So höre nun, mein Knecht Jakob, und Israel, den ich erwählt habe!
But now listen, O Jacob My servant, Israel, whom I have chosen.
So spricht der HErr, der dich gemacht und bereitet hat und der dir beisteht von Mutterleibe an: Fürchte dich nicht, mein Knecht Jakob, und du, Jesurun, den ich erwählt habe!
This is the word of the LORD, your Maker, who formed you from the womb and who will help you: “Do not be afraid, O Jacob My servant, Jeshurun (note: Jeshurun means the upright one, a term of endearment for Israel.), whom I have chosen.
Denn ich will Wasser gießen auf das Durstige und Ströme auf das Dürre: ich will meinen Geist auf deinen Samen gießen und meinen Segen auf deine Nachkommen,
For I will pour water on the thirsty land, and currents on the dry ground. I will pour out My Spirit on your descendants, and My blessing on your offspring.
dass sie wachsen sollen wie Gras, wie Weiden an den Wasserbächen.
They will sprout among the grass like willows (note: Or poplars) by flowing streams.
Dieser wird sagen: Ich bin des HErrn! und jener wird genannt werden mit dem Namen Jakob; und dieser wird sich mit seiner Hand dem HErrn zuschreiben und wird mit dem Namen Israel genannt werden.
One will say, ‘I belong to the LORD,’ another will call himself by the name of Jacob, and still another will write on his hand, ‘The LORD’s,’ and will take the name of Israel.”
So spricht der HErr, der König Israels, und sein Erlöser, der HErr Zebaoth: Ich bin der Erste, und ich bin der Letzte, und außer mir ist kein Gott.
Thus says the LORD, the King and Redeemer of Israel, the LORD of Hosts: “I am the first and I am the last, and there is no God but Me.
Und wer ist mir gleich, der da rufe und verkündige und mir's zurichte, der ich von der Welt her die Völker setze? Lasset sie ihnen das Künftige und was kommen soll, verkündigen.
Who then is like Me? Let him say so! Let him declare his case before Me, since I established an ancient people. Let him foretell the things to come, and what is to take place.
Fürchtet euch nicht und erschrecket nicht. Habe ich's nicht vorlängst dich hören lassen und verkündigt? denn ihr seid meine Zeugen. Ist auch ein Gott außer mir? Es ist kein Hort, ich weiß ja keinen.
Do not tremble or fear. Have I not told you and declared it long ago? You are My witnesses! Is there any God but Me? There is no other Rock; I know not one.”
Die Götzenmacher sind allzumal eitel, und ihr Köstliches ist nichts nütze. Sie sind ihre Zeugen und sehen nichts; darum müssen sie zu Schanden werden.
All makers of idols are nothing, and the things they treasure are worthless. Their witnesses fail to see or comprehend, so they are put to shame.
Wer sind sie, die einen Gott machen und einen Götzen gießen, der nichts nütze ist?
Who fashions a god or casts an idol which profits him nothing?
Siehe, alle ihre Genossen werden zu Schanden; denn es sind Meister aus Menschen. Wenn sie gleich alle zusammentreten, müssen sie dennoch sich fürchten und zu Schanden werden.
Behold, all his companions will be put to shame, for the craftsmen themselves are only human. Let them all assemble and take their stand; they will all be brought to terror and shame.
Es schmiedet einer das Eisen in der Zange, arbeitet in der Glut und bereitet's mit Hämmern und arbeitet daran mit ganzer Kraft seines Arms, leidet auch Hunger, bis er nimmer kann, trinkt auch nicht Wasser, bis er matt wird.
The blacksmith takes a tool and labors over the coals; he fashions an idol with hammers and forges it with his strong arms. Yet he grows hungry and loses his strength; he fails to drink water and grows faint.
Der andere zimmert Holz, und misst es mit der Schnur und zeichnet's mit Rötelstein und behaut es und zirkelt's ab und macht's ein Mannsbild, wie einen schönen Menschen, der im Hause wohne.
The woodworker extends a measuring line; he marks it out with a stylus; he shapes it with chisels and outlines it with a compass. He fashions it in the likeness of man, like man in all his glory, that it may dwell in a shrine.
Er geht frisch daran unter den Bäumen im Walde, dass er Zedern abhaue und nehme Buchen und Eichen; ja, eine Zeder, die gepflanzt und die vom Regen erwachsen ist
He cuts down cedars or retrieves a cypress (note: Or pine or juniper or fir) or oak. He lets it grow strong among the trees of the forest. He plants a laurel, and the rain makes it grow.
und die den Leuten Brennholz gibt, davon man nimmt, dass man sich dabei wärme, und die man anzündet und Brot dabei bäckt. Davon macht er einen Gott und betet's an; er macht einen Götzen daraus und kniet davor nieder.
It serves as fuel for man. He takes some of it to warm himself, and he kindles a fire and bakes his bread. He also fashions it into a god and worships it; he makes an idol and bows down to it.
Die Hälfte verbrennt er im Feuer, über der Hälfte isst er Fleisch; er brät einen Braten und sättigt sich, wärmt sich auch und spricht: Hoja! ich bin warm geworden, ich sehe meine Lust am Feuer.
He burns half of it in the fire, and he roasts meat on that half. He eats the roast and is satisfied. Indeed, he warms himself and says, “Ah! I am warm; I see the fire.”
Aber das übrige macht er zum Gott, dass es ein Götze sei, davor er kniet und niederfällt und betet und spricht: Errette mich; denn du bist mein Gott!
From the rest he makes a god, his graven image. He bows down to it and worships; he prays to it and says, “Save me, for you are my god.”
Sie wissen nichts und verstehen nichts; denn sie sind verblendet, dass ihre Augen nicht sehen und ihre Herzen nicht merken können,
They do not comprehend or discern, for He has shut their eyes so they cannot see and closed their minds so they cannot understand.
und gehen nicht in ihr Herz; keine Vernunft noch Witz ist da, dass sie doch dächten: Ich habe auf den Kohlen Brot gebacken und Fleisch gebraten und gegessen, und sollte das übrige zum Greuel machen und sollte knieen vor einem Klotz?
And no one considers in his heart, no one has the knowledge or insight to say, “I burned half of it in the fire, and I baked bread on its coals; I roasted meat and I ate. Shall I make something detestable with the rest of it? Shall I bow down to a block of wood?”
Er hat Lust an Asche, sein getäuschtes Herz verführt ihn; und er wird seine Seele nicht erretten, dass er dächte: Ist das nicht Trügerei, was meine rechte Hand treibt?
He feeds on ashes. His deluded heart has led him astray, and he cannot deliver himself or say, “Is not this thing in my right hand a lie?”
Daran gedenke Jakob und Israel; denn du bist mein Knecht. Ich habe dich bereitet, dass du mein Knecht seist; Israel, vergiss mein nicht.
Remember these things, O Jacob, for you are My servant, O Israel. I have made you, and you are My servant; O Israel, I will never forget you.
Ich vertilge deine Missetaten wie eine Wolke und deine Sünden wie den Nebel. Kehre dich zu mir; denn ich erlöse dich.
I have blotted out your transgressions like a cloud, and your sins like a mist. Return to Me, for I have redeemed you.
Jauchzet ihr Himmel, denn der HErr hat's getan; rufe, du Erde hier unten; ihr Berge, frohlocket mit Jauchzen, der Wald und alle Bäume darin! denn der HErr hat Jakob erlöst und ist in Israel herrlich.
Sing for joy, O heavens, for the LORD has done this; shout aloud, O depths of the earth. Break forth in song, O mountains, you forests and all your trees. For the LORD has redeemed Jacob, and revealed His glory in Israel.
So spricht der HErr, dein Erlöser, der dich von Mutterleibe hat bereitet: Ich bin der HErr, der alles tut, der den Himmel ausbreitet allein und die Erde weit macht ohne Gehilfen;
Thus says the LORD, your Redeemer who formed you from the womb: “I am the LORD, who has made all things, who alone stretched out the heavens, who by Myself spread out the earth,
der die Zeichen der Wahrsager zunichte und die Weissager toll macht; der die Weisen zurückkehrt und ihre Kunst zur Torheit macht,
who foils the signs of false prophets and makes fools of diviners, who confounds the wise and turns their knowledge into nonsense,
bestätigt aber das Wort seines Knechtes und vollführt den Rat seiner Boten; der zu Jerusalem spricht: Sei bewohnt! und zu den Städten Judas: Seid gebaut! und ihre Verwüstung richte ich auf;
who confirms the message of His servant and fulfills the counsel of His messengers, who says of Jerusalem, ‘She will be inhabited,’ and of the cities of Judah, ‘They will be rebuilt, and I will restore their ruins,’
der ich spreche zu der Tiefe: Versiege! und zu den Strömen: Vertrocknet!
who says to the depths of the sea, ‘Be dry, and I will dry up your currents,’
der ich spreche von Kores: Der ist mein Hirte und soll all meinen Willen vollenden, dass man sage zu Jerusalem: Sei gebaut! und zum Tempel: Sei gegründet!
who says of Cyrus, ‘My shepherd will fulfill all that I desire,’ who says of Jerusalem, ‘She will be rebuilt,’ and of the temple, ‘Let its foundation be laid.’”
