Es war ein Mann auf dem Gebirge Ephraim, mit Namen Micha.
Now a man named Micah from the hill country of Ephraim
Der sprach zu seiner Mutter: Die tausendundhundert Silberlinge, die dir genommen worden sind und derenthalben du den Fluch gesprochen und auch vor meinen Ohren gesagt hast, sieh, das Geld ist bei mir; ich habe es genommen. Da sprach sein Mutter: Gesegnet sei mein Sohn dem HErrn!
said to his mother, “The eleven hundred shekels of silver (note: 1,100 shekels is approximately 27.6 pounds or 12.5 kilograms of silver; also in verse 3.) that were taken from you and about which I heard you utter a curse—I have the silver here with me; I took it.” Then his mother said, “Blessed be my son by the LORD!”
Also gab er seiner Mutter die tausendundhundert Silberlinge wieder. Und seine Mutter sprach: Ich habe das Geld dem HErrn geheiligt von meiner Hand für meinen Sohn, dass man ein Bildnis und einen Abgott machen soll; darum so gebe ich's dir nun wieder.
And when he had returned the eleven hundred shekels of silver to his mother, she said, “I wholly dedicate the silver to the LORD for my son’s benefit, to make a graven image and a molten idol. Therefore I will now return it to you.”
Aber er gab seiner Mutter das Geld wieder. Da nahm seine Mutter zweihundert Silberlinge und tat sie zu dem Goldschmied; der machte ihr ein Bild und einen Abgott, das war darnach im Hause Michas.
So he returned the silver to his mother, and she took two hundred shekels of silver (note: 200 shekels is approximately 5 pounds or 2.3 kilograms of silver.) and gave them to a silversmith, who made them into a graven image and a molten idol. And they were placed in the house of Micah.
Und der Mann Micha hatte also ein Gotteshaus; und machte einen Leibrock und Hausgötzen und füllte seiner Söhne einem die Hand, dass er sein Priester ward.
Now this man Micah had a shrine, and he made an ephod and some household idols, and ordained one of his sons as his priest.
Zu der Zeit war kein König in Israel, und ein jeglicher tat, was ihn recht deuchte.
In those days there was no king in Israel; everyone did what was right in his own eyes.
Es war aber ein Jüngling von Bethlehem-Juda unter dem Geschlecht Judas, und er war ein Levit und war fremd daselbst.
And there was a young Levite from Bethlehem in Judah who had been residing within the clan of Judah.
Er zog aus der Stadt Bethlehem-Juda, zu wandern, wo er hin konnte. Und da er aufs Gebirge Ephraim kam zum Hause Michas, dass er seinen Weg ginge,
This man left the city of Bethlehem in Judah to settle where he could find a place. And as he traveled, he came to Micah’s house in the hill country of Ephraim.
fragte ihn Micha: Wo kommst du her? Er antwortete ihm: Ich bin ein Levit von Bethlehem-Juda und wandere, wo ich hin kann.
“Where are you from?” Micah asked him. “I am a Levite from Bethlehem in Judah,” he replied, “and I am on my way to settle wherever I can find a place.”
Micha aber sprach zu ihm: Bleibe bei mir, du sollst mein Vater und mein Priester sein; ich will dir jährlich zehn Silberlinge und deine Kleidung und Nahrung geben. Und der Levit ging hin.
“Stay with me,” Micah said to him, “and be my father and priest, and I will give you ten shekels of silver (note: 10 shekels is approximately 4 ounces or 114 grams of silver.) per year, a suit of clothes, and your provisions.” So the Levite went in
Der Levit trat an, zu bleiben bei dem Mann; und er hielt den Jüngling gleich wie einen Sohn.
and agreed to stay with him, and the young man became like a son to Micah.
Und Micha füllte dem Leviten die Hand, dass er sein Priester ward, und war also im Haus Michas.
Micah ordained the Levite, and the young man became his priest and lived in his house.
Und Micha sprach: Nun weiß ich, dass mir der HErr wird wohltun, weil ich einen Leviten zum Priester habe.
Then Micah said, “Now I know that the LORD will be good to me, because a Levite has become my priest.”
