Au septième mois le vingt et un du mois, la parole de Yahweh se fit entendre par l'intermédiaire d'Aggée, le prophète, en ces termes :
On the twenty-first day of the seventh month, the word of the LORD came through Haggai the prophet, saying:
Parle donc à Zorobabel, fils de Salathiel, gouverneur de Juda, à Jésus, fils de Josédec, le grand prêtre, et au reste du peuple, en ces termes :
“Speak to Zerubbabel son of Shealtiel, governor of Judah, and to Joshua son of Jehozadak (note: Jehozadak is a variant of Jozadak; also in verse 4; see Ezra 3:2.), the high priest, and also to the remnant of the people. Ask them,
Quel est parmi vous le survivant qui a vu cette maison dans sa gloire première, et en quel état la voyez-vous maintenant ? Ne paraît-elle pas à vos yeux comme rien ?
‘Who is left among you who saw this house in its former glory? How does it look to you now? Does it not appear to you like nothing in comparison?’
Et maintenant, courage Zorobabel ! — oracle de Yahweh. Courage, Jésus fils de Josédec, grand prêtre ! Courage, tout le peuple du pays, — oracle de Yahweh, — et agissez ! Car je suis avec vous, — oracle de Yahweh des armées.
But now be strong, O Zerubbabel, declares the LORD. Be strong, O Joshua son of Jehozadak, the high priest. And be strong, all you people of the land, declares the LORD. Work! For I am with you, declares the LORD of Hosts.
Il y a l'engagement que j'ai pris avec vous, quand vous êtes sortis d'Égypte ; et mon Esprit demeure au milieu de vous : ne craignez rien !
This is the promise I made to you when you came out of Egypt. And My Spirit remains among you; do not be afraid.”
Car ainsi parle Yahweh des armées : Une fois encore, et ce sera dans peu, j'ébranlerai les cieux et la terre, la mer et le continent.
For this is what the LORD of Hosts says: “Once more, in a little while, I will shake the heavens and the earth (note: Cited in Hebrews 12:26), the sea and the dry land.
J'ébranlerai toutes les nations, et les trésors de toutes les nations viendront ; et je remplirai de gloire cette maison, dit Yahweh des armées.
I will shake all the nations, and they will come with all their treasures, and I will fill this house with glory, says the LORD of Hosts.
A moi l'argent, à moi l'or, — oracle de Yahweh des armées.
The silver is Mine, and the gold is Mine, declares the LORD of Hosts.
Grande sera la gloire de cette maison ; la dernière plus que la première ; et en ce lieu je mettrai la paix, — oracle de Yahweh des armées.
The latter glory of this house will be greater than the former, says the LORD of Hosts. And in this place I will provide peace, declares the LORD of Hosts.”
Le vingt-quatrième jour du neuvième mois, la deuxième année de Darius, la parole de Yahweh se fit entendre par l'intermédiaire d'Aggée, le prophète, en ces termes :
On the twenty-fourth day of the ninth month, in the second year of Darius, the word of the LORD came to Haggai the prophet, saying,
Ainsi parle Yahweh des armées : Demande aux prêtres une décision en ces termes :
“This is what the LORD of Hosts says: ‘Ask the priests for a ruling.
Voici qu'un homme porte dans le pan de son vêtement de la viande consacrée ; il touche de ce pan du pain, un mets bouilli, du vin, de l'huile, ou tout autre aliment : sera-ce consacré ? Les prêtres répondirent et dirent : Non.
If a man carries consecrated meat in the fold of his garment, and it touches bread, stew, wine, oil, or any other food, does that item become holy?’” “No,” replied the priests.
— Et Aggée dit : si un homme souillé par le contact d'un mort touche à toutes ces choses, seront-elles souillées ? Les prêtres répondirent et dirent : elles seront souillées.
So Haggai asked, “If one who is defiled by contact with a corpse touches any of these, does it become defiled?” “Yes, it becomes defiled,” the priests answered.
— Alors Aggée, reprenant la parole, dit : Tel est ce peuple, telle est cette nation devant moi, — oracle de Yahweh ; telles sont toutes les œuvres de leurs mains : ce qu'ils offrent là est souillé.
Then Haggai replied, “So it is with this people and this nation before Me, declares the LORD, and so it is with every work of their hands; whatever they offer there is defiled.
Et maintenant, portez votre attention de ce jour-ci en arrière, avant qu'on n'eut encore mis pierre sur pierre, au temple de Yahweh.
Now consider carefully from this day forward (note: Or backward; also in verse 18): Before one stone was placed on another in the temple of the LORD,
Alors, quand on venait à un tas de vingt mesures, il n'y en avait que dix ; quand on venait au pressoir pour y puiser cinquante mesures, il n'y en avait que vingt.
from that time, when one came expecting a heap of twenty ephahs of grain, there were but ten. When one came to the winepress to draw out fifty baths, there were but twenty.
Je vous ai frappés par la rouille, la nielle et la grêle, j'ai frappé tout le travail de vos mains ; et vous n'êtes pas revenus à moi, — oracle de Yahweh.
I struck you—all the work of your hands—with blight, mildew, and hail, but you did not turn to Me, declares the LORD.
Portez donc votre attention de ce jour-ci en arrière ; depuis le vingt-quatrième jour du neuvième mois jusqu'à partir du jour où a été fondé le temple de Yahweh, portez votre attention !
Consider carefully from this day forward—from the twenty-fourth day of the ninth month, the day the foundation of the LORD’s temple was laid—consider carefully:
La semence était-elle encore dans le grenier ? Même la vigne, le figuier, le grenadier et l'olivier n'ont rien produit : mais à partir de ce jour, je bénirai.
Is there still seed in the barn? The vine, the fig, the pomegranate, and the olive tree have not yet yielded fruit. But from this day on, I will bless you.”
La parole de Yahweh fut adressée une seconde fois à Aggée le vingt-quatrième jour du mois en ces termes :
For the second time that day, the twenty-fourth day of the month, the word of the LORD came to Haggai, saying,
Parle ainsi à Zorobabel, gouverneur de Juda : J'ébranlerai les cieux et la terre ;
“Tell Zerubbabel governor of Judah that I am about to shake the heavens and the earth:
je renverserai le trône des royaumes, je détruirai la puissance des royaumes des nations ; je renverserai les chars et ceux qui les montent ; les chevaux avec leurs cavaliers tomberont, par l'épée les uns des autres.
I will overturn royal thrones and destroy the power of the kingdoms of the nations. I will overturn chariots and their riders; horses and their riders will fall, each by the sword of his brother.
En ce jour-là, — oracle de Yahweh des armées, je te prendrai, Zorobabel, fils de Salathiel, mon serviteur, — oracle de Yahweh, et je ferai de toi comme un cachet ; car je t'ai élu, — oracle de Yahweh des armées.
On that day, declares the LORD of Hosts, I will take you, My servant, Zerubbabel son of Shealtiel, declares the LORD, and I will make you like My signet ring, for I have chosen you, declares the LORD of Hosts.”
