Nach diesen Geschichten versuchte Gott Abraham und sprach zu ihm: Abraham! Und er antwortete: Hier bin ich.
Some time later God tested Abraham and said to him, “Abraham!” “Here I am,” he answered.
Und er sprach: Nimm Isaak, deinen einzigen Sohn, den du liebhast, und gehe hin in das Land Morija und opfere ihn daselbst zum Brandopfer auf einem Berge, den ich dir sagen werde.
“Take your son,” God said, “your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah. Offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains, which I will show you.”
Da stand Abraham des Morgens früh auf und gürtete seinen Esel und nahm mit sich zwei Knechte und seinen Sohn Isaak und spaltete Holz zum Brandopfer, machte sich auf und ging an den Ort, davon ihm Gott gesagt hatte.
So Abraham got up early the next morning, saddled his donkey, and took along two of his servants and his son Isaac. He split the wood for a burnt offering and set out for the place God had designated.
Am dritten Tage hob Abraham seine Augen auf und sah die Stätte von ferne
On the third day Abraham looked up and saw the place in the distance.
und sprach zu seinen Knechten: Bleibet ihr hier mit dem Esel! Ich und der Knabe wollen dorthin gehen; und wenn wir angebetet haben, wollen wir wieder zu euch kommen.
“Stay here with the donkey,” Abraham told his servants. “The boy and I will go over there to worship, and then we will return to you.”
Und Abraham nahm das Holz zum Brandopfer und legte es auf seinen Sohn Isaak; er aber nahm das Feuer und Messer in seine Hand, und gingen die beiden miteinander.
Abraham took the wood for the burnt offering and placed it on his son Isaac. He himself carried the fire and the sacrificial knife, and the two of them walked on together.
Da sprach Isaak zu seinem Vater Abraham: Mein Vater! Abraham antwortete: Hier bin ich, mein Sohn. Und er sprach: Siehe, hier ist Feuer und Holz; wo ist aber das Schaf zum Brandopfer?
Then Isaac said to his father Abraham, “My father!” “Here I am, my son,” he replied. “The fire and the wood are here,” said Isaac, “but where is the lamb for the burnt offering?”
Abraham antwortete: Mein Sohn, Gott wird sich ersehen ein Schaf zum Brandopfer. Und gingen die beiden miteinander.
Abraham answered, “God Himself will provide the lamb for the burnt offering, my son.” And the two walked on together.
Und als sie kamen an die Stätte, die ihm Gott gesagt hatte, baute Abraham daselbst einen Altar und legte das Holz darauf und band seinen Sohn Isaak, legte ihn auf den Altar oben auf das Holz
When they arrived at the place God had designated, Abraham built the altar there and arranged the wood. He bound his son Isaac and placed him on the altar, atop the wood.
und reckte seine Hand aus und fasste das Messer, dass er seinen Sohn schlachtete.
Then Abraham reached out his hand and took the knife to slaughter his son.
Da rief ihm der Engel des HErrn vom Himmel und sprach: Abraham! Abraham! Er antwortete: Hier bin ich.
Just then the angel (note: Or Angel; also in verses 12 and 15) of the LORD called out to him from heaven, “Abraham, Abraham!” “Here I am,” he replied.
Er sprach: Lege deine Hand nicht an den Knaben und tue ihm nichts; denn nun weiß ich, dass du Gott fürchtest und hast deines einzigen Sohnes nicht verschont um meinetwillen.
“Do not lay a hand on the boy or do anything to him,” said the angel, “for now I know that you fear God, since you have not withheld your only son from me (note: Or from Me).”
Da hob Abraham sein Augen auf und sah einen Widder hinter sich in der Hecke mit seinen Hörnern hangen und ging hin und nahm den Widder und opferte ihn zum Brandopfer an seines Sohnes Statt.
Then Abraham looked up and saw behind him a ram (note: Most MT manuscripts; other Hebrew manuscripts, SP, LXX, and Syriac saw one ram) in a thicket, caught by its horns. So he went and took the ram and offered it as a burnt offering in place of his son.
Und Abraham hieß die Stätte: Der HErr siehet. Daher man noch heutigestages sagt: Auf dem Berge, da der HErr siehet.
And Abraham called that place The LORD Will Provide (note: Hebrew YHWH Yireh). So to this day it is said, “On the mountain of the LORD it will be provided.”
Und der Engel des HErrn rief Abraham abermals vom Himmel
And the angel of the LORD called to Abraham from heaven a second time,
und sprach: Ich habe bei mir selbst geschworen, spricht der HErr, weil du solches getan hast und hast deines einzigen Sohnes nicht verschont,
saying, “By Myself I have sworn, declares the LORD, that because you have done this and have not withheld your only son,
dass ich deinen Samen segnen und mehren will wie die Sterne am Himmel und wie den Sand am Ufer des Meeres; und dein Same soll besitzen die Tore seiner Feinde;
I will surely bless you, and I will multiply your descendants (note: Cited in Hebrews 6:14) like the stars in the sky and the sand on the seashore. Your descendants will possess the gates of their enemies.
und durch deinen Samen sollen alle Völker auf Erden gesegnet werden, darum dass du meiner Stimme gehorcht hast.
And through your offspring all nations of the earth will be blessed (note: Cited in Acts 3:25), because you have obeyed My voice.”
Also kehrte Abraham wieder zu seinen Knechten; und sie machten sich auf und zogen miteinander gen Beer-Seba; und er wohnte daselbst.
Abraham went back to his servants, and they got up and set out together for Beersheba. And Abraham settled in Beersheba.
Nach diesen Geschichten begab sich's, dass Abraham angesagt ward: Siehe, Milka hat auch Kinder geboren deinem Bruder Nahor,
Some time later, Abraham was told, “Milcah has also borne sons to your brother Nahor:
nämlich Uz, den Erstgeborenen, und Buz, seinen Bruder, und Kemuel, von dem die Syrer kommen,
Uz the firstborn, his brother Buz, Kemuel (the father of Aram),
und Chesed und Haso und Phildas und Jedlaph und Bethuel.
Chesed, Hazo, Pildash, Jidlaph, and Bethuel.”
Bethuel aber zeugte Rebekka. Diese acht gebar Milka dem Nahor, Abrahams Bruder.
And Bethuel became the father of Rebekah. Milcah bore these eight sons to Abraham’s brother Nahor.
Und sein Kebsweibeine aus dem Sklavenstand stammende Nebenfrau, mit Namen Rehuma, gebar auch, nämlich den Tebah, Gaham, Thahas und Maacha.
Moreover, Nahor’s concubine, whose name was Reumah, bore Tebah, Gaham, Tahash, and Maacah.
