Der HErr sprach zu Mose: Siehe, ich habe dich zu einem Gott gesetzt über Pharao, und Aaron, dein Bruder, soll dein Prophet sein.
The LORD answered Moses, “See, I have made you like God to Pharaoh, and your brother Aaron will be your prophet.
Du sollst reden alles, was ich dir gebieten werde; aber Aaron, dein Bruder, soll's vor Pharao reden, dass er die Kinder Israel aus seinem Lande lasse.
You are to speak all that I command you, and your brother Aaron is to tell Pharaoh to let the Israelites go out of his land.
Aber ich will Pharaos Herz verhärten, dass ich meiner Zeichen und Wunder viel tue in Ägyptenland.
But I will harden Pharaoh’s heart, and though I will multiply My signs and wonders in the land of Egypt,
Und Pharao wird euch nicht hören, auf dass ich meine Hand in Ägypten beweise und führe mein Heer, mein Volk, die Kinder Israel, aus Ägyptenland durch große Gerichte.
Pharaoh will not listen to you. Then I will lay My hand on Egypt, and by mighty acts of judgment I will bring the divisions of My people the Israelites out of the land of Egypt.
Und die Ägypter sollen's innewerden, dass ich der HErr bin, wenn ich nun meine Hand über Ägypten ausstrecken und die Kinder Israel von ihnen wegführen werde.
And the Egyptians will know that I am the LORD, when I stretch out My hand against Egypt and bring the Israelites out from among them.”
Mose und Aaron taten, wie ihnen der HErr geboten hatte.
So Moses and Aaron did just as the LORD had commanded them.
Und Mose war achtzig Jahre alt und Aaron dreiundachtzig Jahre alt, da sie mit Pharao redeten
Moses was eighty years old and Aaron was eighty-three when they spoke to Pharaoh.
Wenn Pharao zu euch sagen wird: Beweiset eure Wunder, so sollst du zu Aaron sagen: Nimm deinen Stab und wirf ihn vor Pharao, dass er zur Schlange werde.
“When Pharaoh tells you, ‘Perform a miracle,’ you are to say to Aaron, ‘Take your staff and throw it down before Pharaoh,’ and it will become a serpent (note: Hebrew tannin; here and in verse 10, in contrast to Moses’ staff, which became a nachash in Exodus 4:3 and was noted again in Exodus 7:15).”
Da gingen Mose und Aaron hinein zu Pharao und taten, wie ihnen der HErr geboten hatte. Und Aaron warf seinen Stab vor Pharao und vor seinen Knechten, und er ward zur Schlange.
So Moses and Aaron went to Pharaoh and did just as the LORD had commanded. Aaron threw his staff down before Pharaoh and his officials, and it became a serpent.
Da forderte Pharao die Weisen und Zauberer; und die ägyptischen Zauberer taten auch also mit ihrem Beschwören:
But Pharaoh called the wise men and sorcerers and magicians of Egypt, and they also did the same things by their magic arts.
ein jeglicher warf seinen Stab von sich, da wurden Schlangen daraus; aber Aarons Stab verschlang ihre Stäbe.
Each one threw down his staff, and it became a serpent. But Aaron’s staff swallowed up the other staffs.
Also ward das Herz Pharaos verstockt, und er hörte sie nicht, wie denn der HErr geredet hatte.
Still, Pharaoh’s heart was hardened (note: Or stiffened or strengthened; also in verse 22), and he would not listen to them, just as the LORD had said.
Und der HErr sprach zu Mose: Das Herz Pharaos ist hart; er weigert sich, das Volk zu lassen.
Then the LORD said to Moses, “Pharaoh’s heart is unyielding; he refuses to let the people go.
Gehe hin zu Pharao morgen. Siehe, er wird ans Wasser gehen; so tritt ihm entgegen an das Ufer des Wassers und nimm den Stab in deine Hand, der zur Schlange ward,
Go to Pharaoh in the morning as you see him walking out to the water. Wait on the bank of the Nile to meet him, and take in your hand the staff that was changed into a snake.
und sprich zu ihm: Der HErr, der Hebräer Gott, hat mich zu dir gesandt und lassen sagen: Lass mein Volk, dass mir's diene in der Wüste. Aber du hast bisher nicht wollen hören.
Then say to him, ‘The LORD, the God of the Hebrews, has sent me to tell you: Let My people go, so that they may worship Me in the wilderness. But until now you have not listened.
Darum spricht der HErr also: Daran sollst du erfahren, dass ich der HErr bin. Siehe, ich will mit dem Stabe, den ich in meiner Hand habe, das Wasser schlagen, das in dem Strom ist, und es soll in Blut verwandelt werden,
This is what the LORD says: By this you will know that I am the LORD. Behold, with the staff in my hand I will strike the water of the Nile, and it will turn to blood.
dass die Fische im Strom sterben sollen und der Strom stinken; und den Ägyptern wird ekeln, zu trinken das Wasser aus dem Strom.
The fish in the Nile will die, the river will stink, and the Egyptians will be unable to drink its water.’”
Und der HErr sprach zu Mose: Sage Aaron: Nimm deinen Stab und recke deine Hand aus über die Wasser in Ägypten, über ihre Bäche und Ströme und Seen und über alle Wassersümpfe, dass sie Blut werden; und es sei Blut in ganz Ägyptenland, in hölzernen und in steinernen Gefäßen.
And the LORD said to Moses, “Tell Aaron, ‘Take your staff and stretch out your hand over the waters of Egypt—over their rivers and canals and ponds and all the reservoirs—that they may become blood.’ There will be blood throughout the land of Egypt, even in the vessels of wood and stone.”
Mose und Aaron taten, wie ihnen der HErr geboten hatte, und er hob den Stab auf und schlug ins Wasser, das im Strom war, vor Pharao und seinen Knechten. Und alles Wasser im Strom ward in Blut verwandelt.
Moses and Aaron did just as the LORD had commanded; in the presence of Pharaoh and his officials, Aaron raised the staff (note: Hebrew he raised the staff; see verse 19; some translators Moses raised the staff.) and struck the water of the Nile, and all the water was turned to blood.
Und die Fische im Strom starben, und der Strom ward stinkend, dass die Ägypter nicht trinken konnten das Wasser aus dem Strom; und es war Blut in ganz Ägyptenland.
The fish in the Nile died, and the river smelled so bad that the Egyptians could not drink its water. And there was blood throughout the land of Egypt.
Und die ägyptischen Zauberer taten auch also mit ihrem Beschwören. Also ward das Herz Pharaos verstockt, und er hörte sie nicht, wie denn der HErr geredet hatte.
But the magicians of Egypt did the same things by their magic arts. So Pharaoh’s heart was hardened, and he would not listen to Moses and Aaron, just as the LORD had said.
Und Pharao wandte sich und ging heim und nahm's nicht zu Herzen.
Instead, Pharaoh turned around, went into his palace, and did not take any of this to heart.
Aber alle Ägypter gruben nach Wasser um den Strom her, zu trinken; denn das Wasser aus dem Strom konnten sie nicht trinken.
So all the Egyptians dug around the Nile for water to drink, because they could not drink the water from the river.
Und das währte sieben Tage lang, dass der HErr den Strom schlug.
And seven full days passed after the LORD had struck the Nile.
Der HErr sprach zu Mose: Gehe hinein zu Pharao und sprich zu ihm: So sagt der HErr: Lass mein Volk, dass mir's diene.

dass der Strom soll von Fröschen wimmeln; die sollen heraufkriechen und kommen in dein Haus, in deine Schlafkammer, auf dein Bett, auch in die Häuser deiner Knechte, unter dein Volk, in deine Backöfen und in deine Teige;
