καὶ ἐγένετο μεθ’ ἡμέρας πλείους μετὰ τὸ καταπαῦσαι Κύριον τὸν Ἰσραὴλ ἀπὸ πάντων τῶν ἐχθρῶν αὐτῶν κυκλόθεν, καἰ Ἰησοῦς πρεσβύτερος προβεβηκὼς ταῖς ἡμέραις.
A long time after the LORD had given Israel rest from all the enemies around them, when Joshua was old and well along in years,
καὶ συνεκάλεσεν Ἰησοῦς πάντας τοὺς υἱοὺς Ἰσραὴλ καὶ τὴν γερουσίαν αὐτῶν καὶ τοὺς ἄρχοντας πάντας καὶ τοὺς γραμματεῖς αὐτῶν καὶ τοὺς δικαστὰς αὐτῶν, καὶ εἶπεν πρὸς αὐτούς Ἐγὼ γεγήρακα καὶ προβέβηκα ταῖς ἡμέροις.
he summoned all Israel, including its elders, leaders, judges, and officers. “I am old and well along in years,” he said,
ὑμεῖς δὲ ἑοράκατε ὅσα ἐποίησεν κύριος ὁ θεὸς ἡμῶν πᾶσιν τοῖς ἔθνεσιν τούτοις ἀπὸ προσώπου ἡμῶν, ὅτι κύριος ὁ θεὸς ἡμῶν ὁ ἑ ἐκπολεμήσας ἡμῖν.
“and you have seen everything that the LORD your God has done to all these nations for your sake, because it was the LORD your God who fought for you.
ἴδετε ὅτι ὅπερ εἶπα ὑμῖν, τὰ ἔθνη τὰ καταλελιμμένα ὑμῖν ταῦτα ἐν τοῖς κλήροις εἰς τὰς φυλάς ὑμῶν· ἀπὸ τοῦ Ἰοπδάνου πάντα τὰ ἔθνη καὶ ἐξωλέθρευσα, καὶ ἀπὸ τῆς θαλάσσης τῆς μεγάλης ὁριεῖ ἐπὶ δυσμὰς ἡλίου.
See, I have allotted as an inheritance to your tribes these remaining nations, including all the nations I have already cut off, from the Jordan westward to the Great Sea.
Κύριος δὲ ὁ θεὸς ἡμῶν, οὗτος ἐξολεθρεύσει αὐτοὺς ἀπὸ προσώπου ἡμῶν, ἕως ἂν ἀπόλωνται· καὶ ἀποστελεῖ αὐτοῖς τὰ θηρία τὰ ἄγρια, ἕως δ’ ἐξολεθρεύσῃ αὐτοὺς καὶ τοὺς βασιλεῖς αὐτῶν ἀπὸ προσώπου ὑμῶν· καὶ κατακληρονομήσατε τὴν· γῆν αὐτῶν, καθὰ ἐλάλησεν κύριος ὁ θεὸς ἡμῶν ὑμῖν.
The LORD your God will push them out of your way and drive them out before you, so that you can take possession of their land, as the LORD your God promised you.
κατισχύσατε οὖν σφόδρα φυλάσσειν καὶ ποιεῖν πάντα τὰ γεγραμμένα ἐν τῷ βιβλίῳ τοῦ νόμου ἵνα μὴ ἐκκλίνητε εἰς δεξιὰν ἢ εὐώνυμα·
Be very strong, then, so that you can keep and obey all that is written in the Book of the Law of Moses, not turning aside from it to the right or to the left.
ὅπως μὴ εἰσέλθητε τὰ ἔθνη τὰ καταλελιμμένα ταῦτα· καὶ τὰ ὀνόματα τῶν θεῶν ῶν οὐκ ὀνομασθήσεται ἐν ὑμῖν· οὐ μὴ προσκυνήσετε αὐτοῖς οὐδὲ τε αὐτοῖς,
So you are not to associate with these nations that remain among you. You must not call on the names of their gods or swear by them, and you must not serve them or bow down to them.
ἀλλὰ Κυρίῳ τῷ θεῷ ἡμῶν προσκολληθήσεσθε, ἐποιήσατε ἕως τῆς ἡμέρας ταύτης.
Instead, you shall hold fast to the LORD your God, as you have done to this day.
καὶ ἐξολεθρεύσει αὐτοὺς Κύριος ἀπὸ προσώπου ὑμῶν, ἔθνη μεγάλα καὶ ἰσχυρά, καὶ οὐθεὶς ἀντέστη κατενώπιον ἡμῶν ἕως τῆς ἡμέρας ταύτης·
The LORD has driven out great and powerful nations before you, and to this day no one can stand against you.
εἷς ὑμὠν ἐδίωξεν χιλίους, ὅτι κύριος ὁ θεὸς ἡμῶν ἐξεπολέμει ἡμῖν, καθάπερ εἶπεν ἡμῖν.
One of you can put a thousand to flight, because the LORD your God fights for you, just as He promised.
καὶ φυλάξασθε σφόδρα τοῦ ἀγαπᾷν κύριον τὸν θεὸν ἡμῶν.
Therefore watch yourselves carefully, that you love the LORD your God.
ἐὰν γὰρ ἀποστραφῆτε καὶ προσθῆσθε τοῖς ὑπολειφθεῖσιν ἔθνεσιν τούτοις τοῖς μεθ’ ὑμῶν, καὶ ἐπιγαμίας ποιήσητε πρὸς αὐτούς, καὶ συνκαταμιηῆτε αὐτοῖς καὶ αὐτοὶ ὑμῖν,
For if you turn away and cling to the rest of these nations that remain among you, and if you intermarry and associate with them,
γινώσκετε ὅτι οὐ μὴ προσθῇ κύριος τοῦ ἐξολεθρεῦσαι τὰ ἔθνη ταῦτα ἀπὸ προσώπου ὑμῶν· καὶ ἔσονται ὑμίν εἰς παγίδας καὶ εἰς σκάνδαλα καὶ εἰς ἥλους ἐν ταῖς πτέρναις ὑμῶν καὶ εἰς βολίδας ἐν τοῖς ὀφθαλμοῖς ὑμῶν, ἕως ἄη ἀπὸ τῆς γῆς τῆς ἀγαθῆς ταύτης ἢν ἔδωκεν ὑμῖν κύριος ὁ θεὸς ὑμῶν.
know for sure that the LORD your God will no longer drive out these nations before you. Instead, they will become for you a snare and a trap, a scourge in your sides and thorns in your eyes, until you perish from this good land that the LORD your God has given you.
ἐγὼ δὲ ἀποτρέχω τὴν ὁδὸν καθὰ κοὶ πάντες οἱ ἐπὶ τῆς γῆς· καὶ γνώσεσθε τῆ καρδίᾳ ὑμῶν καὶ τῆ ψυχῇ ὑμῶν διότι οὐκ ἔπεσεν εἷς λόγος ἀπὸ πάντων τῶν λόγων ὧν εἶπεν κύριος ὁ θεὸς ἡμῶν πρὸς πάντα τὰ ἀνήκοντα ἡμῖν, οὐ διεφώνησεν ἐξ αὐτῶν.
Now behold, today I am going the way of all the earth, and you know with all your heart and soul that not one of the good promises the LORD your God made to you has failed. Everything was fulfilled for you; not one promise has failed.
καὶ ἔσται ὃν τρόπον ἥκει πρὸς ἡμᾶς πάντα τὰ ῥήματα τὰ κόλα ἃ ἐλάλησεν κύριος πρὸς ἡμᾶς, οὕτως ἐπάξει Κύριος ὁ θεὸς ἐφ’ ὑμᾶς πάντα τὰ ῥήματα τὰ πονηρά, ἕως ἂν ἐξολεθρεύσῃ ὑμᾶς ἀπὸ τῆς γῆς τῆς ἀγαθῆς ταύτης ἧς ἔδωκεν Κύριος ὑμῖν,
But just as every good thing the LORD your God promised you has come to pass, likewise the LORD will bring upon you the calamity He has threatened, until He has destroyed you from this good land He has given you.
ἐν τῷ ὑμᾶς τὴν διαθήκην Κυρίου τοῦ θεοῦ ἡμῶν ἢν ἐνετείλατο πορευθέντες λατρεύσητε θεοῖς ἑτέροις καὶ προσκυνήσητε αὐτοῖς.
If you transgress the covenant of the LORD your God, which He commanded you, and go and serve other gods and bow down to them, then the anger of the LORD will burn against you, and you will quickly perish from this good land He has given you.”
