Καὶ ταῦτα τὰ ὀνόματα τῶν φυλῶν ἀπὸ τῆς ἀρχῆς τῆς πρὸς βορρᾶν, κατὰ τὸ μέρος τῆς καταβάσεως τοῦ περισχίζοντος ἐπὶ τὴν εἵσοδον τῆς Ἡμὰθ αὐλῆς τοῦ Αἰλάμ, ὅριον Δαμασκοῦ πρὸς βορρᾶν κατὰ μέρος Ἰμὰθ αὐλῆς· καὶ ἔσται αὐτοῖς τὰ πρὸς ἀνατολὰς ἕως πρὸς θάλασσαν Δάν, μία.
“Now these are the names of the tribes: At the northern frontier, Dan will have one portion bordering the road of Hethlon to Lebo-hamath and running on to Hazar-enan on the border of Damascus with Hamath to the north, and extending from the east side to the west side.
καὶ ἀπὸ τῶν ὁρίων τοῦ Δὰν τὰ πρὸς ἀνατολὰς ἕως τῶν πρὸς θάλασσαν Ἀσὴρ, μία.
Asher will have one portion bordering the territory of Dan from east to west.
καὶ ἀπὸ τῶν ὁρίων Ἀσήρ, ἀπὸ τῶν πρὸς ἀνατολὰς ἕως τῶν πρὸς θάλασσαν Νεφθαλείμ, μία.
Naphtali will have one portion bordering the territory of Asher from east to west.
καὶ ἀπὸ τῶν ὁρίων Νεφθαλεί, ἀπʼ ἀνατολῶν ἕως τῶν πρὸς θάλασσαν Μανασσή, μία.
Manasseh will have one portion bordering the territory of Naphtali from east to west.
καὶ ἀπὸ τῶν ὁρίων Μανασσή, ἀπὸ τῶν πρὸς ἀνατολὰς ἕως τῶν πρὸς θάλασσαν Ἐφράιμ, μία.
Ephraim will have one portion bordering the territory of Manasseh from east to west.
καὶ ἀπὸ τῶν ὁρίων Ἐφράιμ, ἀπὸ τῶν πρὸς ἀνατολὰς ἕως τῶν πρὸς θάλασσαν Ῥουβὴν, μία.
Reuben will have one portion bordering the territory of Ephraim from east to west.
καὶ ἀπὸ τῶν ὁρίων Ῥουβὴν, ἀπὸ τῶν πρὸς ἀνατολὰς ἕως τῶν πρὸς θάλασσαν Ἰούδα, μία.
Judah will have one portion bordering the territory of Reuben from east to west.
Καὶ ἀπὸ τῶν ὁρίων Ἰούδα ἀπὸ τῶν πρὸς ἀνατολὰς μενεῖ, ἔσται ἡ ἀπαρχὴ τοῦ ἀφορισμοῦ πέντε καὶ εἴκοσι χιλιάδες εἶρος, καὶ μῆκος καθὼς μία τῶν μερίδων ἀπὸ τῶν πρὸς ἀνατολὰς καὶ ἕως τῶν πρὸς θάλασσαν, καὶ ἔσται τὸ ἅγιον ἐν μέσῳ αὐτῶν·
Bordering the territory of Judah, from east to west, will be the portion you are to set apart. It will be 25,000 cubits wide (note: 25,000 (long) cubits is approximately 8.3 miles or 13.3 kilometers; also in verses 9, 10, 13, 15, 20, and 21.), and the length of a tribal portion from east to west. In the center will be the sanctuary.
ἀπαρχὴν ἣν ἀφοριοῦσι τῷ κυρίῳ, μῆκος πέντε καὶ εἵκοσι χιλιάδες, καὶ εὗρος εἵκοσι καὶ πέντε χιλιάδες.
The special portion you set apart to the LORD shall be 25,000 cubits long and 10,000 cubits wide (note: 10,000 (long) cubits is approximately 3.3 miles or 5.3 kilometers; also in verses 10, 13, and 18.).
τούτων ἔσται ἡ ἀπαρχὴ τῶν ἁγίων τοῖς ἱερεῖῦσιν, πρὸς βορρᾶν πέντε καὶ εἵκοσι χιλιάδες, καὶ πρὸς θάλασσαν δέκα χιλιάδες, καὶ πρὸς νότον εἴκοσι καὶ πέντε χιλιάδες· καὶ τὸ ὄρος τῶν ἁγίων ἔσται ἐν μέσῳ αὐτοῦ·
This will be the holy portion for the priests. It will be 25,000 cubits long on the north side, 10,000 cubits wide on the west side, 10,000 cubits wide on the east side, and 25,000 cubits long on the south side. In the center will be the sanctuary of the LORD.
τοῖς ἱερεῦσι τοῖς ἡγιασμένοις υἱοῖς Σαδδούκ, τοῖς φυλάσσουσι τὰς φυλακὰς τοῦ οἴκου, οἵτινες οὐκ ἐπλανήθησαν ἐν τῇ πλανήσει υἱῶν Ἰσραὴλ ὃν τρόπον ἐπλανήθησαν οἱ Λευεῖται.
It will be for the consecrated priests, the descendants of Zadok, who kept My charge and did not go astray as the Levites did when the Israelites went astray.
καὶ ἔσται αὐτοῖς ἡ ἀπαρχὴ δεδομένη ἐκ τῶν ἀπαρχῶν τῆς γῆς, ἄγιον ἁγίων ἀπὸ τῶν ὁρίων τῶν Λευειτῶν.
It will be a special portion for them set apart from the land, a most holy portion adjacent to the territory of the Levites.
τοῖς δὲ Λευείταις τὰ ἐχόμενα τῶν ὁρίων τῶν ἱερέων, μῆκος πέντε καὶ εἴκοσι χιλιάδες, καὶ εὖρος δέκα χιλιάδες· πᾶν τὸ μῆκος πέντε καὶ εἵκοσι χιλιάδες, καὶ εὖρος εἵκοσι χιλιάδες.
Bordering the territory of the priests, the Levites shall have an area 25,000 cubits long and 10,000 cubits wide. The whole length will be 25,000 cubits, and the width 10,000 cubits.
οὐ πραθήσεται ἐξ αὐτοῦ οὐδὲ καταμετρηθήσεται, οὐδὲ ἀφαιρεθήσεται τὰ πρωτογενήματα τῆς γῆς, ὅτι ἅγιόν ἐστιν τῷ κυρίῳ.
They must not sell or exchange any of it, and they must not transfer this best part of the land, for it is holy to the LORD.
τὰς δὲ πέντε χιλιάδας τὰς περισσὰς ἐπὶ τῷ πλάτει ἐπὶ ταῖς πέντε καὶ εἵκοσι χιλιάσιν, προτείχισμα ἔσται τῇ πόλει εἰς τὴν κατοικίαν καὶ εἰς διάστημα αὐτοῦ· καὶ ἔσται ἡ πόλις ἐν μέσῳ αὐτοῦ.
The remaining area, 5,000 cubits wide and 25,000 cubits long, will be for common use by the city, for houses, and for pastureland. The city will be in the center of it
καὶ ταῦτα τὰ μέτρα αὐτῆς· ἀπὸ τῶν πρὸς βορρᾶν πεντακόσιοι καὶ τετρακισχίλιοι, καὶ ἀπὸ τῶν πρὸς νότον πεντακόσιοι καὶ τέσσαρες χιλιάδες, καὶ ἀπὸ τῶν πρὸς ἀνατολὰς πεντακόσιοι καὶ τέσσαρες χιλιάδες, καὶ ἀπὸ τῶν πρὸς θάλασσαν τετρακισχιλίους πεντακοσίους.
and will have these measurements: 4,500 cubits on the north side, 4,500 cubits on the south side, 4,500 cubits on the east side, and 4,500 cubits on the west side.
καὶ ἔσται διάστημα τῇ πόλει πρὸς βορρᾶν διακόσιοι πεντήκοντα, καὶ πρὸς νότον διακόσιοι καὶ πεντήκοντα, καὶ πρὸς ἀνατολὰς διακόσιοι πεντήκοντα, καὶ πρὸς θάλασσαν διακόσιοι πεντήκοντα.
The pastureland of the city will extend 250 cubits to the north, 250 cubits to the south, 250 cubits to the east, and 250 cubits to the west.
καὶ τὸ περισσὸν τοῦ μήκους τὸ ἐχόμενον τῶν ἀπαρχῶν τῶν ἁγίων δέκα χιλιάδες πρὸς ἀνατολάς, καὶ δέκα χιλιάδες πρὸς θάλασσαν· καὶ ἔσονται αἱ ἀπαρχαὶ τοῦ ἁγίου, καὶ ἔσται τὰ γενήματα αὐτῆς εἰς ἄρτους τοῖς ἐργαζομένοις τὴν πόλιν.
The remainder of the length bordering the holy portion and running adjacent to it will be 10,000 cubits on the east side and 10,000 cubits on the west side. Its produce will supply food for the workers of the city.
οἱ δὲ ἐργαζόμενοι τὴν πόλιν ἐργῶνται αὐτὴν ἐκ πασῶν τῶν φυλῶν τοῦ Ἰσραήλ.
The workers of the city who cultivate it will come from all the tribes of Israel.
πᾶσα ἡ ἀπαρχὴ πέντε καὶ εἵκοσι χιλιάδες ἐπὶ πέντε καὶ εἵκοσι χιλιάδας· τετράγωνον ἀφοριεῖτε αὐτοῦ τὴν ἀρχὴν τοῦ ἁγίου, ἀπὸ τῆς κατασχέσεως τῆς πόλεως.
The entire portion will be a square, 25,000 cubits by 25,000 cubits. You are to set apart the holy portion, along with the city property.
τὸ δὲ περισσὸν τῷ ἀφηγουμένῳ ἐκ τούτου καὶ ἐκ τούτου ἀπὸ τῶν ἀπαρχῶν τοῦ ἁγίου, καὶ εἰς τὴν κατάσχεσιν τῆς πόλεως ἐπὶ πέντε καὶ εἴκοσι χιλιάδας μῆκος, ἕως τῶν ὁρίων τῶν πρὸς ἀνατολὰς καὶ πρὸς θάλασσαν, ἐπὶ πέντε καὶ εἵκοσι χιλιάδας ἕως τῶν ὁρίων τῶν πρὸς θάλασσαν, ἐχόμενα τῶν μερίδων τοῦ ἀφηγουμένου· καὶ ἔσται ἡ ἀπαρχὴ τῶν ἁγίων καὶ τὸ ἁγίασμα τοῦ οἴκου ἐν μέσῳ αὐτῆς.
The remaining area on both sides of the holy portion and of the property of the city will belong to the prince. He will own the land adjacent to the tribal portions, extending eastward from the 25,000 cubits of the holy district toward the eastern border, and westward from the 25,000 cubits to the western border. And in the center of them will be the holy portion and the sanctuary of the temple.
καὶ παρὰ τῶν Λευειτῶν ἀπὸ τῆς κατασχέσεως τῆς πόλεως ἐν μέσῳ τῶν ἀφηγουμένων ἔσται ἀνὰ μέσον τῶν ὁρίων Ἰούδα καὶ ἀνὰ μέσον τῶν ὁρίων Βενιαμείν· τῶν ἀφηγουμένων ἔσται.
So the Levitical property and the city property will lie in the center of the area belonging to the prince—the area between the borders of Judah and Benjamin.
Καὶ τὸ περισσὸν τῶν φυλῶν, ἀπὸ τῶν πρὸς ἀνατολὰς ἕως τῶν πρὸς θάλασσον Βενιαμείν, μία.
As for the rest of the tribes: Benjamin will have one portion extending from the east side to the west side.
καὶ ἀπὸ τῶν ὁρίων τῶν Βενιαμείν, ἀπὸ τῶν πρὸς ἀνατολὰς ἕως τῶν πρὸς θάλασσαν Συμεών, μία.
Simeon will have one portion bordering the territory of Benjamin from east to west.
καὶ ἀπὸ τῶν ὁρίων τῶν Συμεών, ἀπὸ τῶν πρὸς ἀνατολὰς ἕως τῶν πρὸς θάλασσαν Ἰσσαχάρ, μία.
Issachar will have one portion bordering the territory of Simeon from east to west.
καὶ ἀπὸ τῶν ὁρίων τῶν Ἰσσαχὰρ, ἀπὸ τῶν πρὸς ἀνατολὰς ἕως τῶν πρὸς θάλασσαν Ζαβουλών, μία.
Zebulun will have one portion bordering the territory of Issachar from east to west.
καὶ ἀπὸ τῶν ὁρίων τῶν Ζαβουλών, ἀπὸ τῶν πρὸς ἀνατολὰς ἕως τῶν πρὸς θάλασσαν Γάδ, μία.
And Gad will have one portion bordering the territory of Zebulun from east to west.
καὶ ἀπὸ τῶν ὁρίων τῶν Γὰδ ἕως τῶν πρὸς λίβα, καὶ ἔσται τὰ ὄρια αὐτοῦ ἀπὸ Θαιμὰν καὶ ὕδατος Βαριμὼθ Καδής, κληρονομίας. ἕως τῆς θαλάσσης τῆς μεγάλης.
The southern border of Gad will run from Tamar to the waters of Meribath-kadesh, then along the Brook of Egypt and out to the Great Sea (note: That is, the Mediterranean Sea).
αὕτη ἡ γῆ ἣν βαλεῖτε ἐν κλήρῳ ταῖς φυλαῖς Ἰσραήλ, καὶ οὗτοι οἱ διαμερισμοὶ αὐτῶν, λέγει Κύριος θεός.
This is the land you are to allot as an inheritance to the tribes of Israel, and these will be their portions,” declares the Lord GOD.
καὶ αὗται αἱ διεκβολαὶ τῆς πόλεως αἱ πρὸς βορρᾶν, τετρακισχίλιοι καὶ πεντακόσιοι μέτρῳ.
“These will be the exits of the city: Beginning on the north side, which will be 4,500 cubits long,
καὶ αἱ πύλαι τῆς πόλεως ἐπʼ ὀνόμασιν φυλῶν τοῦ Ἰσραήλ· πύλαι τρεῖς πρὸς βορρᾶν, πύλη Ῥουβὴν μία, καὶ πύλη Ἰούδα μία, καὶ πύλη Λευεὶ μία.
the gates of the city will be named after the tribes of Israel. On the north side there will be three gates: the gate of Reuben, the gate of Judah, and the gate of Levi.
καὶ τὰ πρὸς ἀνατολὰς τετρακισχίλιοι καὶ πεντακόσιοι· καὶ πύλαι τρεῖς, πύλη Ἰωσήφ μία, καὶ πύλη Βενιαμεὶν μία, καὶ πύλη Δὰν μία.
On the east side, which will be 4,500 cubits long, there will be three gates: the gate of Joseph, the gate of Benjamin, and the gate of Dan.
καὶ τὰ πρὸς νότον τετρακισχίλιοι καὶ πεντακόσιοι μέτρῳ· καὶ πύλαι τρεῖς, πύλη Συμεὼν μία, καὶ πύλη Ἰσσαχὰρ μία, καὶ πύλη Σαβουλὼν μία.
On the south side, which will be 4,500 cubits long, there will be three gates: the gate of Simeon, the gate of Issachar, and the gate of Zebulun.
καὶ τὰ πρὸς θάλασσαν τετρακισχίλιοι καὶ πεντακόσιοι μέτρῳ· καὶ πύλαι τρεῖς, πύλη Γὰδ μία, καὶ πύλη Ἀσὴρ μία, καὶ πύλη Νεφθαλεὶμ μία.
And on the west side, which will be 4,500 cubits long, there will be three gates: the gate of Gad, the gate of Asher, and the gate of Naphtali.
κύκλωμα, δέκα καὶ ὀκτὼ χιλιάδες. καὶ τὸ ὄνομα τῆς πόλεως, ἀφʼ ἧς ἂν ἡμέρας γένηται, ἔσται τὸ ὄνομα αὐτῆς.
The perimeter of the city will be 18,000 cubits, and from that day on the name of the city will be: THE LORD IS THERE.”
