So spricht nun der HErr: Gehe hin und kaufe dir einen irdenen Krug vom Töpfer, samt etlichen von den Ältesten des Volks und von den Ältesten der Priester,
This is what the LORD says: “Go and buy a clay jar from a potter. Take some of the elders of the people and leaders of the priests,
und gehe hinaus ins Tal Ben-Hinnom, das vor dem Ziegeltor liegt, und predige daselbst die Worte, die ich dir sage,
and go out to the Valley of Ben-hinnom near the entrance of the Potsherd Gate. Proclaim there the words I speak to you,
und sprich: Höret des HErrn Wort, ihr Könige Judas und Bürger zu Jerusalem! So spricht der HErr Zebaoth, der Gott Israels: Siehe, ich will ein solch Unglück über diese Stätte gehen lassen, dass, wer es hören wird, dem die Ohren klingen sollen,
saying, ‘Hear the word of the LORD, O kings of Judah and residents of Jerusalem. This is what the LORD of Hosts, the God of Israel, says: I am going to bring such disaster on this place that the ears of all who hear of it will ring,
darum dass sie mich verlassen und diese Stätte einem fremden Gott gegeben haben und andern Göttern darin geräuchert haben, die weder sie noch ihre Väter noch die Könige Judas gekannt haben, und haben die Stätte voll unschuldigen Bluts gemacht
because they have abandoned Me and made this a foreign place. They have burned incense in this place to other gods that neither they nor their fathers nor the kings of Judah have ever known. They have filled this place with the blood of the innocent.
und haben dem Baal Höhen gebaut, ihre Kinder zu verbrennen, dem Baal zu Brandopfern, was ich ihnen weder geboten noch davon geredet habe, was auch in mein Herz nie gekommen ist.
They have built high places to Baal on which to burn their children in the fire as offerings to Baal—something I never commanded or mentioned, nor did it even enter My mind.
Darum siehe, es wird die Zeit kommen, spricht der HErr, dass man diese Stätte nicht mehr Thopheth noch das Tal Ben-Hinnom, sondern Würgetal heißen wird.
So behold, the days are coming, declares the LORD, when this place will no longer be called Topheth or the Valley of Ben-hinnom, but the Valley of Slaughter.
Und ich will den Gottesdienst Judas und Jerusalems an diesem Ort zerstören und will sie durchs Schwert fallen lassen vor ihren Feinden, unter der Hand derer, die nach ihrem Leben stehen, und will ihre Leichname den Vögeln des Himmels und den Tieren auf Erden zu fressen geben
And in this place I will ruin (note: The Hebrew term for ruin sounds like the Hebrew for jar; see verses 1 and 10.) the plans of Judah and Jerusalem. I will make them fall by the sword before their enemies, by the hands of those who seek their lives, and I will give their carcasses as food to the birds of the air and the beasts of the earth.
und will diese Stadt wüst machen und zum Spott, dass alle, die vorübergehen, werden sich verwundern über alle ihre Plage und ihrer spotten.
I will make this city a desolation and an object of scorn. All who pass by will be appalled and will scoff at all her wounds.
Ich will sie lassen ihrer Söhne und Töchter Fleisch fressen, und einer soll des andern Fleisch fressen in der Not und Angst, damit sie ihre Feinde und die, so nach ihrem Leben stehen, bedrängen werden.
I will make them eat the flesh of their sons and daughters, and they will eat one another’s flesh in the siege and distress inflicted on them by their enemies who seek their lives.’
Und du sollst den Krug zerbrechen vor den Männern, die mit dir gegangen sind,
Then you are to shatter the jar in the presence of the men who accompany you,
und sprich zu ihnen: So spricht der HErr Zebaoth: Eben wie man eines Töpfers Gefäß zerbricht, das nicht kann wieder ganz werden, so will ich dies Volk und diese Stadt auch zerbrechen; und sie sollen im Thopheth begraben werden, weil sonst kein Raum sein wird, zu begraben.
and you are to proclaim to them that this is what the LORD of Hosts says: I will shatter this nation and this city, like one shatters a potter’s jar that can never again be repaired. They will bury the dead in Topheth until there is no more room to bury them.
So will ich mit dieser Stätte, spricht der HErr, und ihren Einwohnern umgehen, dass diese Stadt werden soll gleich wie das Thopheth.
This is what I will do to this place and to its residents, declares the LORD. I will make this city like Topheth.
Dazu sollen ihre Häuser zu Jerusalem und die Häuser der Könige Judas ebenso unrein werden wie die Stätte Thopheth, ja, alle Häuser, wo sie auf den Dächern geräuchert haben allem Heer des Himmels und andern Göttern Trankopfer geopfert haben.
The houses of Jerusalem and the houses of the kings of Judah will be defiled like that place, Topheth—all the houses on whose rooftops they burned incense to all the host of heaven and poured out drink offerings to other gods.”
Und da Jeremia wieder vom Thopheth kam, dahin ihn der HErr gesandt hatte, zu weissagen, trat er in den Vorhof am Hause des HErrn und sprach zu allem Volk:
Then Jeremiah returned from Topheth, where the LORD had sent him to prophesy, and he stood in the courtyard of the house of the LORD and proclaimed to all the people,
So spricht der HErr Zebaoth, der Gott Israels: Siehe, ich will über diese Stadt und über alle ihre Städte all das Unglück kommen lassen, das ich wider sie geredet habe, darum dass sie halsstarrig sind und meine Worte nicht hören wollen.
“This is what the LORD of Hosts, the God of Israel, says: ‘Behold, I am about to bring on this city and on all the villages around it every disaster I have pronounced against them, because they have stiffened their necks so as not to heed My words.’”
