Καὶ σύ, υἱὲ ἀνθρώπου, προφήτευσον ἐπὶ Γὼγ καὶ εἰπόν Τάδε λέγει Κύριος Ἰδοὺ ἐγὼ ἐπὶ σὲ Γώγ, ἄρχοντα Ῥώς, Μέσοχ, καὶ Θοβέλ·
“As for you, O son of man, prophesy against Gog and declare that this is what the Lord GOD says: Behold, I am against you, O Gog, chief prince of Meshech and Tubal (note: Or Gog, prince of Rosh, Meshech, and Tubal).
καὶ συνάξω σε καὶ καθοδηγήσω σε καὶ ἀναβιβῶ σε ἐπʼ ἐσχάτου τοῦ βορρᾶ, καὶ ἀνάξω σε ἐπὶ τὰ ὄρη τοῦ Ἰσραήλ.
I will turn you around, drive you along, bring you up from the far north, and send you against the mountains of Israel.
³καὶ ἀπολῶ τὸ τόξον σου ἀπὸ τῆς χειρός σου τῆς ἀριστερᾶς καὶ τὰ τοξεύματά σου ἀπὸ τῆς χειρός σου τῆς δεξιᾶς, (⁴) καὶ καταβαλῶ σε
Then I will strike the bow from your left hand and dash down the arrows from your right hand.
ἐπὶ τὰ ὄρη τὰ Ἰσραήλ, καὶ πεσῇ σὺ καὶ πάντες οἱ περὶ σέ, καὶ τὰ ἔθνη τὰ μετὰ σοῦ δοθήσονται εἰς πλήθη ὀρνέων· παντὶ πετεινῷ καὶ πᾶσι τοῖς θηρίοις τοῦ πεδίου δέδωκά σε καταβρωθῆναι.
On the mountains of Israel you will fall—you and all your troops and the nations with you. I will give you as food to every kind of ravenous bird and wild beast.
ἐπὶ προσώπου τοῦ πεδίου πεσῇ, ὅτι ἐγὼ ἐλάλησα, λέγει Κύριος.
You will fall in the open field, for I have spoken, declares the Lord GOD.
καὶ ἀποστελῶ πῦρ ἐπὶ Γώγ, καὶ κατοικηθήσονται αἱ νῆσοι ἐπʼ εἰρήνης · καὶ γνώσονται ὅτι ἐγώ εἰμι Κύριος.
I will send fire on Magog and on those who dwell securely in the coastlands, and they will know that I am the LORD.
καὶ ὄνομά μου τὸ ἅγιον γνωσθήσεται ἐν μέσῳ λαοῦ μου Ἰσραήλ, καὶ οὐ βεβηλωθήσεται τὸ ὄνομά μου τὸ ἅγιον οὐκέτι· καὶ γνώσονται τὰ ἔθνη ὅτι ἐγω εἰμι Κύριος, ἄγιος ἐν Ἰσραήλ.
So I will make My holy name known among My people Israel and will no longer allow it to be profaned. Then the nations will know that I am the LORD, the Holy One in Israel.
ἰδοὺ ἥκει, καὶ γνώσῃ ὅτι ἔσται, λέγει κύριος Κύριος· αὕτη ἐστὶν ἡ ἡμέρα ἐν ᾗ ἐλάλησα.
Yes, it is coming, and it will surely happen, declares the Lord GOD. This is the day of which I have spoken.
καὶ ἐξελεύσονται οἱ κατοικοῦντες τὰς πόλεις Ἰσραὴλ καὶ καύσουσιν ἐν τοῖς ὅπλοις, πέλταις καὶ κοντοῖς καὶ τόξοις καὶ τοξεύμασι καὶ ῥάβδοις χειρῶν καὶ λόγχαις, καὶ καύσουσιν ἐν αὐτοῖς π ῦρ ἑπτὰ ἔτη·
Then those who dwell in the cities of Israel will go out, kindle fires, and burn up the weapons—the bucklers and shields, the bows and arrows, the clubs and spears. For seven years they will use them for fuel.
καὶ οὐ μὴ λάβωσιν ξύλα ἐκ τοῦ πεδίου οὐδέ μὴ κόψουσιν ἐκ τῶν δρυμῶν, ἀλλʼ ἢ τὰ ὅπλα κατακαύσουσιν πυρί· καὶ προνομεύσουσιν τοὺς προνομεύσαντας αὐτούς, καὶ σκυλεύσουσιν τοὺς σκυλεύσαντας αὐτούς, λέγει Κύριος.
They will not gather wood from the countryside or cut it from the forests, for they will use the weapons for fuel. They will loot those who looted them and plunder those who plundered them, declares the Lord GOD.
Καὶ ἔσται ἐν τῇ ἡμέρᾳ ἐκείνῃ δώσω τῷ Γὼγ τόπον ὀνομαστόν, μνημεῖον ἐν Ἰσραήλ, τὸ πολυάνδριον τῶν ἐπελθόντων πρὸς τῇ θαλάσσῃ, καὶ περιοικοδομήσουσιν τὸ περιστόμιον τῆς φάραγγος·
And on that day I will give Gog a burial place in Israel, the Valley of the Travelers, east of the Sea (note: That is, the Dead Sea). It will block those who travel through, because Gog and all his hordes will be buried there. So it will be called the Valley of Hamon-gog (note: Hamon-gog means multitude of Gog.).
καὶ κατορύξουσιν ἐκεῖ τὸν Γ ὼγ καὶ πᾶν τὸ πλῆθος αὐτοῦ, καὶ κληθήσεται Τὸ τέ, τὸ πολυάνδριον τοῦ Γώγ.
For seven months the house of Israel will be burying them in order to cleanse the land.
καὶ κατορύξουσιν αὐτοὺς οἶκος Ἰσραὴλ ἵνα καθαρισθῇ ἡ γῆ ἐν ἑπταμήνῳ, (¹³) καὶ κατορύξουσιν αὐτοὺς πᾶς ὁ λαὸς τῆς γῆς, καὶ ἔσται αὐτοῖς ὀνομαστὸν ᾗ ἡμέρᾳ ἐδοξάσθην, λέγει Κύριος.
All the people of the land will bury them, and it will bring them renown on the day I display My glory (note: Or and the day I display My glory will be a day of renown), declares the Lord GOD.
καὶ ἄνδρας διὰ παντὸς διαστελοῦσιν ἐπιπορευομένους τὴν γῆν θάψαι τοὺς καταλελιμμένους ἐπὶ προσωώπου τῆς γῆς, καθαρίσαι αὐτὴν μετὰ τὴν ἑπτάμηνον, καὶ ἐκζητήσουσιν.
And men will be employed to continually pass through the land to cleanse it by burying the invaders who remain on the ground. At the end of the seven months they will begin their search.
καὶ πᾶς ὁ διαπορευόμενος τὴν γῆν καὶ ἰδὼν ὀστοῦν ἀνθρώπου οἰκοδομήσει παρʼ αὐτὸ σημεῖον, ἕως ὅτου θάψωσιν αὐτὸ οἱ θάπτοντες εἰς τὸ γαὶ τὸ πολυάνδριον τοῦ Γώγ·
As they pass through the land, anyone who sees a human bone will set up a pillar next to it, until the gravediggers have buried it in the Valley of Hamon-gog.
καὶ γὰρ τὸ ὄνομα τῆς πόλεως Πολυάνδριον· καὶ καθαρισθήσεται ἡ γῆ.
(Even the city will be named Hamonah (note: Hamonah means multitude or horde.).) And so they will cleanse the land.
καὶ σύ, υἱὲ ἀνθρώπου, εἰπόν Τάδε λέγει Κύριος Εἰπὸν παντὶ ὀρνέῳ πετεινῷ καὶ πρὸς πάντα τὰ θηρία τοῦ πεδίου Συνάχθητε καὶ ἔρχεσθε, συνάχθητε ἀπὸ πάντων τῶν περικύκλῳ ἐπὶ τὴν θυσίαν μου, ἣν τέθυκα ὑμῖν θυσίαν μεγάλην ἐπὶ τὰ ὄρη Ἰσραήλ, καὶ φάγεσθε κρέα καὶ πίεσθε αἷμα.
And as for you, son of man, this is what the Lord GOD says: Call out to every kind of bird and to every beast of the field: ‘Assemble and come together from all around to the sacrificial feast that I am preparing for you, a great feast on the mountains of Israel. There you will eat flesh and drink blood.
κρέα γιγάντων φάγεσθε, καὶ αἶμα ἀρχόντων τῆς γῆς πίεσθε, κριοὺς καὶ μόσχους καὶ τράγους, καὶ οἱ μόσχοι ἐστεατωμένοι πάντες.
You will eat the flesh of the mighty and drink the blood of the princes of the earth as though they were rams, lambs, goats, and bulls—all the fattened animals of Bashan.
καὶ φάγεσθε στέαρ εἰς πλησμονήν, καὶ πίεσθε αἷμα εἰς μέθην ἀπὸ τῆς θυσίας μου ἧς ἔθυσα ὑμῖν.
At the sacrifice I am preparing, you will eat fat until you are gorged and drink blood until you are drunk.
καὶ ἐμπλησθήσεσθε ἐπὶ τῆς τραπέζης μου ἵππον καὶ ἀναβάτην καὶ γίγαντα καὶ πάντα ἄνδρα πολεμιστήν, λέγει Κύριος.
And at My table you will eat your fill of horses and riders, of mighty men and warriors of every kind,’ declares the Lord GOD.
καὶ δώσω τὴν δόξαν μου ἐν ὑμῖν, καὶ ὄψονται πάντα τὰ ἔθνη τὴν κρίσιν μου ἣν ἐποίησα καὶ τὴν χεῖρά μου ἣν ἐπήγαγον ἐπʼ αὐτούς.
I will display My glory among the nations, and all the nations will see the judgment that I execute and the hand that I lay upon them.
καὶ γνώσονται οἶκος Ἰσραὴλ ὅτι ἐγώ εἰμι Κύριος ὁ θεὸς αὐτῶν ἀπὸ τῆς ἡμέρας ταύτης καὶ ἐπέκεινα.
From that day forward the house of Israel will know that I am the LORD their God.
καὶ γνώσονται πάντα τὰ ἔθνη ὅτι διὰ τὰς ἁμαρτίας αὐτῶν ἠχμαλωτεύθησαν οἶκος Ἰσραήλ, ἀνθʼ ὧν ἠθέτησαν εἰς ἐμέ, καὶ ἀπέστρεψα τὸ πρόσωπόν μου ἀπʼ αὐτῶν καὶ παρέδωκα αὐτοὺς εἰς χεῖρας τῶν ἐχθρῶν αὐτῶν, καὶ ἔπεσαν πάντες μαχαίρᾳ.
And the nations will know that the house of Israel went into exile for their iniquity, because they were unfaithful to Me. So I hid My face from them and delivered them into the hands of their enemies, so that they all fell by the sword.
κατὰ τὰς ἀκαθαρσίας αὐτῶν καὶ κατὰ τὰ ἀνομήματα αὐτῶν ἐποίησα αὐτοῖς, καὶ ἀπέστρεψα τὸ πρόσωπόν μου ἀπʼ αὐτῶν.
I dealt with them according to their uncleanness and transgressions, and I hid My face from them.
Διὰ τοῦτο τάδε λέγει κύριος Κύριος Νῦν ἀποστρέψω αἰχμαλωσίαν ἐν Ἰακώβ, καὶ ἐλεήσω τὸν οἶκον Ἰσραήλ, καὶ ζηλώσω διὰ τὸ ὄνομα τὸ ἅγιόν μου.
Therefore this is what the Lord GOD says: Now I will restore Jacob from captivity (note: Or restore the fortunes of Jacob) and will have compassion on the whole house of Israel, and I will be jealous for My holy name.
καὶ λήμψονται τὴν ἀτιμίαν ἑαυτῶν καὶ τὴν ἀδικίαν ἣν ἠδίκησαν, ἐν τῷ κατοικισθῆναι αὐτοὺς ἐπὶ τὴν γῆν αὐτῶν ἐπʼ εἰρήνης, καὶ οὐκ ἔσται ὁ ἐκφοβῶν,
They will forget (note: A few Hebrew manuscripts; MT They will bear) their disgrace and all the treachery they committed against Me, when they dwell securely in their land, with no one to frighten them.
ἐν τῷ ἀποστρέψαι με αὐτοὺς ἐκ τῶν ἐθνῶν καὶ συναγαγεῖν με αὐτοὺς ἐκ τῶν χωρῶν τῶν ἐθνῶν, καὶ ἁγιασθήσομαι ἐν αὐτοῖς ἐνώπιον τῶν ἐθνῶν·
When I bring them back from the peoples and gather them out of the lands of their enemies, I will show My holiness in them in the sight of many nations.
καὶ γνωώσονται ὅτι ἐγώ εἰμι Κύριος ὁ θεὸς αὐτῶν, ἐν τῷ ἐπιφανῆναί με αὐτοῖς ἐν τοῖς ἔθνεσιν.
Then they will know that I am the LORD their God, when I regather them to their own land, not leaving any of them behind after their exile among the nations.
καὶ οὐκ ἀποστρέψω οὐκέτι τὸ πρόσωπόν μου ἀπʼ αὐτῶν, ἀνθʼ οὗ ἐξέχεα τὸν θυμόν μου ἐπὶ τὸν οἶκον Ἰσραήλ, λέγει κύριος Κύριος.
And I will no longer hide My face from them, for I will pour out My Spirit on the house of Israel, declares the Lord GOD.”
