Und nun höre, Israel, die Gebote und Rechte, die ich euch lehre, dass ihr sie tun sollt, auf dass ihr lebt und hineinkommet und das Land einnehmet, das euch der HErr, eurer Väter Gott, gibt.
Hear now, O Israel, the statutes and ordinances I am teaching you to follow, so that you may live and may enter and take possession of the land that the LORD, the God of your fathers, is giving you.
Ihr sollt nichts dazutun zu dem, was ich euch gebiete, und sollt auch nichts davontun, auf dass ihr bewahren möget die Gebote des HErrn, eures Gottes, die ich euch gebiete.
You must not add to or subtract from what I command you, so that you may keep the commandments of the LORD your God that I am giving you.
Eure Augen haben gesehen, was der HErr getan hat wider den Baal-Peor; denn alle, die dem Baal-Peor folgten, hat der HErr, dein Gott, vertilgt unter euch.
Your eyes have seen what the LORD did at Baal-peor, for the LORD your God destroyed from among you all who followed Baal of Peor.
Aber ihr, die ihr dem HErrn, eurem Gott, anhinget, lebt alle heutigestages.
But you who held fast to the LORD your God are alive to this day, every one of you.
Siehe, ich habe euch gelehrt Gebote und Rechte, wie mir der HErr, mein Gott, geboten hat, dass ihr also tun sollt in dem Lande, darein ihr kommen werdet, dass ihr's einnehmet.
See, I have taught you statutes and ordinances just as the LORD my God has commanded me, so that you may follow them in the land that you are about to enter and possess.
So behaltet's nun und tut es. Denn das wird eure Weisheit und Verstand sein bei allen Völkern, wenn sie hören werden alle diese Gebote, dass sie müssen sagen: Ei, welch weise und verständige Leute sind das und ein herrlich Volk!
Observe them carefully, for this will show your wisdom and understanding in the sight of the peoples, who will hear of all these statutes and say, “Surely this great nation is a wise and understanding people.”
Denn wo ist so ein herrlich Volk, zu dem Götter also nahe sich tun als der HErr, unser Gott, so oft wir ihn anrufen?
For what nation is great enough to have a god as near to them as the LORD our God is to us whenever we call on Him?
Und wo ist so ein herrlich Volk, das so gerechte Sitten und Gebote habe wie all dies Gesetz, dass ich euch heutigestages vorlege?
And what nation is great enough to have righteous statutes and ordinances like this entire law I set before you today?
Hüte dich nur und bewahre deine Seele wohl, dass du nicht vergessest der Geschichten, die deine Augen gesehen haben, und dass sie nicht aus deinem Herzen kommen all dein Leben lang. Und sollst deinen Kindern und Kindeskindern kundtun
Only be on your guard and diligently watch yourselves, so that you do not forget the things your eyes have seen, and so that they do not slip from your heart as long as you live. Teach them to your children and grandchildren.
den Tag, da du vor dem HErrn, deinem Gott, standest am Berge Horeb, da der HErr zu mir sagte: Versammle mir das Volk, dass sie meine Worte hören und lernen mich fürchten alle ihre Lebtage auf Erden und lehren ihre Kinder.
The day you stood before the LORD your God at Horeb (note: That is, Mount Sinai, or possibly a mountain in the range containing Mount Sinai; also in verse 15), the LORD said to me, “Gather the people before Me to hear My words, so that they may learn to fear Me all the days they live on the earth, and that they may teach them to their children.”
Und ihr tratet herzu und standet unten an dem Berge; der Berg brannte aber bis mitten an den Himmel, und war da Finsternis, Wolken und Dunkel.
You came near and stood at the base of the mountain, a mountain blazing with fire to the heavens, with black clouds and deep darkness.
Und der HErr redete mit euch mitten aus dem Feuer. Die Stimme seiner Worte hörtet ihr; aber keine Gestalt saht ihr außer der Stimme.
And the LORD spoke to you out of the fire. You heard the sound of the words but saw no form; there was only a voice.
Und er verkündigte euch seinen Bund, den er euch gebot zu tun, nämlich die Zehn Worte, und schrieb sie auf zwei steinerne Tafeln.
He declared to you His covenant, which He commanded you to follow—the Ten Commandments (note: Hebrew the Ten Words) that He wrote on two tablets of stone.
Und der HErr gebot mir zur selben Zeit, dass ich euch lehren sollte Gebote und Rechte, dass ihr darnach tätet in dem Lande, darein ihr ziehet, dass ihr's einnehmet.
At that time the LORD commanded me to teach you the statutes and ordinances you are to follow in the land that you are crossing the Jordan to possess.
So bewahret nun eure Seelen wohl, denn ihr habt keine Gestalt gesehen des Tages, da der HErr mit euch redete aus dem Feuer auf dem Berge Horeb,
So since you saw no form of any kind on the day the LORD spoke to you out of the fire at Horeb, be careful
auf dass ihr nicht verderbet und machet euch irgend ein Bild, das gleich sei einem Mann oder Weib
that you do not act corruptly and make an idol for yourselves of any form or shape, whether in the likeness of a male or female,
oder Vieh auf Erden oder Vogel unter dem Himmel
of any beast that is on the earth or bird that flies in the air,
oder Gewürm auf dem Lande oder Fisch im Wasser unter der Erde,
or of any creature that crawls on the ground or fish that is in the waters below.
dass du auch nicht deine Augen aufhebest gen Himmel und sehest die Sonne und den Mond und die Sterne, das ganze Heer des Himmels, und fallest ab und betest sie an und dienest ihnen, welche der HErr, dein Gott, verordnet hat allen Völkern unter dem ganzen Himmel.
When you look to the heavens and see the sun and moon and stars—all the host of heaven—do not be enticed to bow down and worship what the LORD your God has apportioned to all the nations under heaven.
Euch aber hat der HErr angenommen und aus dem eisernen Ofen, nämlich aus Ägypten, geführt, dass ihr sein Erbvolk sollt sein, wie es ist an diesem Tag.
Yet the LORD has taken you and brought you out of the iron furnace, out of Egypt, to be the people of His inheritance, as you are today.
Und der HErr war so erzürnt über mich um eures Tuns willen, dass er schwur, ich sollte nicht über den Jordan gehen noch in das gute Land kommen, das dir der HErr, dein Gott, zum Erbteil geben wird,
The LORD, however, was angry with me on account of you, and He swore that I would not cross the Jordan to enter the good land that the LORD your God is giving you as an inheritance.
sondern ich muss in diesem Lande sterben und werde nicht über den Jordan gehen; ihr aber werdet hinübergehen und solch gutes Land einnehmen.
For I will not be crossing the Jordan, because I must die in this land. But you shall cross over and take possession of that good land.
So hütet euch nun, dass ihr des Bundes des HErrn, eures Gottes, nicht vergesset, den er mit euch gemacht hat, und nicht Bilder machet irgend einer Gestalt, wie der HErr, dein Gott, geboten hat.
Be careful that you do not forget the covenant of the LORD your God that He made with you; do not make an idol for yourselves in the form of anything He has forbidden you.
Denn der HErr, dein Gott, ist ein verzehrendes Feuer und ein eifriger Gott.
For the LORD your God is a consuming fire (note: Cited in Hebrews 12:29), a jealous God.
Wenn ihr nun aber Kinder zeuget und Kindeskinder und im Lande wohnet und verderbt euch und machet euch Bilder irgend einer Gestalt, dass ihr übel tut vor dem HErrn, eurem Gott, und ihr ihn erzürnet:
After you have children and grandchildren and you have been in the land a long time, if you then act corruptly and make an idol of any form—doing evil in the sight of the LORD your God and provoking Him to anger—
so rufe ich heutigestages über euch zu Zeugen Himmel und Erde, dass ihr werdet bald umkommen von dem Lande, in welches ihr gehet über den Jordan, dass ihr's einnehmet; ihr werdet nicht lange darin bleiben, sondern werdet vertilgt werden.
I call heaven and earth as witnesses against you this day that you will quickly perish from the land that you are crossing the Jordan to possess. You will not live long upon it, but will be utterly destroyed.
Und der HErr wird euch zerstreuen unter die Völker, und wird euer ein geringer Haufe übrig sein unter den Heiden, dahin euch der HErr treiben wird.
Then the LORD will scatter you among the peoples, and only a few of you will survive among the nations to which the LORD will drive you.
Daselbst wirst du dienen den Göttern, die Menschenhände Werk sind, Holz und Stein, die weder sehen noch hören noch essen noch riechen.
And there you will serve man-made gods of wood and stone, which cannot see or hear or eat or smell.
Wenn du aber daselbst den HErrn, deinen Gott, suchen wirst, so wirst du ihn finden, wenn du ihn wirst von ganzem Herzen und von ganzer Seele suchen.
But if from there you will seek the LORD your God, you will find Him if you seek Him with all your heart and with all your soul.
Wenn du geängstet sein wirst und dich treffen werden alle diese Dinge in den letzten Tage, so wirst du dich bekehren zu dem HErrn, deinem Gott, und seiner Stimme gehorchen.
When you are in distress and all these things have happened to you, then in later days you will return to the LORD your God and listen to His voice.
Denn der HErr, dein Gott, ist ein barmherziger Gott; er wird dich nicht lassen noch verderben, wird auch nicht vergessen des Bundes, den er deinen Vätern geschworen hat.
For the LORD your God is a merciful God; He will not abandon you or destroy you or forget the covenant with your fathers, which He swore to them by oath.
Denn frage nach den vorigen Zeiten, die vor dir gewesen sind, von dem Tage an, da Gott den Menschen auf Erden geschaffen hat, von einem Ende des Himmels zum andern, ob je solch großes Ding geschehen oder desgleichen je gehört sei,
Indeed, ask now from one end of the heavens to the other about the days that long preceded you, from the day that God created man on earth: Has anything as great as this ever happened or been reported?
dass ein Volk Gottes Stimme gehört habe aus dem Feuer reden, wie du gehört hast, und dennoch lebest?
Has a people ever heard the voice of God (note: Or of a god) speaking out of the fire, as you have, and lived?
oder ob Gott versucht habe hineinzugehen und sich ein Volk mitten aus einem Volk zu nehmen durch Versuchungen, durch Zeichen, durch Wunder, durch Streit und durch eine mächtige Hand und durch einen ausgestreckten Arm und durch sehr schreckliche Taten, wie das alles der HErr, euer Gott, für euch getan hat in Ägypten vor deinen Augen?
Or has any god tried to take as his own a nation out of another nation—by trials, signs, wonders, and war, by a strong hand and an outstretched arm, and by great terrors—as the LORD your God did for you in Egypt, before your eyes?
Du hast's gesehen, auf dass du wissest, dass der HErr allein Gott ist und keiner mehr.
You were shown these things so that you would know that the LORD is God; there is no other besides Him.
Vom Himmel hat er dich seine Stimme hören lassen, dass er dich züchtigte; und auf Erden hat er dir gezeigt sein großes Feuer, und seine Worte hast du aus dem Feuer gehört.
He let you hear His voice from heaven to discipline you, and on earth He showed you His great fire, and you heard His words out of the fire.
Darum dass er deine Väter geliebt und ihren Samen nach ihnen erwählt hat, hat er dich ausgeführt mit seinem Angesicht durch sein große Kraft aus Ägypten,
Because He loved your fathers, He chose their descendants after them and brought you out of Egypt by His presence and great power,
dass er vertriebe vor dir her große Völker und stärkere, denn du bist, und dich hineinbrächte, dass er dir ihr Land gäbe zum Erbteil, wie es heutigestages steht.
to drive out before you nations greater and mightier than you, and to bring you into their land and give it to you for your inheritance, as it is this day.
So sollst du nun heutigestages wissen und zu Herzen nehmen, dass der HErr Gott ist oben im Himmel und unten auf Erden und keiner mehr;
Know therefore this day and take to heart that the LORD is God in heaven above and on the earth below; there is no other.
dass du haltest seine Rechte und Gebote, die ich dir heute gebiete: so wird dir's und deinen Kindern nach dir wohl gehen, dass dein Leben lange währe in dem Lande, das dir der HErr, dein Gott, gibt ewiglich.
Keep His statutes and commandments, which I am giving you today, so that you and your children after you may prosper, and that you may live long in the land that the LORD your God is giving you for all time.
Da sonderte Mose drei Städte aus jenseit des Jordans, gegen der Sonne Aufgang,
Then Moses set aside three cities across the Jordan to the east
dass dahin flöhe, wer seinen Nächsten totschlägt unversehens und ihm zuvor nicht Feind gewesen ist; der soll in der Städte eine fliehen, dass er lebendig bleibe:
to which a manslayer could flee after killing his neighbor unintentionally without prior malice. To save one’s own life, he could flee to one of these cities:
Bezer in der Wüste im ebnen Lande unter den Rubenitern und Ramoth in Gilead unter den Gaditern und Golan in Basan unter den Manassitern.
Bezer in the wilderness on the plateau belonging to the Reubenites, Ramoth in Gilead belonging to the Gadites, or Golan in Bashan belonging to the Manassites.
Das ist das Gesetz, das Mose den Kindern Israel vorlegte.
This is the law that Moses set before the Israelites.
Das sind die Zeugnisse und Gebote und Rechte, die Mose den Kindern Israel sagte, da sie aus Ägypten gezogen waren,
These are the testimonies, statutes, and ordinances that Moses proclaimed to them after they had come out of Egypt,
jenseit des Jordans, im Tal gegenüber Beth-Peor, im Lande Sihons, des Königs der Amoriter, der zu Hesbon saß, den Mose und die Kinder Israel schlugen, da sie aus Ägypten gezogen waren,
while they were in the valley across the Jordan facing Beth-peor in the land of Sihon king of the Amorites, who lived in Heshbon and was defeated by Moses and the Israelites after they had come out of Egypt.
und nahmen sein Land ein, dazu das Land Ogs, des Königs von Basan, der zwei Könige der Amoriter, die jenseit des Jordans waren, gegen der Sonne Aufgang,
They took possession of the land belonging to Sihon and to Og king of Bashan—the two Amorite kings across the Jordan to the east—
von Aroer an, welches am Ufer liegt des Baches Arnon, bis an den Berg Sion, das ist der Hermon,
extending from Aroer on the rim of the Arnon Valley as far as Mount Siyon (note: Or Sion; Syriac Sirion) (that is, Hermon),
und alles Blachfeld jenseit des Jordans, gegen Aufgang der Sonne, bis an das Meer im Blachfelde, unten am Berge Pisga.
including all the Arabah on the east side of the Jordan and as far as the Sea of the Arabah (note: That is, the Dead Sea), below the slopes of Pisgah.
