Καὶ Ἰησοῦς πρεσβύτερος προβεβηκὼς τῶν ἡμερῶν. καὶ εἶπεν Κύριος πρὸς Ἰησοῦν Σὺ προβέβηκας τῶν ἡμερῶν, κα ἡ γῆ ὑπολέλειπται λειπται πολλὴ εἰς κληρονομίαν.
Now Joshua was old and well along in years, and the LORD said to him, “You are old and well along in years, but very much of the land remains to be possessed.
καὶ αὕτη ἡ γῆ καταλελιμμενη· ὅρια Φυλιστιείμ, ὁ Γεσειρεὶ καὶ ὁ Χαναναῖος·
This is the land that remains: All the territory of the Philistines and the Geshurites,
ἀπὸ τῆς ἀοικήτου τῆς κατὰ πρόσωπον Αἰγύπτου ἕως τῶν ὁρίων Ἀκκαρὼν ἐξ εὐωνύμων τῶν χαναναίων προσλογίζεται ταῖς πέντε σατραπίαις τῶν Φυλιστιείμ, τῷ Γαζαίῳ καὶ τῷ Ἀζωτείῳ καὶ τῷ Ἀσκαλωνείτῃ καὶ τῷ Γεθθαίῳ καὶ τῷ Ἀκκαρωνείτῃ καὶ τῷ Εὐαίῳ·
from the Shihor east of Egypt to the territory of Ekron on the north (considered to be Canaanite territory)—that of the five Philistine rulers of Gaza, Ashdod, Ashkelon, Gath, and Ekron, as well as that of the Avvites;
ἐκ Θαιμὰν καὶ πάσῃ γῇ Χανάαν ἐναντίον Γάζης, καὶ οἱ Σιδώνιοι ἕως Ταφὲκ ἕως τῶν ὁρίων τῶν Ἀμορραίων·
to the south, all the land of the Canaanites, from Mearah (note: Or Arah) of the Sidonians to Aphek, as far as the border of the Amorites;
καὶ πᾶσαν τὴν γῆν Γαλιὰθ Φυλιστιεὶμ καὶ πάντα τὸν Λίβανον ἀπὸ ἀνατολῶν ἡλίου, ἀπὸ Γαλγαὰ ὑπὸ τὸ ὄρος τὸ Ἁερμὼν ἕως τῆς εἰσόδου Ἑμάθ·
the land of the Gebalites (note: Or the area of Byblos); and all Lebanon to the east, from Baal-gad below Mount Hermon to Lebo-hamath.
πᾶς ὁ κατοικῶν τὴν ὀρεινὴν ἀπὸ τοῦ Λιβάνου ἕως τῆς Μασερεθμεμφωνάιμ, πάντας τοὺς Σιδωνίους, ἐγὼ αὐτοὺς ἐξολεθρεύσω ἀπὸ προσώπου Ἰαραήλ· ἀλλὰ διάδος αὐτὴν ἐν κλήρῳ τῷ Ἰσραήλ, ὃν τρόπον σοι ἐνετειλάμην.
All the inhabitants of the hill country from Lebanon to Misrephoth-maim—all the Sidonians—I Myself will drive out before the Israelites. Be sure to divide it by lot as an inheritance to Israel, as I have commanded you.
καὶ νῦν μέρισον τὴν γῆν ταύτην ἐν νομία ταῖς ἐννέα φυλαῖς καὶ τῷ ἡμίσει φυλῆς Μανασσή, ἀπὸ τοῦ Ἰορδάνου ἕως τῆς θαλάσσης τῆς μεγάλης κατὰ δυσμὰς ἡλίου αὐτήν· ἡ θάλασσα ἡ μεγάλη ὁριεῖ.
Now therefore divide this land as an inheritance to the nine tribes and the half-tribe of Manasseh.”
ταῖς φυλαῖς καὶ τῷ ἡμίσει Μανασσή, τῷ Ῥουβὴν καὶ τῷ Γάδ, ἔδωκεν Μωυσῆς ἐν τῷ πέραν τῷ Ἰορδάνῃ· κατ’ ἀνατολὰς ἡλίου δέδωκεν αὐτῷ Μωυσῆς ὁ παῖς κυρίου,
The other half of Manasseh, along with the Reubenites and Gadites, had received the inheritance Moses had given them beyond the Jordan to the east, just as Moses the servant of the LORD had assigned to them:
ἀπὸ Ἀροήρ, ἥ ἐστιν ἐπὶ τοῦ χείλους χειμάρρου Ἀρνῶν, καὶ τὴν πόλιν τὴν ἐν μέσῳ τῆς φάραγγος, καὶ πᾶσαν τὴν Μεισὼρ ἀπὸ Δαιδαβάν·
The area from Aroer on the rim of the Arnon Valley, along with the city in the middle of the valley, the whole plateau of Medeba as far as Dibon,
πάσας τὰς πόλεις Σηὼν βασιλέως Ἀμορραίων, ὃς ἐβασίλευσεν ἐν
and all the cities of Sihon king of the Amorites who reigned in Heshbon, as far as the border of the Ammonites;
Ἑσεβών, ἕως τῶν ὁρίων υἱῶν Ἄμμων· καὶ τὴν Γαλααδείτιδα καὶ το ὅρια Γεσειρεὶ κα τοῦ Μαχατεί, πᾶν ὄρος Ἁερμών, καὶ πᾶσαν τὴν Βασανεῖτιν ἕως Ἀχά·
also Gilead and the territory of the Geshurites and Maacathites, all of Mount Hermon, and all Bashan as far as Salecah—
πᾶσαν τὴν βασιλείαν Ὢγ ἐν τῇ Βασανείτιδι, ὃς ἐβασίλευσεν ἐν Ἐδράειν καὶ ἐν Ἀσταρώθ· οὗτος κατελείφθη ἀπὸ τῶν γιγάντων, κα ἐπάταξεν αὐτὸν Μωυσῆς καὶ ἐξωλέθρευσεν.
the whole kingdom of Og in Bashan, who had reigned in Ashtaroth and Edrei and had remained as a remnant of the Rephaim. Moses had struck them down and dispossessed them,
καὶ οὐκ ἐξωλέθρευσαν οἱ υἱοὶ Ἰσραὴλ τὸν Γεσειρεὶ καὶ τὸν Μαχατεὶ καὶ τὸν Χαναναῖον· καὶ κατῴκει βασιλεὺς Γεσειρεὶ καὶ ὁ Μαχατεὶ ἐν τοῖς υἱοῖς Ἰσραὴλ Ἴως τῆς σήμερον ἡμέρας.
but the Israelites did not drive out the Geshurites or the Maacathites. So Geshur and Maacath dwell among the Israelites to this day.
πλὴν τῆς φυλῆς Λευεὶ οὐκ ἐδόθη κληρονομία· κύριος ὁ θεὸς Ἰσραήλ, οὗτος αὐτῶν κληρονομία, καθὰ εἶπεν αὐτοῖς κύριος. καὶ οὗτος ὁ καταμερισμὸς ὃν κατεμέρισεν Μωυσῆς τοῖς υἱοῖς Ἰσραὴλ ἐν ἀραβὼθ Μωὰβ ἐν τῷ πέραν τοῦ Ἰορδάνου κατὰ Ἰερειχώ.
To the tribe of Levi, however, Moses had given no inheritance. The food offerings to the LORD, the God of Israel, are their inheritance, just as He had promised them.
καὶ ἔδωκεν Μωυσῆς τῇ φυλῇ Ῥουβὴν κατὰ δήμους αὐτῶν.
This is what Moses had given to the clans of the tribe of Reuben:
καὶ ἐγενήθη αὐτῶν τὰ δρία ἀπὸ Ἀροήρ, ἥ ἐστιν κατὰ πρόσωπον φάραγγος Ἀρνών, καὶ ἡ πόλις ἡ ἐν τῇ Φάραγγι Ἀρνών· καὶ πᾶσαν τὴν Μεισὼρ
The territory from Aroer on the rim of the Arnon Valley, along with the city in the middle of the valley, to the whole plateau beyond Medeba,
ἕως Ἑσεβών, κα πάσας τὰς πόλεις τὰς οὔσας ἐν τῇ Μεισώρ, καὶ Δαιβὼν καὶ Βαιμὼν Βάαλ καὶ οἴκου Μεελβὼθ
to Heshbon and all its cities on the plateau, including Dibon, Bamoth-baal, Beth-baal-meon,
καὶ Καριαθάιμ ἁ καὶ Σεραδὰ κοὶ Σείων ἐν τῷ ὄρει Ἔναβ,
Kiriathaim, Sibmah, Zereth-shahar on the hill in the valley,
καὶ Βαιθφογὼρ καὶ Ἀσηδὼθ Φασγὰ καὶ Βαιθθασεινώθ,
Beth-peor, the slopes of Pisgah, and Beth-jeshimoth—
καὶ πόσας τὰς πόλεις τοῦ Μεισώρ, καὶ πᾶσαν τὴν βασιλείαν τοῦ Σηὼν βασιλέως τῶν Ἀμορραίων, ὃν ἐπάταξεν Μωυσῆς αὐτὸν καὶ τοὺς ἡγουμένους Μαδιάμ, κα τὸν Εὐεὶ κοὶ τὸν Ῥόβοκ καὶ τὸν Σοὺρ καὶ τὸν ὢρ κοὶ τὸν Ῥόβε ἄρχοντα, ἔναρα Σειών, καὶ τοὺς κατοικοῦντας Σειών.
all the cities of the plateau and all the kingdom of Sihon king of the Amorites, who reigned in Heshbon until Moses killed him and the chiefs of Midian (Evi, Rekem, Zur, Hur, and Reba), the princes of Sihon who lived in the land.
καὶ τὸν Βαλαὰμ τὸν τοῦ Βεὼρ τὸν μάντιν ἀπέκτειναν ἐν τῇ ῥοπῇ.
The Israelites also killed the diviner Balaam son of Beor along with the others they put to the sword.
ἐγένετο δὲ τὰ ὅρια Ῥουβήν, Ἰορδάνης ὅριον. αὕτη ἡ κληρονομία υἱῶν Ῥουβὴν κατὰ δήμους αὐτῶν, οἱ πόλεις αὐτῶν καὶ αἱ ἐπαύλεις αὐτῶν.
And the border of the Reubenites was the bank of the Jordan. This was the inheritance of the clans of the Reubenites, including the cities and villages.
Ἔδωκεν δὲ Μωυσῆς τοῖς υἱοῖς Γὰδ κατὰ δήμους αὐτῶν.
This is what Moses had given to the clans of the tribe of Gad:
καὶ ἐγένετο τὰ ὅρια αὐτῶν Ἰαζήρ, πᾶσαι αἱ πόλεις Γαλαὰδ καὶ τὸ ἥμισυ γῆς υἱῶν Ἄμμων ἕως Ἄραβά, ἥ ἐστιν κατὰ πρόσωπον Ἀράδ,
The territory of Jazer, all the cities of Gilead, and half the land of the Ammonites as far as Aroer, near Rabbah;
καὶ ἀπὸ Ἑσεβὼν ἕως ἀραβὼθ κατὰ τὴν Μασσηφά, καὶ Βοτανεὶ καὶ Βαὰν ἕως τῶν ὁρίων Δαιβών,
the territory from Heshbon to Ramath-mizpeh and Betonim, and from Mahanaim to the border of Debir (note: LXX, Syriac, and Vulgate; Hebrew Li-debir, a variant of Lo-debar; see 2 Samuel 9:4, 2 Samuel 17:27, and Amos 6:13.);
καὶ ’Εναδὼμ καὶ Ὀθαργαεὶ καὶ Βαινθαναβρὰ κα Σοκχωθὰ καὶ Σαφάν καὶ τὴν λοιπὴν βασιλείαν Σηὼν βασιλέως Ἑσεβών· καὶ ὁ Ἰορδάνης ὁριεῖ ἕως μέρους τῆς θαλάσσης Χενέρεθ πέραν τοῦ Ἰορδάνου ἀπ’ ἀνατολῶν.
and in the valley, Beth-haram, Beth-nimrah, Succoth, and Zaphon, with the rest of the kingdom of Sihon king of Heshbon (the territory on the east side of the Jordan up to the edge of the Sea of Chinnereth (note: That is, the Sea of Galilee)).
αὕτη ἡ κληρονομία υἱῶν Γὰδ κατὰ δήμους αὐτῶν· ἐπιστρέψουσιν ἐναντίον τῶν ἐχθρῶν αὐτῶν· ὅτι ἐγενήθη κατὰ δήμους αὐτῶν· αἱ πόλεις αὐτῶν κοὶ αἱ ἐπαύλεις αὐτῶν.
This was the inheritance of the clans of the Gadites, including the cities and villages.
Καὶ ἔδωκεν Μωυσῆς τῷ ἡμίσει φυλῆς Μανασσὴ κατὰ δήμους αὐτῶν.
This is what Moses had given to the clans of the half-tribe of Manasseh, that is, to half the tribe of the descendants of Manasseh:
καὶ ἐγένετο τὰ δρία αὐτῶν ἀπὸ Μαανὰ καὶ πᾶσα βασιλεία Βασανεὶ καὶ πᾶσα βασιλεία Ὢγ βασιλέως βασᾶν, καὶ πάσας τὰς κώμας Ἰαεὶρ αἵ εἰσιν ἐν τῆ Βασανείτιδι, ἑξήκοντα πόλεις·
The territory from Mahanaim through all Bashan—all the kingdom of Og king of Bashan, including all the towns of Jair that are in Bashan, sixty cities;
καὶ τὸ ἥμισυ τῆς Γαλαάδ, καὶ ἐν Ἀσταρὼθ καὶ ἐν Ἐδράειν πόλεις βασιλείας Ὢγ ἐν Βασανείτιδι, τοῖς υἱοῖς Μαχεὶρ υἱοῖς Μανασσὴ καὶ τοῖς ἡμίσεσιν υἱοῖς Μαχεὶρ υἱοῖς Μανασσὴ κατὰ δήμους αὐτῶν.
half of Gilead; and Ashtaroth and Edrei, the royal cities of Og in Bashan. All this was for the clans of the descendants of Machir son of Manasseh, that is, half of the descendants of Machir.
Οὗτοι οὓς κατεκληρονόμησεν Μωυσῆς πέραν τοῦ Ἰορδάνου ἐν ἀραβὼθ Μωάβ, ἐν τῷ πέραν τοῦ Ἰορδάνου τοῦ κατὰ Ἰερειχὼ ἐπ’ ἀνατολῶν.
These were the portions Moses had given them on the plains of Moab beyond the Jordan, east of Jericho.
