So spricht der HErr zu mir: Gehe hin und kaufe dir einen leinenen Gürtel und gürte damit deine Lenden und mache ihn nicht naß.
This is what the LORD said to me: “Go and buy yourself a linen loincloth and put it around your waist, but do not let it touch water.”
Und ich kaufte einen Gürtel nach dem Befehl des HErrn und gürtete ihn um meine Lenden.
So I bought a loincloth in accordance with the word of the LORD, and I put it around my waist.
Da geschah des HErrn Wort zum andernmal zu mir und sprach:
Then the word of the LORD came to me a second time:
Nimm den Gürtel, den du gekauft und um deine Lenden gegürtet hast, und mache dich auf und gehe hin an den Euphrat und verstecke ihn daselbst in einem Steinritz.
“Take the loincloth that you bought and are wearing, and go at once to Perath (note: Or possibly to the Euphrates; similarly in verses 5–7) and hide it there in a crevice of the rocks.”
Ich ging hin und versteckte ihn am Euphrat, wie mir der HErr geboten hatte.
So I went and hid it at Perath, as the LORD had commanded me.
Nach langer Zeit aber sprach der HErr zu mir: Mache dich auf und hole den Gürtel wieder, den ich dich hieß daselbst verstecken.
Many days later the LORD said to me, “Arise, go to Perath, and get the loincloth that I commanded you to hide there.”
Ich ging hin an den Euphrat und grub auf und nahm den Gürtel von dem Ort, dahin ich ihn versteckt hatte; und siehe, der Gürtel war verdorben, dass er nichts mehr taugte.
So I went to Perath and dug up the loincloth, and I took it from the place where I had hidden it. But now it was ruined—of no use at all.
So spricht der HErr: Eben also will ich auch verderben die große Hoffart Judas und Jerusalems.
“This is what the LORD says: In the same way I will ruin the pride of Judah and the great pride of Jerusalem.
Das böse Volk, das meine Worte nicht hören will, sondern gehen hin nach Gedünken ihres Herzens und folgen andern Göttern, dass sie ihnen dienen und sie anbeten: sie sollen werden wie der Gürtel, der nichts mehr taugt.
These evil people, who refuse to listen to My words, who follow the stubbornness of their own hearts, and who go after other gods to serve and worship them, they will be like this loincloth—of no use at all.
Denn gleichwie ein Mann den Gürtel um seine Lenden bindet, also habe ich, spricht der HErr, das ganze Haus Israel und das ganze Haus Juda um mich gegürtet, dass sie mein Volk sein sollten, mir zu einem Namen, zu Lob und Ehren; aber sie wollen nicht hören.
For just as a loincloth clings to a man’s waist, so I have made the whole house of Israel and the whole house of Judah cling to Me, declares the LORD, so that they might be My people for My renown and praise and glory. But they did not listen.
So sage ihnen nun dies Wort: So spricht der HErr, der Gott Israels: Es sollen alle Krüge mit Wein gefüllt werden. So werden sie zu dir sagen: Wer weiß das nicht, dass man alle Krüge mit Wein füllen soll?
Therefore you are to tell them that this is what the LORD, the God of Israel, says: ‘Every wineskin shall be filled with wine.’ And when they reply, ‘Don’t we surely know that every wineskin should be filled with wine?’
So sprich zu ihnen: So spricht der HErr: Siehe, ich will alle, die in diesem Lande wohnen, die Könige, die auf dem Stuhl Davids sitzen, die Priester und Propheten und alle Einwohner zu Jerusalem füllen, dass sie trunken werden sollen;
then you are to tell them that this is what the LORD says: ‘I am going to fill with drunkenness all who live in this land—the kings who sit on David’s throne, the priests, the prophets, and all the people of Jerusalem.
und will einen mit dem andern, die Väter samt den Kindern, verstreuen, spricht der HErr; und will weder schonen noch übersehen noch barmherzig sein über ihrem Verderben.
I will smash them against one another, fathers and sons alike, declares the LORD. I will allow no mercy or pity or compassion to keep Me from destroying them.’”
So höret nun und merket auf und trotzt nicht; denn der HErr hat's geredet.
Listen and give heed. Do not be arrogant, for the LORD has spoken.
Gebet dem HErrn, eurem Gott, die Ehre, ehe denn es finster werde, und ehe eure Füße sich an den dunklen Bergen stoßen, dass ihr des Lichts wartet, so er's doch gar finster und dunkel machen wird.
Give glory to the LORD your God before He brings darkness, before your feet stumble on the dusky mountains. You wait for light, but He turns it into deep gloom and thick darkness.
Wollt ihr aber solches nicht hören, so muss meine Seele heimlich weinen über solche Hoffart; meine Augen müssen von Tränen fließen, dass des HErrn Herde gefangen wird.
But if you do not listen, I will weep in secret because of your pride. My eyes will overflow with tears, because the LORD’s flock has been taken captive.
Sage dem König und der Königin: Setzt euch herunter; denn die Krone der Herrlichkeit ist euch von eurem Haupt gefallen.
Say to the king and to the queen mother: “Take a lowly seat, for your glorious crowns have fallen from your heads.”
Die Städte gegen Mittag sind verschlossen, und ist niemand, der sie auftue; das ganze Juda ist rein weggeführt.
The cities of the Negev have been shut tight, and no one can open them. All Judah has been carried into exile, wholly taken captive.
Hebt eure Augen auf und sehet, wie sie von Mitternacht daherkommen. Wo ist nun die Herde, so dir befohlen war, deine herrliche Herde?
Lift up your eyes and see those coming from the north. Where is the flock entrusted to you, the sheep that were your pride?
Was willst du sagen, wenn er dich so heimsuchen wird? Denn du hast sie so gewöhnt wider dich, dass sie Fürsten und Häupter sein wollen. Was gilt's? es wird dich Angst ankommen wie ein Weib in Kindsnöten.
What will you say when He sets over you close allies whom you yourself trained? Will not pangs of anguish grip you, as they do a woman in labor?
Und wenn du in deinem Herzen sagen willst: „Warum begegnet doch mir solches?” Um der Menge willen deiner Missetaten sind dir deine Säume aufgedeckt und ist deinen Fersen Gewalt geschehen.
And if you ask yourself, “Why has this happened to me?” It is because of the magnitude of your iniquity that your skirts have been stripped off and your body has been exposed (note: Literally and your heels have suffered violence).
Kann auch ein Mohr seine Haut wandeln oder ein Parder seine Flecken? So könnt ihr auch Gutes tun, die ihr des Bösen gewohnt seid.
Can the Ethiopian (note: Hebrew that Cushite; that is, probably a person from the upper Nile region) change his skin, or the leopard his spots? Neither are you able to do good—you who are accustomed to doing evil.
Darum will ich sie zerstreuen wie Stoppeln, die vor dem Winde aus der Wüste verweht werden.
“I will scatter you like chaff driven by the desert wind.
Das soll dein Lohn sein und dein Teil, den ich dir zugemessen habe, spricht der HErr. Darum dass du mein vergessen hast und verlässest dich auf Lügen,
This is your lot, the portion I have measured to you,” declares the LORD, “because you have forgotten Me and trusted in falsehood.
so will ich auch deine Säume hoch aufdecken, dass man deine Schande sehen muss.
So I will pull your skirts up over your face, that your shame may be seen.
Denn ich habe gesehen deine Ehebrecherei, dein Geilheit, deine freche Hurerei, ja, deine Greuel auf Hügeln und auf Äckern. Weh dir, Jerusalem! Wann wirst du doch endlich rein werden?
Your adulteries and lustful neighings, your shameless prostitution on the hills and in the fields—I have seen your detestable acts. Woe to you, O Jerusalem! How long will you remain unclean?”
