And the second lot came out for the children of Symeon; and their inheritance was in the midst of the lots of the children of Juda.
The second lot came out for the clans of the tribe of Simeon: Their inheritance lay within the territory of Judah
And their lot was Beersabee, and Samaa, and Caladam,
and included Beersheba (or Sheba), Moladah,
and Arsola, and Bola, and Jason,
Hazar-shual, Balah, Ezem,
and Erthula, and Bula, and Herma,
Eltolad, Bethul, Hormah,
and Sikelac, and Bæthmachereb, and Sarsusin,
Ziklag, Beth-marcaboth, Hazar-susah,
and Batharoth, and their fields, thirteen cities, and their villages.
Beth-lebaoth, and Sharuhen—thirteen cities, along with their villages.
Eremmon, and Thalcha, and Jether, and Asan; four cities and their villages,
Ain, Rimmon, Ether, and Ashan—four cities, along with their villages,
round about their cities as far as Balec as [men] go to Bameth southward: this [is] the inheritance of the tribe of the children of Symeon according to their families.
and all the villages surrounding these cities as far as Baalath-beer (Ramah of the Negev). This was the inheritance of the clans of the tribe of Simeon.
The inheritance of the tribe of the children of Symeon [was a part] of the lot of Juda, for the portion of the children of Juda was greater than theirs; and the children of Symeon inherited in the midst of their lot.
The inheritance of the Simeonites was taken from the territory of Judah, because the share for Judah’s descendants was too large for them. So the Simeonites received an inheritance within Judah’s portion.
And the third lot came out to Zabulon according to their families: the bounds of their inheritance shall be—Esedekgola shall be their border,
The third lot came up for the clans of the tribe of Zebulun: The border of their inheritance stretched as far as Sarid.
the sea and Magelda, and it shall reach to Bætharaba in the valley, which is opposite Jekman.
It went up westward to Maralah, reached Dabbesheth, and met the brook east of Jokneam.
And the border returned from Sedduc in a contrary direction eastward from Bæthsamys, to the borders of Chaselothaith, and shall pass on to Dabiroth, and shall proceed upward to Phangai.
From Sarid it turned eastward along the border of Chisloth-tabor and went on to Daberath and up to Japhia.
And thence it shall come round in the opposite direction eastward to Gebere to the city of Catasem, and shall go on to Remmonaa Matharaoza.
From there it crossed eastward to Gath-hepher and to Eth-kazin; it extended to Rimmon and curved around toward Neah.
And the borders shall come round northward to Amoth, and their going out shall be at Gæphael,
Then the border circled around the north side of Neah to Hannathon and ended at the Valley of Iphtah-el.
and Catanath, and Nabaal, and Symoön, and Jericho, and Bæthman.
It also included Kattath, Nahalal, Shimron, Idalah, and Bethlehem. There were twelve cities, along with their villages.
This [is] the inheritance of the tribe of the sons of Zabulon according to their families, [these] cities and their villages.
This was the inheritance of the clans of the tribe of Zebulun, including these cities and their villages.
And the fourth lot came out to Issachar.
The fourth lot came out for the clans of the tribe of Issachar:
And their borders were Jazel, and Chasaloth, and Sunam,
Their territory included Jezreel, Chesulloth, Shunem,
and Agin, and Siona, and Reeroth,
Hapharaim, Shion, Anaharath,
and Anachereth, and Dabiron, and Kison, and Rebes,
Rabbith, Kishion, Ebez,
and Remmas, and Jeon, and Tomman, and Æmarec, and Bersaphes.
Remeth, En-gannim, En-haddah, and Beth-pazzez.
And the boundaries shall border upon Gæthbor, and upon Salim westward, and Bæthsamys; and the extremity of his bounds shall be Jordan.
The border reached Tabor, Shahazumah, and Beth-shemesh, and ended at the Jordan. There were sixteen cities, along with their villages.
This [is] the inheritance of the tribe of the children of Issachar according to their families, the cities and their villages.
This was the inheritance of the clans of the tribe of Issachar, including these cities and their villages.
And the fifth lot came out to Aser according to their families.
The fifth lot came out for the clans of the tribe of Asher:
And their borders were Exeleketh, and Aleph, and Bæthok, and Keaph,
Their territory included Helkath, Hali, Beten, Achshaph,
and Elimelech, and Amiel, and Maasa, and the lot will border on Carmel westward, and on Sion, and Labanath.
Allammelech, Amad, and Mishal. On the west the border touched Carmel and Shihor-libnath,
And it will return westward from Bæthegeneth, and will join Zabulon and Ekgai, and Phthæel northwards, and the borders will come to Saphthæbæthme, and Inael, and will go on to Chobamasomel,
then turned eastward toward Beth-dagon, touched Zebulun and the Valley of Iphtah-el, and went north to Beth-emek and Neiel, passing Cabul on the left.
and Elbon, and Raab, and Ememaon, and Canthan to great Sidon.
It went on to Ebron, Rehob, Hammon, and Kanah, as far as Greater Sidon.
And the borders shall turn back to Rama, and to the fountain of Masphassat, and the Tyrians; and the borders shall return to Jasiph, and their going forth shall be the sea, and Apoleb, and Echozob,
The border then turned back toward Ramah as far as the fortified city of Tyre, turned toward Hosah, and came out at the Sea (note: That is, the Mediterranean Sea, also called the Great Sea) in the region of Achzib,
and Archob, and Aphec, and Raau.
Ummah, Aphek, and Rehob. There were twenty-two cities, along with their villages.
This [is] the inheritance of the tribe of the sons of Aser according to their families, the cities and their villages.
This was the inheritance of the clans of the tribe of Asher, including these cities and their villages.
And the sixth lot came out to Nephthali.
The sixth lot came out for the clans of the tribe of Naphtali:
And their borders were Moolam, and Mola, and Besemiin, and Arme, and Naboc, and Jephthamai, as far as Dodam; and their goings out were Jordan.
Their border started at Heleph and the great tree of Zaanannim, passing Adami-nekeb and Jabneel as far as Lakkum and ending at the Jordan.
And the coasts will return westward by Athabor, and will go out thence to Jacana, and will border on Zabulon southward, and Aser will join [it] westward, and Jordan eastward.
Then the border turned westward to Aznoth-tabor and ran from there to Hukkok, touching Zebulun on the south side, Asher on the west, and Judah at the Jordan (note: Hebrew; LXX west, and the Jordan) on the east.
And the walled cities of the Tyrians, Tyre, and Omathadaketh, and Kenereth,
The fortified cities were Ziddim, Zer, Hammath, Rakkath, Chinnereth,
and Armaith, and Arael, and Asor,
Adamah, Ramah, Hazor,
and Cades, and Assari, and the well of Asor;
Kedesh, Edrei, En-hazor,
and Keroe, and Megalaarim, and Bætthame, and Thessamys.
Iron, Migdal-el, Horem, Beth-anath, and Beth-shemesh. There were nineteen cities, along with their villages.
This [is] the inheritance of the tribe of the children of Nephthali.
This was the inheritance of the clans of the tribe of Naphtali, including these cities and their villages.
And the seventh lot came out to Dan.
The seventh lot came out for the clans of the tribe of Dan:
And their borders were Sarath, and Asa, and the cities of Sammaus,
The territory of their inheritance included Zorah, Eshtaol, Ir-shemesh,
and Salamin, and Ammon, and Silatha,
Shaalabbin, Aijalon, Ithlah,
and Elon, and Thamnatha, and Accaron;
Elon, Timnah, Ekron,
and Alcatha, and Begethon, and Gebeëlan,
Eltekeh, Gibbethon, Baalath,
and Azor, and Banæbacat, and Gethremmon.
Jehud, Bene-berak, Gath-rimmon,
And westward of Hieracon the border [was] near to Joppa.
Me-jarkon, and Rakkon, including the territory across from Joppa.
This [is] the inheritance of the tribe of the children of Dan, according to their families, these [are] their cities and their villages:
(Later, when the territory of the Danites was lost to them, they went up and fought against Leshem, captured it, and put it to the sword. So they took possession of Leshem, settled there, and renamed it after their father Dan.)
And the sons of Dan went and fought against Lachis, and took it, and smote it with the edge of the sword; and they dwelt in it, and called the name of it Lasendan:
This was the inheritance of the clans of the tribe of Dan, including these cities and their villages.
And they proceeded to take possession of the land according to their borders, and the children of Israel gave an inheritance to Joshua the son of Naue among them,
When they had finished distributing the land into its territories, the Israelites gave Joshua son of Nun an inheritance among them,
by the command of God, and they gave him the city which he asked for, Thamnasarach, which is in the mount of Ephraim; and he built the city, and dwelt in it.
as the LORD had commanded. They gave him the city of Timnath-serah (note: Timnath-serah is also known as Timnath-heres; see Judges 2:9.) in the hill country of Ephraim, as he requested. He rebuilt the city and settled in it.
These [are] the divisions which Eleazar the priest divided by lot, and Joshua the [son] of Naue, and the heads of families among the tribes of Israel, according to the lots, in Selo before the Lord by the doors of the tabernacle of testimony, and they went to take possession of the land.
These are the inheritances that Eleazar the priest, Joshua son of Nun, and the heads of the families distributed by lot to the tribes of Israel at Shiloh before the LORD at the entrance to the Tent of Meeting. So they finished dividing up the land.
and the children of Dan did not drive out the Amorite who afflicted them in the mountain; and the Amorite would not suffer them to come down into the valley, but they forcibly took from them the border of their portion.
and the Amorite continued to dwell in Edom and in Salamin: and the hand of Ephraim prevailed against them, and they became tributaries to them.
