Da traten herzu alle Hauptleute des Heeres, Johanan, der Sohn Kareahs, Jesanja, der Sohn Hosajas, samt dem ganzen Volk, klein und groß,
Then all the commanders of the forces, along with Johanan son of Kareah, Jezaniah (note: Hebrew; LXX Azariah; see Jeremiah 43:2.) son of Hoshaiah, and all the people from the least to the greatest, approached
und sprachen zum Propheten Jeremia: Lass doch unser Gebet vor dir gelten und bitte für uns den HErrn, deinen Gott, für alle diese Übrigen (denn unser ist leider wenig geblieben von vielen, wie du uns selbst siehst mit deinen Augen),
Jeremiah the prophet and said, “May our petition come before you; pray to the LORD your God on behalf of this entire remnant. For few of us remain of the many, as you can see with your own eyes.
dass uns der HErr, dein Gott, wolle anzeigen, wohin wir ziehen und was wir tun sollen.
Pray that the LORD your God will tell us the way we should walk and the thing we should do.”
Und der Prophet Jeremia sprach zu ihnen: Wohlan, ich will gehorchen; und siehe, ich will den HErrn, euren Gott, bitten, wie ihr gesagt habt; und alles, was euch der HErr antworten wird, das will ich euch anzeigen und will euch nichts verhalten.
“I have heard you,” replied Jeremiah the prophet. “I will surely pray to the LORD your God as you request, and I will tell you everything that the LORD answers. I will not withhold a word from you.”
Und sie sprachen zu Jeremia: Der HErr sei ein gewisser und wahrhaftiger Zeuge zwischen uns, wo wir nicht tun werden alles, was dir der HErr, dein Gott, an uns befehlen wird.
Then they said to Jeremiah, “May the LORD be a true and faithful witness against us if we do not act upon every word that the LORD your God sends you to tell us.
Es sei Gutes oder Böses, so wollen wir gehorchen der Stimme des HErrn, unsres Gottes, zu dem wir dich senden; auf dass es uns wohl gehe, so wir der Stimme des HErrn, unsres Gottes, gehorchen.
Whether it is pleasant or unpleasant, we will obey the voice of the LORD our God to whom we are sending you, so that it may go well with us when we obey the voice of the LORD our God!”
Und nach zehn Tagen geschah des HErrn Wort zu Jeremia.
After ten days the word of the LORD came to Jeremiah,
Da rief er Johanan, den Sohn Kareahs, und alle Hauptleute des Heeres, die bei ihm waren, und alles Volk, klein und groß,
and he summoned Johanan son of Kareah, all the commanders of the forces who were with him, and all the people from the least to the greatest.
und sprach zu ihnen: So spricht der HErr, der Gott Israels, zu dem ihr mich gesandt habt, dass ich euer Gebet vor ihn sollte bringen:
Jeremiah told them, “Thus says the LORD, the God of Israel, to whom you sent me to present your petition:
Werdet ihr in diesem Lande bleiben, so will ich euch bauen und nicht zerbrechen; ich will euch pflanzen und nicht ausreuten; denn es hat mich schon gereut das Übel, das ich euch getan habe.
‘If you will indeed stay in this land, then I will build you up and not tear you down; I will plant you and not uproot you, for I will relent of the disaster I have brought upon you.
Ihr sollt euch nicht fürchten vor dem König zu Babel, vor dem ihr euch fürchtet, spricht der HErr; ihr sollt euch vor ihm nicht fürchten, denn ich will bei euch sein, dass ich euch helfe und von seiner Hand errette.
Do not be afraid of the king of Babylon, whom you now fear; do not be afraid of him, declares the LORD, for I am with you to save you and deliver you from him.
Ich will euch Barmherzigkeit erzeigen und mich über euch erbarmen und euch wieder in euer Land bringen.
And I will show you compassion, and he will have compassion on you and restore you to your own land.’
Werdet ihr aber sagen: Wir wollen nicht in diesem Lande bleiben, damit ihr ja nicht gehorcht der Stimme des HErrn, eures Gottes,
But if you say, ‘We will not stay in this land,’ and you thus disobey the voice of the LORD your God,
sondern sagen: Nein, wir wollen nach Ägyptenland ziehen, dass wir keinen Krieg sehen noch der Posaune Schall hören und nicht Hunger Brots halben leiden müssen; daselbst wollen wir bleiben:
and if you say, ‘No, but we will go to the land of Egypt and live there, where we will not see war or hear the sound of the ram’s horn or hunger for bread,’
nun so hört des HErrn Wort, ihr übrigen aus Juda! So spricht der HErr Zebaoth, der Gott Israels: Werdet ihr euer Angesicht richten, nach Ägyptenland zu ziehen, dass ihr daselbst bleiben wollt,
then hear the word of the LORD, O remnant of Judah! This is what the LORD of Hosts, the God of Israel, says: ‘If you are determined to go to Egypt and reside there,
so soll euch das Schwert, vor dem ihr euch fürchtet, in Ägyptenland treffen, und der Hunger, des ihr euch besorgt, soll stets hinter euch her sein in Ägypten, und sollt daselbst sterben.
then the sword you fear will overtake you there, and the famine you dread will follow on your heels into Egypt, and you will die there.
Denn sie seien, wer sie wollen, die ihr Angesicht richten, dass sie nach Ägypten ziehen, daselbst zu bleiben, die sollen sterben durchs Schwert, Hunger und Pestilenz, und soll keiner übrigbleiben noch entrinnen dem Übel, das ich über sie will kommen lassen.
So all who resolve to go to Egypt to reside there will die by sword and famine and plague. Not one of them will survive or escape the disaster I will bring upon them.’
Denn so spricht der HErr Zebaoth, der Gott Israels: Gleichwie mein Zorn und Grimm über die Einwohner zu Jerusalem ausgeschüttet ist, so soll er auch über euch ausgeschüttet werden, wo ihr nach Ägypten zieht, dass ihr zum Fluch, zum Wunder, Schwur und Schande werdet und diese Stätte nicht mehr sehen sollt.
For this is what the LORD of Hosts, the God of Israel, says: ‘Just as My anger and wrath were poured out on the residents of Jerusalem, so will My wrath be poured out on you if you go to Egypt. You will become an object of cursing and horror, of vilification and disgrace, and you will never see this place again.’
Das Wort des HErrn gilt euch, ihr übrigen aus Juda, dass ihr nicht nach Ägypten zieht. Darum so wisset, dass ich euch heute bezeuge;
The LORD has told you, O remnant of Judah, ‘Do not go to Egypt.’ Know for sure that I have warned you today!
ihr werdet sonst euer Leben verwahrlosen. Denn ihr habt mich gesandt zum HErrn, eurem Gott, und gesagt: Bitte den HErrn, unsren Gott, für uns; und alles, was der HErr, unser Gott, sagen wird, das zeige uns an, so wollen wir darnach tun.
For you have deceived yourselves by sending me to the LORD your God, saying, ‘Pray to the LORD our God on our behalf, and as for all that the LORD our God says, tell it to us and we will do it.’
Das habe ich euch heute zu wissen getan; aber ihr wollt der Stimme des HErrn, eures Gottes, nicht gehorchen noch alle dem, das er mir befohlen hat.
For I have told you today, but you have not obeyed the voice of the LORD your God in all He has sent me to tell you.
So sollt ihr nun wissen, dass ihr durch Schwert, Hunger und Pestilenz sterben müsst an dem Ort, dahin ihr gedenkt zu ziehen, dass ihr daselbst wohnen wollt.
Now therefore, know for sure that by sword and famine and plague you will die in the place where you desire to go to reside.”
