Wie stehest du dem bei, der keine Kraft hat, hilfst dem, der keine Stärke in den Armen hat!
“How you have helped the powerless and saved the arm that is feeble!
Wie gibst du Rat dem, der keine Weisheit hat, und tust kund Verstandes die Fülle!
How you have counseled the unwise and provided fully sound insight!
Zu wem redest du? und wes Odem geht von dir aus?
To whom have you uttered these words? And whose spirit spoke through you?
Die Toten ängsten sich tief unter den Wassern und denen, die darin wohnen.
The dead tremble—those beneath the waters and those who dwell in them.
Das Grab ist aufgedeckt vor ihm, und der Abgrund hat keine Decke.
Sheol is naked before God, and Abaddon (note: Abaddon means Destruction.) has no covering.
Er breitet aus die Mitternacht über das Leere und hängt die Erde an nichts.
He stretches out the north over empty space; He hangs the earth upon nothing.
Er fasst das Wasser zusammen in seine Wolken, und die Wolken zerreißen darunter nicht.
He wraps up the waters in His clouds, yet the clouds do not burst under their own weight.
Er verhüllt seinen Stuhl und breitet seine Wolken davor.
He covers the face of the full moon (note: Or of His throne), spreading over it His cloud.
Er hat um das Wasser ein Ziel gesetzt, bis wo Licht und Finsternis sich scheiden.
He has inscribed a horizon on the face of the waters at the boundary between light and darkness.
Die Säulen des Himmels zittern und entsetzen sich vor seinem Schelten.
The foundations of heaven quake, astounded at His rebuke.
Von seiner Kraft wird das Meer plötzlich ungestüm, und durch seinen Verstand zerschmettert er Rahab.
By His power He stirred (note: Or stilled) the sea; by His understanding He shattered Rahab.
Am Himmel wird's schön durch seinen Wind, und seine Hand durchbohrt die flüchtige Schlange.
By His breath the skies were cleared; His hand pierced the fleeing serpent (note: Hebrew nachash; translated in most cases as snake).
Siehe, also geht sein Tun, und nur ein geringes Wörtlein davon haben wir vernommen. Wer will aber den Donner seiner Macht verstehen?
Indeed, these are but the fringes of His ways; how faint is the whisper we hear of Him! Who then can understand the thunder of His power?”
