La sixième année, au sixième mois, le cinquième jour du mois, comme j'étais assis dans ma maison, et que les anciens de Juda étaient assis devant moi, la main du Seigneur Yahweh tomba sur moi.
In the sixth year, on the fifth day of the sixth month, I was sitting in my house, and the elders of Judah were sitting before me; and there the hand of the Lord GOD fell upon me.
Et je vis ; et voici une figure qui avait l'aspect du feu ; depuis ce qui paraissait ses reins jusqu'en bas, c'était du feu ; et depuis ses reins jusqu'en haut, c'était comme l'aspect d'une clarté, comme l'aspect d'un métal.
Then I looked and saw a figure like that of a man. From His waist down His appearance was like fire, and from His waist up He was as bright as the gleam of amber (note: Or as glowing metal).
Et il étendit une forme de main, et il me saisit par les boucles de mes cheveux, et l'Esprit m'enleva entre la terre et le ciel ; et il m'amena à Jérusalem, en des visions divines, à l'entrée de la porte intérieure qui regarde au septentrion, où était placée l'idole de jalousie qui provoque la jalousie.
He stretched out what looked like a hand and took me by the hair of my head. Then the Spirit lifted me up between earth and heaven and carried me in visions of God to Jerusalem, to the entrance of the north gate of the inner court, where the idol that provokes jealousy was seated.
Et voici que là était la gloire du Dieu d'Israël selon l'aspect que j'avais vu dans la plaine.
And there I saw the glory of the God of Israel, like the vision I had seen in the plain.
Il me dit : " Fils de l'homme, lève donc tes yeux dans la direction du septentrion. " Et je levai mes yeux dans la direction du septentrion, et voici qu'au nord de la porte de l'autel, il y avait cette idole de jalousie, à l'entrée.
“Son of man,” He said to me, “now lift up your eyes to the north.” So I lifted up my eyes to the north, and in the entrance north of the Altar Gate (note: Or gate of the altar) I saw this idol of jealousy.
Et il me dit : " Fils de l'homme, vois-tu ce qu'ils font, les grandes abominations que la maison d'Israël commet ici, afin que je m'éloigne de mon sanctuaire. Et tu verras encore d'autres grandes abominations. "
“Son of man,” He said to me, “do you see what they are doing—the great abominations that the house of Israel is committing—to drive Me far from My sanctuary? Yet you will see even greater abominations.”
Et il me conduisit à l'entrée du parvis, et je vis : et voici qu'il y avait un trou dans le mur !
Then He brought me to the entrance to the court, and I looked and saw a hole in the wall.
et il me dit : " Fils de l'homme, perce donc la muraille. " Et je perçai la muraille, et voici qu'il y avait une porte.
“Son of man,” He told me, “dig through the wall.” So I dug through the wall and discovered a doorway.
Et il me dit : " Viens et vois les horribles abominations qu'ils commettent ici. "
Then He said to me, “Go in and see the wicked abominations they are committing here.”
Et je vins et je vis : et voici qu'il y avait toutes sortes de figures de reptiles et d'animaux immondes, et toutes les horreurs de la maison d'Israël dessinées sur la muraille tout autour.
So I went in and looked, and engraved all around the wall was every kind of crawling creature and detestable beast, along with all the idols of the house of Israel.
Et soixante-dix hommes d'entre les anciens de la maison d'Israël, parmi lesquels était Jézonias, fils de Saphan, se tenaient debout devant elles, et chacun avait à la main son encensoir, d'où s'élevait le parfum d'un nuage d'encens.
Before them stood seventy elders of the house of Israel, with Jaazaniah son of Shaphan standing among them. Each had a censer in his hand, and a fragrant cloud of incense was rising.
Et il me dit : " As-tu vu, fils de l'homme, ce que les anciens de la maison d'Israël font dans les ténèbres, chacun dans ses appartements couverts de figures, car ils disent : Yahweh ne nous voit pas ; Yahweh a abandonné le pays ! "
“Son of man,” He said to me, “do you see what the elders of the house of Israel are doing in the darkness, each at the shrine of his own idol? For they are saying, ‘The LORD does not see us; the LORD has forsaken the land.’”
Et il me dit : " Tu verras encore d'autres grandes abominations qu'ils commettent. "
Again, He told me, “You will see them committing even greater abominations.”
Et il me conduisit à l'entrée de la porte de la maison de Yahweh qui regarde le septentrion ; et voici que les femmes y étaient assises, pleurant le dieu Thammuz.
Then He brought me to the entrance of the north gate of the house of the LORD, and I saw women sitting there, weeping for Tammuz (note: Tammuz, meaning Sprout of Life, was a Sumerian god of fertility.).
Et il me dit : " As-tu vu, fils de l'homme ? Tu verras encore d'autres abominations plus grandes que celles-là. "
“Son of man,” He said to me, “do you see this? Yet you will see even greater abominations than these.”
Et il me conduisit alors dans le parvis intérieur de la maison de Yahweh ; et voici qu'à l'entrée de la maison de Yahweh, entre le portique et l'autel, il y avait environ vingt-cinq hommes, le dos tourné au temple de Yahweh, et le visage vers l'orient ; et ils se prosternaient à l'orient devant le soleil.
So He brought me to the inner court of the house of the LORD, and there at the entrance to the temple of the LORD, between the portico and the altar, were about twenty-five men with their backs to the temple of the LORD and their faces toward the east; and they were bowing to the east in worship of the sun.
Et il me dit : " As-tu vu, fils de l'homme ? Est-ce trop peu pour la maison de Juda de commettre les abominations qu'ils commettent ici ? Faut-il qu'ils remplissent encore le pays de violence, et qu'ils recommencent toujours à m'irriter ? Voici qu'ils portent le rameau à leur nez.
“Son of man,” He said to me, “do you see this? Is it not enough for the house of Judah to commit the abominations they are practicing here, that they must also fill the land with violence and continually provoke Me to anger? Look, they are even putting the branch to their nose!
Et moi aussi, j'agirai avec colère ; mon œil n'épargnera point, et je serai sans pitié ; ils crieront à haute voix à mes oreilles, et je ne les entendrai point. "
Therefore I will respond with wrath. I will not look on them with pity, nor will I spare them. Although they shout loudly in My ears, I will not listen to them.”
