Da nun das Volk ganz über den Jordan gegangen war, sprach der HErr zu Josua:
When the whole nation had finished crossing the Jordan, the LORD said to Joshua,
Nehmt euch zwölf Männer, aus jeglichem Stamm einen,
“Choose twelve men from among the people, one from each tribe,
und gebietet ihnen und sprecht: Hebt auf aus dem Jordan zwölf Steine von dem Ort, da die Füße der Priester stillgestanden sind, und bringt sie mit euch hinüber, dass ihr sie in der Herberge lasst, da ihr diese Nacht herbergen werdet.
and command them: ‘Take up for yourselves twelve stones from the middle of the Jordan where the priests were standing, carry them with you, and set them down in the place where you spend the night.’”
Da rief Josua die zwölf Männer, die er verordnet hatte aus den Kindern Israel, aus jeglichem Stamm einen,
So Joshua summoned the twelve men he had appointed from the Israelites, one from each tribe,
und sprach zu ihnen: Geht hinüber vor die Lade des HErrn, eures Gottes, mitten in den Jordan und hebe ein jeglicher einen Stein auf seine Achsel, nach der Zahl der Stämme der Kinder Israel,
and said to them, “Cross over before the ark of the LORD your God into the middle of the Jordan. Each of you is to take a stone upon his shoulder, according to the number of the tribes of Israel,
dass sie ein Zeichen seien unter euch. Wenn eure Kinder hernach ihre Väter fragen werden und sprechen: Was tun diese Steine da?
to serve as a sign among you. In the future, when your children ask, ‘What do these stones mean to you?’
so sollt ihr ihnen sagen: Weil das Wasser des Jordans abgerissen ist vor der Lade des Bundes des HErrn, da sie durch den Jordan ging, sollen diese Steine den Kindern Israels ein ewiges Gedächtnis sein.
you are to tell them, ‘The waters of the Jordan were cut off before the ark of the covenant of the LORD. When it crossed the Jordan, the waters were cut off.’ Therefore these stones will be a memorial to the Israelites forever.”
Da taten die Kinder Israel, wie ihnen Josua geboten hatte, und trugen zwölf Steine mitten aus dem Jordan, wie der HErr zu Josua gesagt hatte, nach der Zahl der Stämme der Kinder Israel, und brachten sie mit sich hinüber in die Herberge und ließen sie daselbst.
Thus the Israelites did as Joshua had commanded them. They took up twelve stones from the middle of the Jordan, one for each tribe of Israel, just as the LORD had told Joshua; and they carried them to the camp, where they set them down.
Und Josua richtete zwölf Steine auf mitten im Jordan, da die Füße der Priester gestanden waren, die die Lade des Bundes trugen; die sind noch daselbst bis auf diesen Tag.
Joshua also set up twelve stones in the middle of the Jordan (note: Some translators And Joshua set up the twelve stones that had been in the middle of the Jordan), in the place where the priests who carried the ark of the covenant stood. And the stones are there to this day.
Denn die Priester, die die Lade trugen, standen mitten im Jordan, bis dass alles ausgerichtet ward, was der HErr dem Josua geboten hatte. Und das Volk eilte und ging hinüber.
Now the priests who carried the ark remained standing in the middle of the Jordan until the people had completed everything the LORD had commanded Joshua to tell them, just as Moses had directed Joshua. The people hurried across,
Da nun das Volk ganz hinübergegangen war, da ging die Lade des HErrn auch hinüber und die Priester vor dem Volk her.
and after everyone had finished crossing, the priests with the ark of the LORD crossed in the sight of the people.
Und die Rubeniter und Gaditer und der halbe Stamm Manasse gingen gerüstet vor den Kindern Israel her, wie Mose zu ihnen geredet hatte.
The Reubenites, the Gadites, and the half-tribe of Manasseh crossed over before the Israelites, armed for battle as Moses had instructed them.
Bei vierzigtausend Gerüstete zum Heer gingen vor dem HErrn zum Streit auf das Gefilde Jerichos.
About 40,000 troops armed for battle crossed over before the LORD into the plains of Jericho.
An dem Tage machte der HErr den Josua groß vor dem ganzen Israel; und sie fürchteten ihn, wie sie Mose fürchteten, sein Leben lang.
On that day the LORD exalted Joshua in the sight of all Israel, and they revered him all the days of his life, just as they had revered Moses.
Gebiete den Priestern, die die Lade des Zeugnisses tragen, dass sie aus dem Jordan heraufsteigen.
“Command the priests who carry the ark of the Testimony (note: That is, the ark of the covenant) to come up from the Jordan.”
Also gebot Josua den Priestern und sprach: Steigt herauf aus dem Jordan!
So Joshua commanded the priests, “Come up from the Jordan.”
Und da die Priester, die die Lade des HErrn trugen, aus dem Jordan heraufstiegen und mit ihren Fußsohlen aufs Trockene traten, kam das Wasser des Jordans wieder an seine Stätte und floß wie zuvor an allen seinen Ufern.
When the priests carrying the ark of the covenant of the LORD came up out of the Jordan and their feet touched the dry land, the waters of the Jordan returned to their course and overflowed all the banks as before.
Es war aber der zehnte Tag des ersten Monats, da das Volk aus dem Jordan heraufstieg; und lagerten sich in Gilgal, gegen Morgen vor der Stadt Jericho.
On the tenth day of the first month the people went up from the Jordan and camped at Gilgal on the eastern border of Jericho.
Und die zwölf Steine, die sie aus dem Jordan genommen hatten, richtete Josua auf zu Gilgal
And there at Gilgal Joshua set up the twelve stones they had taken from the Jordan.
und sprach zu den Kinder Israel: Wenn eure Kinder hernach ihre Väter fragen werden und sagen: Was sollen diese Steine?
Then Joshua said to the Israelites, “In the future, when your children ask their fathers, ‘What is the meaning of these stones?’
So sollt ihr's ihnen kundtun und sagen: Israel ging trocken durch den Jordan,
you are to tell them, ‘Israel crossed the Jordan on dry ground.’
da der HErr, euer Gott, das Wasser des Jordans austrocknete vor euch, bis ihr hinüberginget, gleichwie der HErr, euer Gott, tat in dem Schilfmeer, das er vor uns austrocknete, bis wir hindurchgingen,
For the LORD your God dried up the waters of the Jordan before you until you had crossed over, just as He did to the Red Sea (note: Or the Sea of Reeds), which He dried up before us until we had crossed over.
auf dass alle Völker auf Erden die Hand des HErrn erkennen, wie mächtig sie ist, dass ihr den HErrn, euren Gott, fürchtet allezeit.
He did this so that all the peoples of the earth may know that the hand of the LORD is mighty, and so that you may always fear the LORD your God.”
