Ephraïm m'a environné de mensonge, et la maison d'Israël de tromperie ; Juda aussi est sans frein vis-à-vis de Dieu, et vis-à-vis du Saint, qui est fidèle.
Ephraim (note: That is, the northern kingdom of Israel; also in verses 8 and 14) feeds on the wind and pursues the east wind all day long; he multiplies lies and violence; he makes a covenant with Assyria and sends olive oil to Egypt.
Ephraïm se repaît de vent, et il court après le vent d'orient. Tout le jour il accumule le mensonge et la violence ; ils concluent alliance avec Assur, et l'huile est transportée en Egypte.
The LORD has a charge to bring against Judah. He will punish Jacob (note: Jacob means he grasps the heel or he deceives.) according to his ways and repay him according to his deeds.

But by a prophet the LORD brought Israel out of Egypt, and by a prophet he was preserved.

Ephraim has provoked bitter anger, so his Lord will leave his bloodguilt upon him and repay him for his contempt.
