Jeremiah 1

Swete's Septuagint · Berean Standard Bible

1:1
ΤΟ ῥῆμα τοῦ θεοῦ ὃ ἐγένετο ἐπὶ Ἰερεμίαν τὸν τοῦ Χελκίουυ ἐκ τῶν ἱερέων, ὃς κατῴκει ἐν Ἀναθὼθ ἐν γῇ Βενιαμείν·
These are the words of Jeremiah son of Hilkiah, one of the priests in Anathoth in the territory of Benjamin.
1:2
ὃς ἐγενήθη λόγος τοῦ θεοῦ πρὸς αὐτὸν ἐν ταῖς ἡμέραις Ἰ ωσεία υἱοῦ Ἀμὼς βασιλέως ούδα, ἔτους τρισκαιδεκάτου ἐν τῇ βασιλείᾳ αὐτοῦ.
The word of the LORD came to Jeremiah in the thirteenth year of the reign of Josiah son of Amon king of Judah,
1:3
καὶ ἐγένετο ἐν ταῖς ἡμέραις Ἰωακεὶμ υἱοῦ Ἰωσεία βασιλέως Ἰούδα ἕως ἑνδεκάτου ἔτους τοῦ Σεδεκία υἱοῦ Ἰωσεία βασιλέως Ἰούδα, ἕως τῆς αἰχμαλωσίας Ἰερουσαλὴμ ἐν τῷ πέμπτῳ μηνί.
and through the days of Jehoiakim son of Josiah king of Judah, until the fifth month of the eleventh year of Zedekiah son of Josiah king of Judah, when the people of Jerusalem went into exile.
1:4
Καὶ ἐγένετο λόγος Κυρίου πρὸς αὐτόν
The word of the LORD came to me, saying:
1:5
Πρὸ τοῦ με πλάσαι σε ἐν κοιλίᾳ ἐπίσταμαί σε, καὶ πρὸ τοῦ σε ἐξελθεῖν ἡγίακά σε, προφήτην εἰς ἔθνη τέθεικά σε.
“Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, and before you were born I set you apart and appointed you as a prophet to the nations.”
1:6
καὶ εἶπα Ὁ ὣν δέσποτα Κύριε, ἰδοὺ οὐκ ἐπίσταμαι λαλεῖν, ὅτι νεώτερος ἐγὼ εἰμι.
“Ah, Lord GOD,” I said, “I surely do not know how to speak, for I am only a child!”
1:7
καὶ εἶπεν Κύριος πρὸς μέ Μὴ λέγε ὅτι Νεώτερος ἐγὼ εἰμι, ὅτι πρὸς πάντας οὓς ἐὰν ἐξαποστείλω σε πορεύσῃ, καὶ κατὰ πάντα ὅσα ἐὰν ἐντείλωμαί σοι λαλήσεις.
But the LORD told me: “Do not say, ‘I am only a child.’ For to everyone I send you, you must go, and all that I command you, you must speak.
1:8
μὴ φοβηθῇς ἀπὸ προσώπου αὐτῶν, ὅτι μετὰ σοῦ ἐγώ εἰμι τοῦ ἐξαιρεῖσθαί σε, λέγει Κύριος.
Do not be afraid of them, for I am with you to deliver you,” declares the LORD.
1:9
καὶ ἐξέτεινεν Κύριος τὴν χεῖρα αὐτοῦ πρὸς μέ καὶ ἥψατο τοῦ στόματός μου, καὶ εἶπεν Κύριος πρὸς μέ Ἰδοὺ δέδωκα τοὺς λόγους μου εἰς τὸ στόμα σου.
Then the LORD reached out His hand, touched my mouth, and said to me: “Behold, I have put My words in your mouth.
ἰδοὺ καθέστακά σε σήμερον ἐπὶ ἔθνη καὶ βασιλείας, ἐκριζοῦν καὶ κατασκάπτειν καὶ ἀπολλύειν καὶ ἀνοικοδομεῖν καὶ καταφυτεύειν.
See, I have appointed you today over nations and kingdoms to uproot and tear down, to destroy and overthrow, to build and plant.”
Καὶ ἐγένετο λόγος Κυρίου πρὸς μέ λέγων Τί σὺ ὁρᾷς; καὶ εἶπα Βακτηρίαν καρυίνην.
And the word of the LORD came to me, asking, “Jeremiah, what do you see?” “I see a branch of an almond tree,” I replied.
καὶ εἶπεν Κύριος πρὸς μέ Καλῶς ἑώρακας, διότι ἐγρήγορα ἐγὼ ἐπὶ τοὺς λόγους μου τοῦ ποιῆσαι αὐτοὺς.
“You have observed correctly,” said the LORD, “for I am watching (note: The Hebrew for watching sounds like the Hebrew for almond tree.) over My word to accomplish it.”
καὶ ἐγένετο λόγος Κυρίου πρὸς μέ ἐκ δευτέρου λέγων Τί σὺ ὁρᾷς; καὶ εἶπα Λέβητα ὑποκαιόμενον, καὶ τὸ πρόσωπον αὐτοῦ ἀπὸ προσώπου βορρᾶ.
Again the word of the LORD came to me, asking, “What do you see?” “I see a boiling pot,” I replied, “and it is tilting toward us from the north.”
καὶ εἶπεν Κύριος πρὸς μέ Ἀπὸ προσώπου βορρᾶ ἐκκαυθήσεται τὰ κακὰ ἐπὶ πάντας τοὺς κατοικοῦντας τὴν γῆν.
Then the LORD said to me, “Disaster from the north will be poured out on all who live in the land.
For I am about to summon all the clans and kingdoms of the north,” declares the LORD. “Their kings will come and set up their thrones at the entrance of the gates of Jerusalem. They will attack all her surrounding walls and all the other cities of Judah.
καὶ λαλήσω πρὸς αὐτοὺς μετὰ κρίσεως περὶ πάσης τῆς κακίας αὐτῶν, ὡς ἐνκατέλιπόν με καὶ ἔθυσαν θεοῖς ἀλλοτρίοις καὶ προσεκύνησαν τοῖς ἔργοις τῶν χειρῶν αὐτῶν.
I will pronounce My judgments against them for all their wickedness, because they have forsaken Me, and they have burned incense to other gods and worshiped the works of their own hands.
καὶ σὺ περίζωσαι τὴν ὀσφύν σου καὶ ἀνάστηθι καὶ εἰπὸν πάντα ὅσα ἂν ἐντείλωμαί σοι· μὴ φοβηθῇς ἀπὸ προσώπου αὐτῶν μηδέ πτοηθῇς ἐναντίον αὐτῶν, ὅτι μετὰ σοῦ εἰμὶ τοῦ ἐξαιρεῖσθαί σε, λέγει Κύριος.
Get yourself ready. Stand up and tell them everything that I command you. Do not be intimidated by them, or I will terrify you before them.
ἰδοὺ τέθεικά σε ἐν τῇ σήμερον ἡμέρᾳ ὡς πόλιν ὀχυρὰν καὶ ὡς τεῖχος χαλκοῦν, ὀχυροῦν πᾶσιν τοῖς βασιλεῦσιν Ἰούδα καὶ τοῖς ἄρχουσιν αὐτοῦ καὶ τῷ λαῷ τῆς γῆς·
Now behold, this day I have made you like a fortified city, an iron pillar, and bronze walls against the whole land—against the kings of Judah, its officials, its priests, and the people of the land.
καὶ πολεμήσουσίν σε καὶ οὐ μὴ δύνωνται πρὸς σέ, διότι μετὰ σοῦ ἐγώ εἰμι τοῦ ἐξαιρεῖσθαί σε, εἶπεν Κύριος.
They will fight against you but will never overcome you, since I am with you to deliver you,” declares the LORD.
