was glorified by everyone.
Und er kam gen Nazareth, da er erzogen war, und ging in die Schule nach seiner Gewohnheit am Sabbattage und stand auf und wollte lesen.
Then Jesus came to Nazareth, where He had been brought up. As was His custom, He entered the synagogue on the Sabbath. And when He stood up to read,
Da ward ihm das Buch des Propheten Jesaja gereicht. Und da er das Buch auftat, fand er den Ort, da geschrieben steht:
the scroll of the prophet Isaiah was handed to Him. Unrolling it, He found the place where it was written:
„Der Geist des Herrn ist bei mir, darum, dass er mich gesalbt hat; er hat mich gesandt, zu verkündigen das Evangelium den Armen, zu heilen die zerstoßenen Herzen, zu predigen den Gefangenen, dass sie los sein sollten, und den Blinden das Gesicht und den Zerschlagenen, dass sie frei und ledig sein sollen,
“The Spirit of the Lord is on Me, because He has anointed Me to preach good news to the poor. He has sent Me to proclaim liberty to the captives and recovery of sight to the blind, to release the oppressed,
und zu verkündigen das angenehme Jahr des Herrn.”
to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor (note: Or to proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord; Isaiah 61:1–2 (see also LXX)).”
Und als er das Buch zutat, gab er's dem Diener und setzte sich. Und aller Augen, die in der Schule waren, sahen auf ihn.
Then He rolled up the scroll, returned it to the attendant, and sat down. The eyes of everyone in the synagogue were fixed on Him,
Und er fing an, zu sagen zu ihnen: Heute ist diese Schrift erfüllt vor euren Ohren.
and He began by saying, “Today this Scripture is fulfilled in your hearing.”
Und sie gaben alle Zeugnis von ihm und wunderten sich der holdseligen Worte, die aus seinem Munde gingen, und sprachen: „Ist das nicht Josephs Sohn?”
All spoke well of Him and marveled at the gracious words that came from His lips. “Isn’t this the son of Joseph?” they asked.
Und er sprach zu ihnen: Ihr werdet freilich zu mir sagen dies Sprichwort: Arzt, hilf dir selber! Denn wie große Dinge haben wir gehört, zu Kapernaum geschehen! Tue also auch hier, in deiner Vaterstadt.
Jesus said to them, “Surely you will quote this proverb to Me: ‘Physician, heal yourself! Do here in Your hometown what we have heard that You did in Capernaum.’”
Er sprach aber: Wahrlich, ich sage euch: Kein Prophet ist angenehm in seinem Vaterlande.
Then He added, “Truly I tell you, no prophet is accepted in his hometown.
Aber in der Wahrheit sage ich euch: Es waren viele Witwen in Israel zu Elias Zeiten, da der Himmel verschlossen war drei Jahre und sechs Monate, da eine große Teuerung war im ganzen Lande
But I tell you truthfully that there were many widows in Israel in the time of Elijah, when the sky was shut for three and a half years and great famine swept over all the land.
und zu deren keiner ward Elia gesandt denn allein gen Sarepta der Sidonier zu einer Witwe.
Yet Elijah was not sent to any of them, but to the widow of Zarephath in Sidon.
Und viele Aussätzige waren in Israel zu des Propheten Elisa Zeiten; und deren keiner wurde gereinigt denn allein Naeman aus Syrien.
And there were many lepers (note: A leper was one afflicted with a skin disease. See Leviticus 13.) in Israel in the time of Elisha the prophet. Yet not one of them was cleansed—only Naaman the Syrian.”
Und sie wurden voll Zorns alle, die in der Schule waren, da sie das hörten,
On hearing this, all the people in the synagogue were enraged.
und standen auf und stießen ihn zur Stadt hinaus und führten ihn auf einen Hügel des Berges, darauf ihre Stadt gebaut war, dass sie ihn hinabstürzten.
They got up, drove Him out of the town, and led Him to the brow of the hill on which the town was built, in order to throw Him over the cliff.
Und er kam gen Kapernaum, in die Stadt Galiläas, und lehrte sie am Sabbat.
Then He went down to Capernaum, a town in Galilee, and on the Sabbath He began to teach the people.
Und sie verwunderten sich seiner Lehre; denn seine Rede war gewaltig.
They were astonished at His teaching, because His message had authority.
Und es war ein Mensch in der Schule, besessen mit einem unsauberen Teufel; der schrie laut
In the synagogue there was a man possessed by the spirit of an unclean demon. He cried out in a loud voice,
und sprach: Halt, was haben wir mit dir zu schaffen, Jesus von Nazareth? Du bist gekommen uns zu verderben. Ich weiß wer du bist: der heilige Gottes.
“Ha! What do You want with us, Jesus of Nazareth? Have You come to destroy us? I know who You are—the Holy One of God!”
Und Jesus bedrohte ihn und sprach: Verstumme und fahre aus von ihm! Und der Teufel warf ihn mitten unter sie und fuhr von ihm aus und tat ihm keinen Schaden.
But Jesus rebuked the demon. “Be silent!” He said. “Come out of him!” At this, the demon threw the man down before them all and came out without harming him.
Und es kam eine Furcht über sie alle, und redeten miteinander und sprachen: Was ist das für ein Ding? Er gebietet mit Macht und Gewalt den unsauberen Geistern, und sie fahren aus.
All the people were overcome with amazement and asked one another, “What is this message? With authority and power He commands the unclean spirits, and they come out!”
Und es erscholl sein Gerücht in alle Örter des umliegenden Landes.
And the news about Jesus spread throughout the surrounding region.
Und er stand auf aus der Schule und kam in Simons Haus. Und Simons Schwiegermutter war mit einem harten Fieber behaftet; und sie baten ihn für sie.
After Jesus had left the synagogue, He went to the home of Simon, whose mother-in-law was suffering from a high fever. So they appealed to Jesus on her behalf,
Und er trat zu ihr und gebot dem Fieber, und es verließ sie. Und alsbald stand sie auf und diente ihnen.
and He stood over her and rebuked the fever, and it left her. And she got up at once and began to serve them.
Und da die Sonne untergegangen war, brachten alle, die Kranke hatten mit mancherlei Seuchen, sie zu ihm. Und er legte auf einen jeglichen die Hände und machte sie gesund.
At sunset, all who were ill with various diseases were brought to Jesus, and laying His hands on each one, He healed them.
Es fuhren auch die Teufel aus von vielen, schrieen und sprachen: Du bist Christus, der Sohn Gottes! Und er bedrohte sie und ließ sie nicht reden; denn sie wussten, dass er Christus war.
Demons also came out of many people, shouting, “You are the Son of God!” But He rebuked the demons and would not allow them to speak, because they knew He was the Christ.
Da es aber Tag ward, ging er hinaus an eine wüste Stätte; und das Volk suchte ihn, und sie kamen zu ihm und hielten ihn auf, dass er nicht von ihnen ginge.
At daybreak, Jesus went out to a solitary place, and the crowds were looking for Him. They came to Him and tried to keep Him from leaving.
Er sprach aber zu ihnen: Ich muss auch andern Städten das Evangelium verkündigen vom Reiche Gottes; denn dazu bin ich gesandt.
But Jesus told them, “I must preach the good news of the kingdom of God to the other towns as well, because that is why I was sent.”
Und er predigte in den Schulen Galiläas.
And He continued to preach in the synagogues of Judea (note: BYZ and TR Galilee; see Mark 1:39.).
